Should Anet add experience emotes?

Hi

I think it would be cool for Anet to add emotes when you hit a certain experience mark. I'm not sure what the mark would be, but maybe every 500k experience or maybe 1 million experience. The emotes should look similar to the rank emotes, but maybe be different colors and animals/symbols. I already know this game isn't about "grind", but this is something a little extra to reward people that have a lot of experience.

I will admit I kind of feel left out for not having an emote because I don't pvp, so now this will even the sides so to speak. Grinding is not required, as pvp is not required to enjoy the game. You can say this will promote grinding which doesn't matter to me because I don't have a problem with people farming, however it's obvious some players do, and I'm sure I will see you guys post here. =) Please don't post Anet didn't intend for people to farm.

What does everyone else think about this idea?

Thanks

I've R3 (love the deer), and agree to this idea.

Think it'd be kinda nifty to show off how much exp you have, maybe like a glowing aura thingy (/exp emote) at 1,000,000 exp, then a different one for each mil after?

But think about the players without a ton of experience. I can see it now:
Inside Thunderhead Keep
Me: Monk LFG!
random whisper : 'wuts ur xp rank'
Me: o.o I don't have one
random whisper : 'we dun wnt n00bs go away'
Me: But I can heal! I've played a monk in PvP before!

Now, is that what we really want?

Note: i kept my farming comments to myself! Yay!!

yes, very cool, Heelz.

I think its a good idea and have harped about this for some time. Why shouldn't we have one? PvPers would scream bloody murder if we had one and they didn't.

Isn't that why you have levels?

Having 1mil exp just means you've farmed, unless I'm very wrong and you can get that much simply through gameplay (all missions + quests)?

So... I guess if you want a farmer on the team, then yeah, sure, an exp. emote would help.

I understand what u mean but to have an emote based off of just xp would be exploited. If u want an emote for pve maybe they should just add some extra hard missions which are only accomplished for a pve version of rank/fame. Have it so where it is so tough that u would need a combined group of 16 or more players in a coordinated effort to complete the goal.

Good idea. But I rather not get an emote base on experience, cause exp. doesn't tell anything other than you farm a lot. I rather get an emote for finishing all mission and bonus, or all Titan quests, or something that is challenging.

Odds of getting a team of 16 players without a complete idiot to ruin your mission? Slim to none unless you do it with friends.

I requested an emote based on number quests completed to Gaile Gray in LA Int1 awhile ago. She seemed to think it was a good idea which she'd follow up.

I dont agree with pve or pvp emotes, theres a pvp emote so i think its reasonable to expect a pve emote, they can both be farmed, and imo both take just as much work to attain, but the people that lose out are the people not willing to grind.

of course. i'd like to show off how good my 55 monk is by being the first to get whatever the highest PvE experience emote is, thus proving... I'M ZE BEST PVE'ER!!!11

Nice idea in theory, but will be bad in execution. Because experience in one area of PvE doesn't always translate into skill in other areas. - I've got well over 2,000,000 XP, but have only been in FoW twice, UW once, so I'm by no means experienced in those areas. But with the new Tombs, I've done that successfully quite often (20+ times), playing 3 different professions. So I'm experienced in that place.

Not for XP, but an emote for PVE characters that shows that they have all the skills of a certain class acquired, whether or not they have that as their secondary or not at the moment, That way I could do my Mesmer, Monk, and necromancer ones at the same time and show off or something, I don't know.

Thanks for the comments! I understand this emote wouldn't mean jack for the skills of the players, I only wanted the emote to favor farmers! Hehe the truth comes out! I play almost all missions with hench anyways, so I could care less about someone's emote that could possibly be in my team. I also think it's stupid how pvper's ask for a players rank emote to be in a group. I say either give an exp emote or remove pvp emote.

I also agree there should be an emote for completing all the missions and quests in the game or for having all the skills. I got a new idea, what about an emote for the amount of skill points you have, and it changes every 10-20 skill points or so.

How about when you complete all the qusets and missions, you glow, like a boss or something. Kind of defering from the original idea, but wth.

I did read all the other posts and I understand why emotes will be a bad idea. Now I need you to explain to be what Gaile meant in those two lines above because you obviously know what she meant by it.

PS-I just want a farmers emote that flashes and says "Farmers Unite" or something like that, it doesn't have to keep changing with mroe exp. Maybe after you get 1 or 2 million exp you can get the "farmer's" emote!

How does that sound now?

-edit- i'm not sure legit players who simply get millions of exp from playing UW/FoW quests alot will appreciate being called 'farmers'

If they have done them already why are they doing them again over and over?
For experience you say, fantastic emote will be appreciated then.

doing all missions bonuses and quests and getting 15k armor and some FoW quests, SF quests will get you about a million(from quests + all the repeatedness to get everything)...I know that's about where I was before I started farming with my necro.

That I would support after all PvE is supposed to be about those. Give some people a reason to actually beat the game.

As to the skills suggestion that seems cool/useful too...but I still worry about the elitism and I would benefit from it so it's not just me worrying about looking bad personally

no, you're simply misconstruing what i said
guess some people enjoy playing the PvE game as opposed to solo farming/2 man UW

if you take into account the failure rates of PUGs to clear UW/FoW quests, it's not unimaginable to see them hitting over 2million exp

digressing a little here, but i guess the original topic of exp emotes has already been shot down, so no harm done

You already have all the "vanity items" to show how long you've been playing PvE. The reason there are PvP emotes is because PvP characters come and go like the wind, it's the only thing they have to give an indication as to how experienced they are.

This idea ranks along side the "PvEers should get $100,000 too!" one.

Lets put it another way: Do you want the BOT farmers to get all the best emotes? If it's based on experience, they will.

I signed off on this idea a while ago. I'd land in the undecided category now. My fear is that, much like PvP, Emote Elitism will creep into PvE with simular abandon:

"R9 group forming for SF farm; flash emote before I invite"

*shudders*

Not all "experienced" players are experienced. Think about the flak PvEers are giving PvPers who insist on rank in mission. The "because we didn't fame farm, we don't get into good groups" in HoH. PvE has managed to avoid most of this because there is no standard to measure who is good and who is bad. Once there is a way to chaeck, it will become a requirment to complete...and compete.

If its done (and from Gaile's comment, it is a forgone conclusion that it will be) then it needs to be based on something other than experience. Even then I fear newbs getting the short end when playing missions.

I think the only way to make it fair would be based on missions completed, or total damage dealt/amount of health healed averages, or something that couldn't be obtained by farming the living snot out of monsters.

After all, does proving that you can farm lots of exp prove you are an asset to a team? Not by a long shot.

Then again, /rank doesnt prove you're a great PvP'er either.

To be perfectly honest, if they do make a PvE "measuring stick", fine. if they don't, fine. There are better things to worry about

Well, so far FoW armor for PvE work exactly like a /rank for PvP...

But I certainly wouldn't mind getting a /rank like for PvE as well, now that GvG'er got a special cape.

Even if this PvE-Eote would just be used for Farming-groups, I still couldn't tell anyone how experience you are with a certain kind of Farming build or area. I mean, you could have made it all in FOW and have no idea of Tombs, but you could join an Sf-Team and tell them all what to do, cause you have the emote.
Really, I can see it:
1- Noob, you have under 1.000.000EXP, I know better.
2- I've been doing this run for 4 weeks, several times a day, and you did this run how often? 2-3 times?
1- Well, so? Doesn't matter cause I have the emote!
2-

You can buy gold off eBay to get fissure armor, you can't buy experience off eBay. Bots don't count.
