Worst Elite Skill

I think Amity actually fulfills some function.
Withdraw doesn't.

Back at faction's release wasn't everybody theorycrafting Second Wind vs Ether Prodigy? I just find it hard to call something like that a "worst elite".

Assault Enchantments
Dark Apostasy (not ideal, but still pretty useful)
Locust Fury (not so bad either, but there's better things)
Palm Strike
Shattering Assault
Way of the Assassin
Flashing Blades
Fox's Promise (still not very good, but pretty good though, unblockable is ftw)
Moebius Strike
Assassin's Promise
Mark of Insecurity (pretty good imo)
Shadow Prison (not great, but used to be meta for quite a while)
Siphon Strength (can take out a melee character pretty well)
Way of the Empty Palm (bad, but still not that bad)
Beguiling Haze
Hidden Caltrops (bad, but still a pretty good snare)
Shadow Form? (Lol)
Shadow Shroud
Shadow Meld (used to be used in the Deep and DoA)
Hmm, that kind of sums em up, leaving out like 5...

I think they should change it so that it acts like Gwen's play dead skill. You can still run around with it on, but things don't aggro to you or attack. That'll keep it from being a farming skill.
Skyy High
60 second recharge on DS....that sounds like a horrible idea. With escape + dodge + zojun's, you have 100% uptime, you're always blocking ranged attacks, and you can block melee attacks if you really need to. You also are running just as fast as you do with DS, and you can recover from stance removal more easily....in short, why would you ever use DS for a running build over escape?
Cale Roughstar
Decapitate is one of the worst in my opinion. Lose all adrenaline AND energy? If it cost all adrenaline only, it would be an OP skill, but costing all energy just gimps it to the point of hilarity.
Also, someone on the previous page said Triple Chop was bad. It can actually be quite a bit of fun in PvE, especially in tank'n'spank areas (i.e. the Deep). Pop on a zealous axe, spam triple chop, cyclonic axe and whirlwind attack for big damage. Toss on some splinter weapons and ZOMGNUMBERSEVERYWHERE!

Why not use decapitate when you have almost no energy?

Wut? Userious? DS is f*cking powerful, 100% longer stances when r10 Delver? That's insane.. With DS you can also upkeep dodge and Zojun's and you still got a slot for an Elite.. Looks pretty obvious to me..

Still think escape is better, you're not vulnerable to enchant removal and you don't have to stop....but still. Ignore my last post.

Quickshot is meant to be used with hornbows + IAS. It just fell victim to powercreep skills that's all. |
Never though that existed outside of the temporary lightning reflexes and magebane, mostly rangers have been slowly nerfed if anything.
And yes quick shot has been nerfed, i used it for laughs in low end pvp while utilizing conjure, kindle and power shot, precision shot etc.
now it got aftercast and that kills the only meaning of the skill, to use it in between already fast activating skills to work as an ias that is non dependant on what bow you are wielding thus making the hornbow the weapon of choice. And to prove that they do not understand the game the developers stated:
Quote:
Sundering Attack (PvP), Penetrating Attack (PvP), Precision Shot, Quick Shot, and Melandru's Shot were all given the additional half-second of aftercast. Quick Shot is essentially unchanged, since its 1-second recharge already forced an identical delay between successive uses of the skill. Additionally, Precision Shot's damage bonus was reduced in order to bring it in line with Penetrating Attack (PvP). The PvE versions of Penetrating Attack and Sundering Attack were given the faster 3/4-second activation time in order to preserve their usage in fast-attacking damage builds in PvE. Power Shot had its fast activation time removed and was reworked as a skill that does fixed, armor-ignoring damage. It should be effective in the early game, since the low-end damage on it is fairly high, and again late game, where the armor-ignoring nature of its damage should prove valuable. To make it more viable in this role, we reduced its recharge. The other 1-second Bow Attack that did not simply get an aftercast was Needling Shot. In order to preserve its rapid-fire feel without working in a spike chain, Needling Shot was given a faster 3/4-second activation time but now disables other attack skills for 2 seconds when used. |

Amity is useless in every instance in PvE and PvP. I think it wins.

Amity wins this thread dudes, any other elite can have at least one crappy bar to run around with, even stuff like Second Wind and Quick Shot. amity is simply impossible to use on every single bar.

Nah, Withdraw Hexes beats it to the prize.

Amnity > Withdraw Hexs.
You can actually have some fun with csting Amnity on people in RA. Withdraw hexes on the other hand is always lame.

Multiple copies of amity + pacifism in TA was absolutely hilarious.
As has been said before. Second Wind fills the exact same role as Ether Prodigy filled. There were many players that theorycrafted EP vs SW. In the end it largely felt that Second Wind lost because of the 2 second cast time more than anything else.

Dre
Second wind is not useless (if you know how to be careful with exhaustion, it a decent energy skill)
As Reverend Dr said, it's the 2 second cast time that makes it bad (especially in PvP)

ensoriki
I agree that it's bad not that it's useless. It's clear that it's E-management, but why would I use it, theres like 1001 different options to get energy back. I'd probably choose any of them before Second Wind, unless Im forgetting one particularly bad e-management skill or something.
Xenomortis
Just because something better exists doesn't make a particular skill terrible. Second Wind actually performs a job.
Reokuma
Definitely Lightning Surge, the enemy is usually dead before the thing even goes off.
jazilla
couldn't agree with you more. Stone Sheath is terrible and why would you do it when you can use Stone Striker and Mantra of Earth to get the same effect for yourself without using an elite. Conversion to earth damage with a hex that is removable is terrible. There is zero utility for this in PvP and maybe a gimmick build in PvE...somewhere?

Watch out for the secret Decapitate spike.

I would have to go with Word of Censure. High energy cost, and while the damage is semi decent the disable effect is just stupid.

Shatter Storm, hands down.

To me, if you want to bring a heavy enchantment removal, go /Necromancer and bring Gaze of Contempt
Pro's
Has anyone ever used Shatter Storm in PvP, let alone PvE?
...didn't think so
Pro's
- Removes all Enchantments
Con's
- Elite Slot could be spent better
- Can potentially be disabled for a very long period of time
- No Attribute means no advantage over scaled disenchantment skills
To me, if you want to bring a heavy enchantment removal, go /Necromancer and bring Gaze of Contempt
Pro's
- Same energy as most enchantment removal skills
- Definite recharge time, regardless of how many were removed
- No Attribute means no required investment
- Non-elite frees up your slot for more viable elites
- Must meet a condition to work properly
- Two second casting time invites interruption (unless Mesmer Primary with FC)
Has anyone ever used Shatter Storm in PvP, let alone PvE?

The disable is nowhere near as much of an issue as you make it out to be. In fact, it substitutes for two or three normal enchant removals - an uncovered Conjure or Mirror of Ice or Attunement or a spot removal on Guardian is only a 7 second recharge, instead of the 20-25 seconds of your other common enchant removals - Shatter, Drain, Strip, and Rend.

The disable is negligible in PvP, where Word of Censure is currently part of the meta on a smiter.
That's exactly why people run Shatterstorm over Rend on Paragons in dual paragon spikes. The disable is nowhere near as much of an issue as you make it out to be.
