4) Despite the little green arrows showing where to go for quests, the area still isn't that friendly. People don't do all the quests and heck, don't even half the time do the secondary profession quest. Make it more n00bs friendly.
5) Argh money sink evil. 40 gold for a 5 use object but 10 gold for the ordinary salvage kit? why dont we just switch it to 10 gold for 5 use object 40 gold for 25 use object, make the expert one 50 or 60 then (or it could already be, I didnt look)
6) something i forget

Salvage kits, sell them back when you have one salvage left you get half your money back.

A fantastic game to say the least! I would like to say please don't delay the release of the game for the sake of appeasing these requests. I'm 56 now and I could die of old age before I get to play the released version. I could play the game for days as it stands now and even if no changes were made I'm happy with it. I'm a soloer by nature and I love that aspect of the game as much as i enjoy partying up. This was my 3rd beta and I say the game just keeps getting better and better.

Some suggestions/questions:
Reward some quests with other than experience, perhaps gold.

Explain salvaging in the tutorial. It first appears you can only salvage items labeled as "salvageable". I was all the way through the first beta before I realized I could salvage junk weapons. As a result I saved lots of inventory space and produced more crafting materials by carrying a salvage kit. I also didn't know I could salvage unequipable rare weapons instead of selling them for 2 gold ( I got a bow string doing that ).

When you click on a player to form your own party, shouldn't it say "recruit" instead of "join"? A little confusing at first as to who is joining and who is recruiting.

Shift + PrintScreen didn't work for me to uncapture the UI. In fact it didn't even take the screenshot.

When you select an enemy you automatically attack it. ( Whoops, I'm a level 4 and I just attacked a level 8 )

The quick weapon select bar overlapped the skill bar by one full skill signet in ( in 800x600 res. anyway ) Maybe this was something I could have fixed using the customized option?

Is there any way to view your characters total armor stats? I didn't find one.

I don't know what "value" means under an items description. Is it gold value? Aesthetic value? If it means gold, then why does something with a value of 2 sell for 1 gold?

When you drag and drop to sell to an outfitter, shouldn't the item disappear from your inventory before you hit the sell button? I mean, you just dragged it out, didn't you?

Things I wouldn't change:
The hidden stashes and chests...nice touch.

The bag/inventory system. I like the idea of limiting what you can carry and earning or buying more space as you progress, but that's just me.

The corpses being targetable.. I think that's there for the sake of the necros.

Pre-seared Ascalon. It may be too easy for some, but I figure that's why the academy is there-they can leave any time they want. I loved it so much, I stayed there exploring until almost level 9. I like hunting for hard to find settlements and towns Putting places like Barridin Estates off the beaten trail is great. The catacombs were fantastic.

Just a comment:
If 5 out of 6 in your party want to skip the cinematics and you want to see it, can't you feel the peer pressure?

In all a great game! I've already pre-ordered. Can't wait. It will be very interesting to see what comes out with expansion packs. I plan to buy them too.

I was inspired last night....

What do you guys think of an auctioneer? In the towns?

Concept: Town auctioneer...

You got an item for sale... you go to auctioneer and give it to him and set an asking price. You go away and check back later...

You are looking for something... You go to auctioneer and ask to buy items.
You look at list and click the one you want... The price is set by the seller and if you want it you make the bid. (this sends a page to the seller [like a guild page anywhere even while questing] and he either accepts it or rejects it) !accept !reject I don't know.
If accept the auctioneer give the item for the gold...
If reject the Item is retained by the auctioneer to be returned to seller

When the seller comes back he either picks up his gold or picks up his item left for sale.

This allows for NPC selling your items without having to stay in the town to get rid of it. And let you get back to the FUN part of guildwars which is the running around killing stuff..

Ingram of Haz

PS: I'm still pushing for the Guild Armories though. I liked that idea better.

Okay, here's my ideas for the game.

1) Mounts - We'd love mounts. It would help transportation from area to area and everybody knows it, mounts are awsome. There should be a mount shop in some towns or you could tame one. You'd probably have to get off the mount in order to keep balance whenever you attack. In town you could buy a mount and when you go outside your mount would be waiting for you, similar to the pets.

