Here is the best thing a person ever did for me:

I was newish to the game was in a guild but we didn't have a hall (cuz we were all new). I found out that you needed a celestial sigil for a hall - holy crap they cost 40k!!!! I guess we are never getting a hall

I see this guy in LA saying he had 8 Celestial sigils and was giving them out for free.

So I asked him if he was serious and he said, "yeah and I'll give you a un-id'd sup monk rune, maybe it'll be healing *crosses fingers*"

So he gave me the sigi and the rune, which turned out to be a smite (I sold it for 19K).

This one person handed me 60k just because he wanted to, the only thing he wanted in return was to see what rune I got after I id'd it, and he seemed genuinely disappointed that it was not a healing rune.

Since then I have always tried to give back to others. I have given out about 15 max firey dragon swords (one even had a +5 def mod) and I have sold all my greens that I don't need for about half what others are charging. I figure it is the least I can do.

Edit: I also do free runs. The tips are usually better than what I would have charged anyway.

Dunno if this counts, but I was trying to get the Ice Caves of Sorrow bonus done. I had been in 2 groups that said yes then refused.

I zoned into Ice Caves and said "anyone doin bonus" in public chat.
Got a reply "Stewbo are you infused?" (I was)
After being accepted we set off and completed bonus, we then moved on and did Iron Mines bonus & Thunder Head Keep mission and bonus. (First attempt)

I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all the team. Unfortunately I cant post names but I'm sure they will know who they are from my name.

I just wish there could be more PUG's like these people.

I got run to the desert missions for free, nice enough then the runner gave me Morgriffs Staff for free & refused to take anything in return,

simply said its our guild motto to help just do the same for someone else.

Best thing that has happened to me? Easy, my guild.
About a month ago I pulled a boneheaded move and downloaded what was supposed to be a text document with farming information. Account was acessed and everything was taken, gold, weapons, my armor, ecto, shards, even customized weapons without any good mods on them. They did leave a few things but my characters were pretty much helpless and had no way to play. Don't get me wrong I am not cryin about it, it was my fault for doing something stupid. My guild leader gave me a slew of weapons (better than the ones that were stolen, and another guildmate gave me 75K to get new armor and anything else i needed. Noone called me NOOB or even gave me a hard time about it, they were just there to help out and get me back on my feet. Theese are IMO the best gamers I have met and have restored my belief that there are still some good gamers out there! We give each other everything, We almost never charge for anything if it is going to a guildmate unless they insist on paying something for it, we even give each other stuff to sell or gold if someone needs cash.
I have a good guild and some great friends, wish my luck with drops was half as good!

. and now im 1 of 3 out of 30+ who play anymore.

anyway, i had just got to Augrey and was looking for a group, hooked up with a guy who ran 4 quests including the vision crystal, for the entire group. now if i could find someone to run me to Dunes i could finally get to UW.

Yesterday I was doing quests with a guildie and another guildie asked if I had time to pop in and out of FH, so I did. He opened trade with me and gave me an Victo's Axe.

I'm very gratefull for this, cause this was one of the many things that I was saving for.

OK- 1st post- sooo lil pressure here

I love these threads btw.
Not entirely new to the game- had it for awhile, just didn't immerse myself in it.....until lately.
Trying to figure out what I can, I whisper to a guy- lvl 12 W/? in Pre searing. I explain that I am new and really don't know too much. He proceeds to 'take me under his arm' and shows me a few things. Actually, spends about 20 min with me. Really nice guy, and I am so appreciative.
I know this isn't earth-shattering, but it was really nice.

To paraphrase a short story...

'A little girl was walking on the beach after a terrible storm. She notices several hundred octipi have washed ashore and are dying. She begins to pick 1 up at a time and throw them back into the ocean. A man watching her says to the little girl, don't you see how many there are? What possible difference can you make? The little girl picks up another one and throws it back in and replies, well, I made a difference to that one.'

PS-
I'm still trying to find a team to join. Not an avid player, but would like to team up. I think it'd be nice if there was a guild full of mentors out there. In COH, there is a supergroup which consists of nothing but defenders- healing primarily, who make it a point to help out 'younger' players in the field. Is there anything like that here?

