Hi ppl! Glad the thing worked for most of you as i see, incuding me!
Now for those of you still having the problem, its not your fault! Its clearly ANet's problem. So the only thing to do is wait! It sound weird but there's nothing you can do by your self. Oh, and one last thing - i remember ANet saying something connected to the IP address range - it so hapened that my isp changed my IP (for their particular reason i guess) and since then i can login with no err058.

Best of luck to you all out there who still have the problem, and be assured that youll be back playing in no time! Anet will fix it no doubt!

Cheers.

I’m sorry to hear that everyone is having an issue logging in. I was having the same issue and getting the same error. I went thru the steps on how to setup my Netgear router, and ta-da it is now working. So I just wanted to say im not sure that it is Anet's problem.........

Hi all. Even though I have been able to get on to GW for quite awhile now, I have continued to read this forum. My problem was with my virus scanner (NOD32) and I think that a lot of other's problems have been similar. Here is a forum that has some pretty savvy people that may be able to help some people who may have a configuration problem with their AV, firewall or router: http://www.wilderssecurity.com

I know there are issues with ArenaNet but I think that there was something in the factions download that triggered a lot of peoples' security software on their computers. For me, I uninstalled NOD32 and then reinstalled and it worked great. I tried turning it (NOD32) off and also terminating the process in Task Manager, but GW wouldn't work. It required uninstalling, then reinstalling NOD. I think that NOD then was able to recognize the new build of GW and allow it to function.

This site also has a lot of information on setting exceptions and how to configure different security software. If you haven't already seriously looked into this, you should as waiting for GW to fix your specific problem may be futile if you are not one of the people who has the internet provider issue or university network issue etc.

Anyhow, just a thought. I hope that the next time I go to this forum, it is dead and everyone is thrashing the baddies on GW or Factions instead of not being able to get on.

Just wondering, is anyone else still having this problem? I have dial-up and I started getting it yesterday. It stays a long time on the connecting, and then I get a code 58. Theres no news section on the right, but I do see the lightning bolt and it's streaming data. I have tried reinstalling my firewall Zonealarm.

edit: I just got it to work. I added gw.exe as an exception to NOD32. So i'm guessing my antivirus had something to do with it.

Yes Liquidus you are right, I was playing GW with no problems till I installed NOD32 and then error "code 58" so I just deleted it and it worked right a head. Smart that you put exception for gw.exe but now I'm to lazy to install nod32 again. cheers

So your saying all the code messages are prblems with ANet or NC?

Or are they problems in the routers and firewalls like liquidus and popova's?

Well, im not cancelling what i said in the first place, although im admitting there is a mistery here...The game didnt work for me for 3 weeks after the factions preview update and i have no router and uninstalled all my antivirus/firewall...

So, giving the circumstances, the game should have worked, but it didnt! Now is working fine but not from my doing...unless a higher power made the game work, im still pretty much putting the blame on Anet. And besides that, so many ppl actually followed the steps provided by Anet and nothing happened...Well, there are many factors to take into consideration but the number of ppl who had, or r still having the problem, says otherwise...

yeah im having exact same problem.
yesterday logged out and rebooted comp. after it it wont work but everything else works. meaning i can play other games but i cant play gw >_<

its been ~13h that way for me now and i tryed readding it to exeption list to firewall,no help. disabled it while entering...no help.

now that i readed half of these posts i could only come out with reason that either THEIR isp is horse sh*t or that they needs new web cabel.

i mean there must be thousands of users who uses the same server and try to move all trough 1 web cable without losing even a single package..just goodluck with it

or just that they has max ppl limit on server wich keeps telling this to ppl and from what they dont know anything at all them self xD

I'm glad I found this thread. I uninstalled NOD32 and was able to connect no problem. But when I reinstalled it I still couldn't connect. I even tried excluding gw.exe (and the entire folder), but it still won't connect. I really like NOD32 but I also like Guild Wars. This is pretty ridiculous, but is there anything else I can do in NOD32 to get the game to work (besides uninstalling it every time I want to play)?