2) Pets - Also more pets for the ranger would be nice, Stalkers and Striders are fine and I believe there's a few others, but a wide array of pets would really give some variety instead of seeing a whole bunch of stalkers.

3) Ability to Name Pets - It's realy annoying to see a bunch of Stalkers and have no idea which one is yours when you're playing with more than one ranger. In order to differenciate between party members and pets in the party health gauges, the pet's name could simply be followed by "(pet)."

4) Identification Costs - It costs WAY too much to identify stuff, most of which is entirly usless to identify. I'm sure there's enough people agreeing on this and hope to see some change in it by next beta.

5) Animate Dead Time - It takes a long time to do and no matter what level you are, how many attributes you put in death magic, it always stays the same. Perhaps the time taken to use this could be variable and decrease as you go along. Or there could be another spell similar to it titled fast animation that always raises the same level bone horror as animate dead, but goes faster and takes more energy to cast. On a side note, Additional skills that animate different types of bone horrors like ones that could possibly be faster than others and have faster degeneration, bone horrors that cast hexes instead of attacking physically, or (and this may be going a little too far) a horror that's sould perpose is to raise other bone horrors.

6) Hot Keys - Maybe you could type in the commands you want and then the abbreviation for them. This would make actions such as pointing, roaring, bowing, and yes, dancing faster and more natural as responses. Not highest on the priorty list, but it would be nice

Okay, those are my ideas for now, tell me what you guys think.

/follow
I think I may have mentioned this, or someone else has.
Anyway, /follow (or a hotkey for it, or a button) would be nice. I realize now that you can select a target and hit space (I did not know this while playing the BETA, but learned it from browsing these forums).. but there should be a follow option that continues, even once the person has stopped moving. So, if a person has to pause and check their map, then continue running - your character will continue to follow. Good for when people go BRB/AFK for a few moments (to use the bathroom, grab a snack, pick their nose, whatever lol ), or when one person is just leading a group of people around.

Guild practice, maybe some sort of 1v1 challenges, maybe some 2v2 or 4v4 or something smaller could make it easier for some clans to get into GvG (give them all their own ladder or whatever).

Its hard to tell what kind of player your recruiting for your guild because its difficult to try them out.

I like the ideas these last two guys after me said. I also have one more of my own.

Tatoos - Tatoos could just be another way to customize your character. There could also be magical tatoos that increase certain stats or help attributes.

I think the game and players would benefit from having a personal journal in which you can make entries of information or item locations you have discovered. Also an interactive map that you can place pins on (with descriptions of the location it represents) that appear when you put your cursor over it would be a definent benefit.I play NWN and these benefits stated above are in the game and are a great addition. (also good for making a hitlist in game)

i thought the game was great! this was my first time playing! my suggestions are- in the very beggining when you found your secondary proffesion, i was looking for the secondary warrior profession, and i looked for and hour and i could not find him! so i gave up and went into the academy, thinking id get another chance, but i didnt so i had to restart so i think either the guy should be made eaisyer to find or have more descriptive instructions

also, my guild was in the middle of the first page on the ladder and dropped down to the top of the 3rd page :/ so i am thinking of tactics for the map, but in the new FF you said there will be randomly chosen maps, witch takes away alot of the tactics and strategy part

and my last suggestion is i think that you should have another chat option to chat with other guilds, so like for new applcants that arnt members can join or if you have a bunch of friends on another guild, its a pain to add all them to your friends list

Well, I unfortunately do not have near enough time to read everything here, but to point out and hopefully quell some of the anger towards the bag system.

I have seen bags for 100 gold, I didnt think that was pricey at all, I mean sell two dyes and you can have enough for that...

You can actually either press the hotkey given to each 'container' thing, or when you open up your inventory, click the bar that has the name of the container on it ( i.e. Backpack or bag) and then drag. TAH DAH! They separate! You can do this for all of them, and actually have every container open at the same time without having your inventory screen up (the screen with your character in it).

I actually think that provided me more organization then the old inventory. I would put all my crafting items in one bag, dyes and runes and rings in another bag, rares and stuff on the belt, and then weapons in the backpack. I felt really organized just by doing that and I could find stuff without even having to think where I put it.

They are within containers. I believe they are between containers too, but I cant remember for sure.