So many people have been really nice and helped me a lot, but the most recent was last night. I was about to go on the last mission before Droks with my W found a party, and even started the countdown timer before i remembered that i didn't have a weapon (i had just sold mine and was planning to buy a new one).

I tell this to my party and immediately a few of them started offering to sell me one. I was asking around what kinds they had when i noticed one of them had already started a trade. I open the window and see he had placed a fiery dragon sword. I asked him how much and he said it was free.

Very thankful, i started out on the mission. We were only about half through when i noticed he wanted to trade again. I opened the window, and there was another fiery dragon sword. I told him mine was fine, but he said that this one was better and i should take it. I tried to give him the other one, but he said I could keep it.

Another time i was just doing some missions with a farmer friend when she gave me a black dye.

Nicest thing for me? Nothing comes to mind, really.

Nicest thing I've done for someone else recently, though: someone wasn't paying attention in Tombs, and an ecto dropped for them. Item timed out, grabbed it at the last second before the level changed, asked them if they wanted it (they did and hadn't noticed). Not even a "thank you." Hmmph.

Other than that, nothing really, I've given people lots of free items just out of boredom.

well, first of all, good thread! I hhave a couple of things..

the first was my warrior. He is my first charcter and my pride and joy. When he was a mid level twerp bumming around Old Ascalon wiht an identity crisis ready to give up on the game a very nice person reignited my enthusiasm for the game by taking to me and doing a few missions with me and giving me a nice sword and shield, as well as modeling all of her high end armor for me to drool over. It really got me playing again and I havent stopped since.

Last night with my second character (a lvl 7 M/N) I was at Piken and a nice lvl 20 Necro answered my call for a group to do teh Dukes Daughter quest. WEll, not only did she help me with that one, she got me through every mission out of picken (except red claoked deserter) in like half an hour. By the time i left picken I was lvl 9!

On my fourth character, a monk, I was in alcalon asking for 4g to get new armor , but this guy gave me six-hundred gold! that made my day...I was able to buy new armor, and new weapons! Thanks who ever that was!

My friend helped me get my collectors armor for my warrior in searing. I then helped someone get their collectors armor in searing. A couple of hours well spent.

when I was about level 8 on my W/R, some guy in Sardelac Sanitarium randomly said "free goodies for a warrior", so I opened trade, and he handed me a max purple sundering fellblade of (something that I changed and forget). I think the sundering was 10/8. He also gave me a req 8 max clean eternal shield. I was such a noob it took until a few level 20s drooled on my fellblade to really know how cool that was.

I try to return the favor, just pass it along, ya know? There was some guy in ascalon who wanted a max gold +14% always -10ALw/Attacking Recurve Bow I was trying to sell, but he didn't have the cash. we talked for a while, and I just gave it to him. Nice guy.

I hope that didn't sound like bragging, I just think it's a good philosophy to follow, ya know? I mean... why be rude?

I would like to say thank to my guildie who yesterday took most of my money

Well she did sell me 2 greens (Necro staff and warrior shield) for about a third of their value.

I was then on later and got a whisper if I wanted some green offhands for my messer.

I whispered back that she already had all my money lol but she just turned up and said they were free.

Also must say thanks to ALL my guild ... great bunch of people to play with

Well, I'm in a great Guild, had one guy give me several shards when I was learning UW (or Fow, whichever) just for sticking around and not deserting them half way through (i wouldn't dream of it). Just the other day another gave me Tanzits cleaver for my warrior when it fell for him in SF, much better than what I had before. Moral of the story, join a good guild, you won't regret it

I've met alot of great people on GW, several added to my friends list, and several have added me. I've seen the occasional jerk, but they tend to leave me alone. Keep up the good work everyone...

Oh and if anyone wants to give me 50k anytime...

Actually my whole guild are the nicest folks you could ever want to meet. Anytime I need help they are all willing to jump in. We never trade amongst ourselves. If someone needs something, like a 15 ^ 50 20% enchant rare skinned sword of whoopass, there is no haggling or anything like that. Even though my jerk status is debateable my guildies are all solid people.

