Anet. Everyone knows whatever Sony touches turns to crap.
They're
giving away Everquest now. You couldn't pay me to play it.
Star Wars: Galaxies managed to destroy it's base
and turn off new players with it's ridiculous reboot that actually made the game worse.
Matrix Online: Need I say more? Did anyone even play this?
Planetside: Well, the good news is apparently you can play this baby subscription free for a year. The bad news is, I've never even heard of this Space MMORPG.
Now let's look at NCSoft (since comparing Anet to Sony is unfair):
Guild Wars: over 1 million players and counting
City of Heroes/City of Villians: The only Superhero MMORPG currently out there. Nice niche.
AutoAssault: Had the pleasure of playing the Beta a little. Wouldn't buy it myself, but a nice little game if you enjoy driving cars and shooting things.
Tabula Rasa: Now, this isn't out yet, but it sounds interesting: A MMORPG shooter produced by "Lord British" Garriott.
If NCSoft would charge a flat fee and let you play any of these games, I think they could rival WoW in subscribers.
(Oh yeah, I left off Lineage II. Have no idea how it's doing...)