This post is pretty long, I did my best to skim. Hoping I'm not repeating anyone here, but this was one suggestion I had.

Levels 1-10 the arena is fun because it's a way to gain experience if you enjoy PVP.

At level 20 however, the arena is fun for a few hours but becomes pointless and boring after a while. Now I know most of you would just say, "OK noob, if it's so boring go do the tournament or do guild vs guild."

That is definitely an alternative, but I know when I was playing in the arena my team and I had some runs of over 40 straight wins. After about 15 we starting saying, "Man, this is just too easy...I hope we get a challenge." By win 30 we were saying, "Holy crap, 30 wins a row?? We should be getting paid for this LOL." Now, wouldn't the arena be a whole lot more fun if you got some kind of a reward? I can assure you that it wouldn't have been boring nearly as fast for me or my team if we had earned something (even something as little as a gold or two).

Gold, a ranking system, even something that just tracked your stats in the arena (wins / losses, damage done / taken, saves / combacks, etc.) would make it more worthwhile. The tournament is fun, but more often than not you get grouped with a bunch of idiots that don't know how to play the game. Guild vs Guild is also fun, but only if my 7 other good players come on and play with me. I am just looking for a way to have fun by myself or with a friend .

I also think it would be a lot of fun to have an arena type of match where you can select your team mates. Not all of us are lucky enough to have 8 solid players on 24/7 that we have developed good teamwork with. I know for me, I have 3 friends that are always on with me and we are always trying to get on the same arena team. Sometimes 2 of us get lucky and get on the same team, and we have a whole lot of fun, and generally win 30-50 matches in a row.

The combination of a 4v4 organized team battle and a reward system for consistantly winning in the arena would really make the game a whole lot more enjoyable, atleast for myself.

As for what the reward is, here are some suggestions:

1) Gold. Everyone needs gold. Set up a system where winning more matches nets you more gold. Something like 1 win = 1 gold, but 5 wins = 10 or 15 gold. It doesn't have to be a lot, just something to make it feel like there is a point to playing after your 30th win a row.

2) Skill points. From what I hear, after winning enough in the tournament you get a skill point. Make some kind of rediculous goal here like 25 wins in a row gets you fame, and x fame gets you a skill point.

3) Random drop. After each victory everyone in the group gets a random drop. Consecutive wins increase the chance of getting a rare item. For example, after winning your 30th game in a row, the odds of you getting a skill ring or a rare sword would be significantly higher than your first win.

4) Special skills. The only reasoned I played DAoC for almost 3 years instead of a few months was the PVP reward system. A good reward system is crucial for pvp to be worthwhile and work in the long term. In DAoC they had realm points, killing players got you realm points. The better (higher ranked) players got you more realm points. X realm points got you a new realm rank and realm skill point. With x realm skill points you could get a special skill that made you more effective in battle. If this game had skills you could only earn via the arena or tournament it would be awesome. The ladder for guild vs guild is a great alternative to a reward, but it doesn't account for the tournament and arena.

You could also design some kind of an organized single or double elimination tournament. The idea being that say 8 or 16 groups of people all put in an enterance fee and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams recieved a prize based off the enterance fee. Single elimination would be the easiest, and would just run like the playoffs in any professional sport.

I'm sure most of you think it's a stupid idea, but I thought it would be fun .

Monks have Tatoos which basically act like any other type of 'armor'. Purely athesetic marks would be interesting though; maybe at least good enough for a gold drop (keep the amount of gold amongst the players less).

This is assuming that the only reason for level 20's is to experiment with potential builds. Maybe nobody else had that problem but at least 4 of my desired skills were sold at very out of the way locations if they were at all and I don't have the 200 gold to buy a skill ring and charm from somebody.
yeah, I guess I wouldnt mind that for Beta, I didnt have trouble getting to the Skill Trainers, but that is because I used the maps and was usually able to run to most of the places without to much trouble. I got two characters to all of the Skill Trainers in Kryta without a problem or much time spent.

As for some skills not being available, that was really annoying having the only way of getting a skill was to gamble for it. I wouldn't be suprised if I spent a good.....1000-2000 gold just gambling for a skill I wanted.....to no avail, I have yet to get it .