I feel that Guild Wars can be more rewarding when you do nice things to help other players. I always run for free when on my war Nienna lady of pity. If I have an item that my characters can’t use I always offer to random people who have that class.

When I have over 10k I hold hide and seek games in Ascalon I say that I am in dist 1 to 7 the first 2 people to find me gets 2k. I love the rush I get when a player finds me. For latecomers if I have any good items I will offer them as a runner up prize.

Once found a great shield from farming ettins. Req8 +45/-2 while enchanted... Unfortunately, it was only 8AL, so no sell potential there. But I thought that junking it at merchant would be such as waste so I went to one of ealier missions and gave it away to some warrior.

He accepted it, no reply, after a while, called me a "noob" and laughed at me for giving it away then logged off. (I tell you, it's sometimes hard to give stuff away especially when this happens.)

Yesterday I went into FoW, we had about 12 shard drops over our entire party. I didn't have one, but the one that got mosts drops gave me one. That was nice

I had pretty much the same thing happen to me once. We'd done all the way up to the Forgemaster and his quests, and had gone off to kill Khobay and free the other tower (only 4 or 5 of us left at this point from a party of 8). Everyone had got multiple shard drops, with some getting 3 or 4, except me (zero). Taking a break whilst someone was AFK the leader was saying how great the shard drops had been and how good it was everyone had got something. I pointed out I'd got nothing yet, so they dropped one and said I could have it. I refused, saying that it was a great trip and that was reward enough, and after some persuading they picked it back up.

Next group we killed I got a shard. I've never had karma pay me back that quick before.

Ive tried to give stuff away before. You know one of max fellblades witha small bonus on them. I think 'i'd have loved this at the start of the game' so I travel to Ascalon or Piken and say 'Free Sword' Nobody answers so I tell them its a fellblade. I prefer to give weapons to the right proff as they appreciate it and dont go and sell it but when most see that its one off max they just say 'THATS NOT MAX' and leave! Sometimes calling me a noob to boot. Tis a shame indeed. I run for free all the time though nd most people are gratefull.

you guys all sound like your in ace guilds, id love to be able to find one that help eachother alot and trade between them.

My CSS clan i in the middle of making a Devision for GW, so im the only active player atm, lol, oh well.

Ive had so many people be good to me over my time at GW that I wudnt know where to begin. I had a really ncie runner the other day who was trialing a yak's bend, so i tagged along, i like to do things in order, but i think its good to show appreciation to a specialist role like that, since overall not many people can run well, due to job/player restrictions.

Anyway, she made it to Yak's, i oculd tell it was her first go since we had to have a few goes at getting to yak's once in the peaks, but we made it, and she ran me to the next set of missions, offered to try further but i made my excuses and left so as not towaste more of her time.

One time when I was poor I asked to buy 2 crappy sword upgrades, this guy says he has a few but they werent in my price range, so I told him and he said "oh well np" 2mins later he pmed me saying you can have them all!
There were 5 including +28hp and 10/8 sundering and 16% enchanting, I was very pleased.

This is by far the nicest thing that has happened to me in the GW community. A friend of mine, and former guildie, PM's my brother in-game and asks if he needs to do any of the RoF missions. He has done them already, but mentions that his brother (me) needs to get his (my) ranger through all 3 of them. After work, I log on and talk to the guy, and we meet up in the RoF with his new guildies. We proceed to roll through all 3 missions and bonuses with minimal effort. Other than the few that were skill capping, they did this entire run for me. I was blown away at their generosity. I have never asked for handouts or favors before, and was completely floored by this gesture. Got some new friends outta the deal too. I really hope I get the chance to repay the favor.

Either the guy that sold me 11 Deldrimor Steel for 700 (yes thats 700g for all 11), or the guy that sold me black dye for 2.5k back when it was up around 10k at the trader.

I was looking to buy a fleshweaver and accidently bought a fleshcleaver....it was my own fault for not looking but when i realized what I had done the person gave me my money back. I was in shock as most people would have told me it was my own fault and to get over it.