Go to your NOD32, click on IMON then click on "Setup". Select the Miscellaneous tab then click on "Edit" under the Exclusion section. Add your Gw.exe and i guess you're good to go

I'm guessing that you excluded your whole Guild Wars folder under AMON setup but not IMON

i have this issue since 2 days back...everything worked fine before then...where does this come from???
my firewall and router (Dlink) are perfectly installed , so the problem CAN'T be on that side...
to be honest im kinda too lazy to read all the posts in this thread
and since Tech support doesn't seem to have a clue either...
someone else found the remedy yet??

I'm from Belgium too and I've got the same problem (same err 058). My IPS is Telenet and I know where is the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO... The route to the Anet servers can't be trace, it stops at L.A. Always at the same server... I asked some people who use Telenet to play GW and everybody at Telenet seams to have this error... I just hope they'll fix it soon or I'll have to leave Telenet...

Also from Belgium, also Telenet.

Already 3 days without Guild Wars, I wonder how long it will take to fix such a serious problem.

According to GW suppor Europe:

Thanks for contacting the NCsoft Europe support team. There is currently an unresolved connection issue with the Belgian ISP Telenet which prevents you from connecting to our servers. Unfortunately, a solution for this problem is out of our range and has to be made by the provider. Please get in touch with the customer support of Telenet in order to resolve your connection problems.

PS: gotten this information from a fellow poster on a dutchspeaking gamesforum.

I don't know if this has already been discussed, but for users of NOD32 who are receiving code 058 (like me), it is possible that the IMON module on the software may be the culprit. However, un-installing may be avoided if you go to the IMON panel, and un-check it, which disables it, while still having the software intact.

yes i am also from belgium
and with telenet
ive been posting a question at support
after a couple of days messaging with the gms i got this message

Thanks for contacting the Guild Wars customer support team. There is currently a connection issue with the Belgian ISP "Telenet", which prevents players from connecting to our servers. Unfortunately, a solution for this problem would need to be made available by your ISP.

We recommend getting in touch with Telenet's customer support department in order to resolve the connection problem.

so if we all call to telenet they will need to fix it
i will be calling for it too within 2 hours

greets

Ive phoned to telenet
for the most of us our modem can connect to telenet
its just that telenet can't connect to guildwars and vica versa
so .... guild wars says telenet has to deal with this
they are working on the problem they say
but this can take days, weeks and even months ...
im loosing my patience here ....

ok all telenet users with this problem, im gona make yr day...

go to http://users.telenet.be/m.vanhoecke/c058.html

and do what they say... it renews yr mac and you will get a new ip adres becoz of it (after rebooting or disable/renew yr network adapter) and if your lucky yr new ip will be in a range that can connect to the auth server of guildwars (some ranges can't, and thats the problem).

it works trust me, might be that u need to do it more then once, but with me and a lot of others it worked from the first try.

SHAME that TELENET or A-NET couldn't figure out this simple solution for us,shows how much they care for a few users...

thnx to the people who found this fix !!!!

Did u guys tried once or several times ? becoz as i said ,with some bad luck, you end up in the same ip range again...

it worked for me and for others so i tought it would work for everyone...

if after a few tries,it still doesnt work, reset (unplug) yr modem for a few minutes, and then try again...

I hope it works for everyone as it did for me...

Finally received a reply from Telenet. I will post it in Flemisch:

Geachte,

Blijkbaar hebben ze bij Guidwars hun server(s) aangepast. Nu moet de
DNS-server update langs onze kant uitgevoerd worden, en dit kan maximaal
72 uur duren.

Met vriendelijke groeten,
Harald

Let's all hope they are able to update their DNS server ASAP.

Yes, I have been having this problem for the last two hours, in addition to error code 007 (or whatever that usual connection code is). However, this is only happening to me in Prophet's Path on both my laptop and desktop. I have run through Aurora Glade and am now running through Gates of Kryta with no problems.