Anyone who wants to sell, just puts their stuff on auction and waits for the first person come along and buy it....no heckling, or "I'm over by the fire". As long as I recall right, that they are planning on putting an auction system in, I don't think we should bother reccommending any trading changes. I believe that will solve our problems. If I'm wrong.... Then I suggest they put an auction system in.
I really like this idea. I played Ultima Online on a POL server (user created server) for a while and they had an auctioneer. The way it worked is you went to the auctioneer, and placed your item up for auction. You'd list the starting price and were able to choose length of time you wanted it to be on auction. 1hr up to 7 days I think was the default there.

After the item was on the auctioneer, other users could come and bid on it. They also made it so that if a user bid on an item, you didn't have to wait two weeks for them to get the money they bid. The way this was done is you placed money into a Auction account so to speak. (ie. User deposits 100 Gold onto the auctioneer, he/she then could bid up to 100 gold on items listed on the auctioneer and no more unless more money was deposited on the auctioneer)

I'd love to see this incorporated along with a chat filter or customizable chat panes (like SWG) so that you could filer out what you do and don't want to hear. This would cut down on spam a lot and also make a nice place to sell/buy things.

It'd be nice that if the Explorable Map is account based, that way if a person wants the map to be fully showing they don't have to explore it for each character.

BUT, limit quick city traveling to Characters so people can't just completely skip over huge portions of the game.

Cicciro

Then what would be the point? The reason people want a fully explored map per account is so that they can fast travel. I say allow fulyl explored map with cities and the like, but make it have an on off switch so it will be optional for those who say they don't want it.

Saving Skill Set-Ups
As mentioned here, maybe a way to save the skill set-ups (up to five or ten). So as an elementaist, I could make a whole set-up of just fire, then another set-up of just air.. so depending on the mission/mood I'm in, I can switch to these set-ups without having to individually place each skill in. Saves on time. Not anything big though.

I like this suggestion A Lot!!!

Quote:
A chain of skills could also be set up (for example, hitting a macro would have my character cast "Phantom Pain" and right afterwards, "Conjure Phantasm")

Sacred does this through their Combo Skills and it is Very Cool! You have to find a Master to make the combo skill for you, but that is just another interesting quest...

The February event was my first experience playing GW. If the entry point (time before the searing) is supposed to be a tutorial, there should be training on use of the interface, as well as game play. Of course, for experienced players that are starting their 2nd character, they should be able to toggle this off.

As for quests, I have two suggestions. One, after the searing, the quests left over from the tutorial should be wiped out. I don't think Thom is still looking for a new cape after that disaster. Also, for the quests after the searing, there could be an option (per quest) that would allow you to turn on the direction assistance tool. There could be a penalty of say 50% experience for the quest for using that aid.

zersenser, The Beginner NPC is a great idea. but if it was going to be implemented into the game id really like it if there was choice to talk to him. example: your new an npc approuches you and surgests if you would like some basic knowledge of the game to get you started: yes or no. if player chooses yes, sub catagouries should appear, example:

- fighting,
- moving around the world
- trading
- quests
- magic
- Advance stuff
- misc stuff

The player then click on which of the topics they dont understand or are not firmillar with. each one should include a deminstration, and chance for you to act our the deminstration. though help Bots, need to be clear explain things easily for everyone to understand.

And yeah if you chose no. the npc would leave saying if you ever need help you can find me here: (here meaning 1 place in the first town you start off, and 1 place after the war in the broken up arcalon city.)

But its a really helpful idea to any new player, especally if they not going to produce a manuel with the game.

To start off I have been playing GW since the WPE and have loved every second of it. From the beautifull landscapes to the phenominal game play that keeps me on the edge of my chair all night long (and its a comfortable chair )

I have quite a few suggestions but since most of them have been covered quite extensively I am only going to post on those that havent.

As both twin raven and sir teg have stated some way to auto assign you to a group that is ready to do the current mission at hand. Something like how the battle arena is/was setup near LA. This would most definatly help rid some of the hassles associated with getting a group together as well as encourage group play.

I truely love the direction this game has been taking and plan to be with it for every expansion. Keep up the marvelous work!

I would like to be able to "try out" armor just to see how it looks on me and such. I think of this because I am the type of guy who doesn't care about how strong a character I have. Even if I loose, I want to look good as I fall to the ground.

A small trail of blood coming out from under a corpse/body would be a nice touch too. Also, when we are ressurected by something, a smudge of blood should be left there from when we previously died to show that we effected the world a little more, and make it look a little more like the battle has been going on for a long time, and not that the priest or a player is practically hitting the "reset button" when we come back to life?(except for the dp, that was a good move)

Plus for skills like Hundred Blades, I remember the Warrior spinning while doing that attack at one point... but now, the attack looks just like the rest...why did that happen?

I haven't used the warrior earthquake yet, but if he doesn't jump in the air and then bash his hammer into the ground, then I would also like to see that.

When a Necro sacrifices some blood, could you maybe show the necro splitting his wrist and then raising his arms in the air or something?

Plus, I want to be able to dye any part of my armor as I want to. (kind of like in the game Neverwinter Nights).

Also, I think that you should make it so the more dye you add on to an armor or any avatar piece, the more that color it becomes. That way, colors can be a lot more destinct then they currently are. Plus this would help make characters look more destinct, which was one of your company's goals in this game.

From what I've seen, people still look the same, the only differences between some of the characters are the skills they use, and for that I thank you. I hope you plan to add more faces and different looks for armor in the upcoming beta events. Plus, I think there should be more looks for the axes, swords, and hamers. In most other games I've played, there has been at least 15 different looks of a sword and 15 different looks for an axe.

Plus, I think you should be able to position your rangers and warriors wherever you want in GvG, so the other team doesn't know where they are going to be at until they see them. Also, I would like to see my guild symbol on the flag we carry, and when its planted on the flag post, the other flags that currently change colors according to what flag has been put on the flag post should also have the guild symbols for when each guild plants their flag. Personally, I have a bad memory for remembering what color our flag was, and assume that our flag is the one on the flag post.

Plus, I think there should be more skills that can make you immune to different types of conditions. I already see you have balanced stance to make you immune to knockdown, but whatabout something like, "mummify", which makes you not able to bleed or suffer a deep wound?

Plus, I would like to see a kind of pathway on the GvG map that connects the side paths to the center where the flag is so we can come up with better approach strategies, and escaping strategies.

Also, I think that during GvG, the compass should be a little smaller so the enemy isn't able to know how you plan to attack and where you are attacking from.

Also, I kinda wish that there could be capital colored letters by people's names on the side health bars of teammates, to represent when someone is Hexed (H), Conditioned (C), Enchanted (E).

And also, I know that you guys are going to work in the GvG maps more, so I would like to suggest a good map area to fight at: The Beach. And also, each map should be able to outlook on another part of an area of a GvG map.

From the guild hall, I would like to able to go the a beachy part of the map and look out into the ocean maybe see a glimpse of the rest of the world on the other side of the ocean for a little more realism.

Also, I remember by Rotscale somewhere that I could walk under a dock and walk in the water, and then reach the end of the world. Maybe if you made the world a little round, that way when you reach the end of the world, you teleport to the opposite part of the world. Such as you walked so far west to reach the end of the world, you would end up somewhere near Ascalon on the East side of the map.

I would like to see a lot more frogs in swamp areas too, or if there are some, make more of them, plus more noticable fishes (if there were any to begin with) in the water on some missions...

Also, if I was walking along the beach somewhere, I would like to see a beached whale laying on the sand or something..maybe not that depressing though... like shells...shells are good...giant shells...

OH and a poll or a spring in the guild hall. And also, people get a little tired standing and sitting on the floor on the guild hall. Could there maybe be a couple chairs or a "Round Table" with chairs around it for in game meetings?

Also, I hope you guys make more emotes such as crying, where it can show a character wiping their eyes. Also a fake dead emote where you fall to the ground and get up at will.

AND THE SECOND MOST IMPORTANT THING I THINK: When you repair the cataplult, the catapult should only be able to fire about 6 shots off, and then breaks again so you have to get the repair kit once again.

Also, I think that there should be more animals that you can charm for ranger, such as a raven, snake, or a monkey.... well thats all I could think of right now...hope someone takes the time to read this... no matter how bad I typed or how stupid the things I want to see implemented in guild wars are.

The green team in pvp is very hard to distinguish from the friendly green dots. Either make it a very different shade of green or go for another color entirely.

NO GORE!?
What did they now change the the name of the game to Guild Buddies?

I think the title (GUILD WARS) clearly states that it has gore in it.
But, I do understand that you where trying to prove a point that they may not have blood in the game.

Yes I am a n00b to GW, but not to these types of games or gaming in general. Like Ciarre, I am a 40 yr female who games more than her husband! So getting thru the this past weekend wasn't too difficult. I was at a level 7 before entering the academy. I soloed most of the n00b drop area except for the apple run and finding Thom. My character is ranger/warrior.

Many of my suggestions have already been discussed:
 1. chat & associated issues - team messages got lost in the barrage, people spamming emotes, etc.
 2. item storage long & short term - I do like the chest idea in Diablo 2.
 3. easier enemy targetting
 4. where in the world did that green quest arrow go! Sometimes it was there, & sometimes it wasn't.
 5. Those elephant looking animals standing up & then dropping to the ground repeatedly.
 6. Pets attacking other "friendlies" Now that was completely annoying.
 7. key rebinding
 8. better quest info (couldn't find that Thom guy to save my life!!)
 9. Thom wouldn't take his bear coat. (how rude!)
 10. Never did kill the monster in the cave near the water wheel.
 11. The entering the academy thing wasn't clear (like that it is the next step in the process).
 12. Even with henchmen, the enemy surrounds me (& usually killed me)
 13. The ranger is not strongest in his/her primary weapon - the bow. even with the attributes cranked up there. I found the ranger did more damage w/ melee weapons. And arrows do you no good when the enemies run right up to you to chomp on you.
 14. Now this could be an armor problem, but my ranger died ALOT (not in the n00b area though).
 15. That Res signet for free, never realized i could get it.
 16. What's up w/ quest items that don't leave you? Was there something more to be done w/ say like the egg or the tapestry piece? This was not clear.
 17. How about a 1st person mode?
 18. How about making my char semi transparent so i can see through myself to what is going on in front of me?
 19. Only 8 skills available! If you've earned a skill that is instrinsic to your character is should just be available. I can understand having spells, healing and other "special" attacks needing to be selected. But since you don't know what you will be facing, choosing the appropriate skills before hand can be a crap shoot, or so it especially seemed with the ranger.
 20. A map for when in town w/ locations of the npcs. And how about once you've found them in missions, their location info stays in your map?
 21. Better identification of emenies & their health status & who is hexed or whatever.
 22. Losing my pet!!! My pet would die, we'd get to the next town, my pet didn't come back every time. He did in the n00b world, but not in the academy world.
 23. Better designation of which pet is mine. I was in a party w/ 3 pets. Since mine had not reappeared for a while i didn't realize that one of them was mine!
 24. Why is it when you die then get rez-ed, the dropped stuff that was assigned to you becomes open to all. If I don't get rez-ed I understand, but if I do then why take it away from me.
 25. It would be nice to have the option when you pick up dropped stuff to keep, give away, or just drop. Apparently this was available in a previous version.
 26. better designation of where my sorry butt lay dead in the little round map so I can beg for the rez-o-matic...
 27. the chat window closes when you transition from town to mission or misson to town. Why?
 28. a better way to find people who want to go out in on a mission.
 29. a better way/designation of your team members when in town.
 30. more info on team members when in the mission...i forget who is the monk or mesmer or necro....all you have is names..it'd be nice if there was the designation after the name like George the Great Ne/Mo 7, not just George the Great.
 31. I found there was a lag in team msgs, I managed to catch up w/ my party before the msg came through for me to stay where i was. So the team leader got frustrated w/ me because of that.
 32. How about an idiot box that says do you really want to quit the game when you hit the x in the top left corner.
 33. How about a message that warns when you're using a regular salvage kit on a non-regular item.
 34. more bang for the buck when shopping.
 35. better prices when you resell. It cost me 20, now I only get 2 back...forget that...I salvage.
 36. how about better indication of resell value. I think it was in there somewhere, but not sure..
 37. The ability to assign different chat responses to keys. So I'm typing less.
Three times my game froze, twice while on a mission transitioning to another scene, and once when in town. Had to hard reset the computer, which results in XP needing to check the file system, which means it takes about 15 mins to get back in the game!!

I enjoyed the game, have the preorder package, and will buy when it is released.

Thanks! Lioness the Wild

I was just reminded of this from another thread

If you are trying to recruit people in these HUGE MASSES of people, and they private message you and say they will join, its impossible to find them, when you click on their name in chat you should also select their person so that you can invite them to join you or trade with them.

Everyone seems to have some good input and critiques. Here's my 2 cents.

I only played the weekend event as "Random Adent", and sadly didn't sleep much. I LOVED the PvP!!! I was an avid WoW player, but once I reached lvl 60 I got bored and quit.

This Game's PvP has staying power. I even had a few suggestions on some cool additions.

1. Have some announcer, and/or score board to tell the winning team how many matches straight they dominated (maybe even avg time per match?), and let the challenger know what they are getting into.

2. Leaving a party when I "travel" isreally frustrating. It is a hassle to regroup with my friends. It would be nice to have a prompt asking if you want to join the remaining group in a designated district, or default the whole group to the same district.

3. I really didn't get much PvE in (just till level 9) because I enjoyed the arena so much. I luckly didn't get to level 11 from PvP but I heard the arena in Ascalon has a lvl 10 cap and I never found the lvl 11+ arena. I know many people were annoyed at not being able to PvP after reaching lvl 11. I know I would appreciate a 'rail-roading' to the next PvP arena.

Thank God there is finally an MMO with decent strategy in PvP. I'm no poop-socker but I love fantasy MMO's. GW looks really great, and I'm sure will be ironed out by release.

EDIT: Did anyone else find the equipment lacking?
I remember one major thrill of Diablo was that I might find some awesome loot that would stoke my character imediately. But I only encountered three different armor sets, very few desirable weapons, and only one crafter by the time I was level 10. Maybe more equipmet would be nice?

I am a new player, first time this weekend.

Suggestions are:
1) Friends menu could use an improvement to be able to "Join party" or "Goto same District" etc... Finding and joining friends needs improvement, you should not be forced to go to the same town and run around to click on a friend.
2) Targetting system in battle is not fun, it would be nice if we were able to choose a preference between protecting other players, and attacking the enemy. This preference would then tie into a "Next target" quick key. Perhaps have a "Target Next Closest Enemy", and "Target Biggest Enemy" quick keys. Maybe I just do not know the quick keys already, but it was painful to click on enemies during battle, specially when they are running around and there are items on the ground constantly getting in the way of chosing a monster. Perhaps a CTRL or ATL key coul dbe used to highlight or filter only enemies, items, and friends.
3) the Party window, and other status windows that appear on the screeen during battles, should be re-sizeable / scalable. When working at various resolutions it takes up too much space and besides that, every playershas his or her preference on the amount of screen relestate they want to dedicate to these various windows
4) it is tough to know if going through a portal is part of the current quest or not, and it also resets everything you have just accomplished, so this going through a portal should be a choice or confirmation. It would be nice if it did maintain the state you left that area, including the map details of where you have traveled and what you have kiled - that is needed
5) it would be nice of you can mark things or make notes on the map so as to remember a road you never went down or keys elements on the map to go back to, and the map shold not resest to an empty state when you go into another area.
6) the camera angles with trees and mountians needs alot of work. These items make some of the areas pretty to look at from afar, but when navigating and battling they should either disappear or never get between my character and the camera. Working the camera was the worst part of this game for me. I forsee that if nothing changes in this matter I will soon become bored with the constant customizing of the camea angle I want. Every area or 20 steps I am forced to adjust the camera angle or zoom factor, and sometimes the beautiful trees fill up the screen.
7) I hear many people talking about the inventory system, my input is give them the bags size they want, but modify the characters attributes if they chose to walk around or go in to combat with a completely full bag. For example, make the character move much slower when they are walking miles will 40+ items. There should be a fatigue attribute that would force these collectors and wealth generating people to stop and rest - make them think about all the junk thay are lugging around and the value of each item.
8) I liked the concept that anyone could join and theoretically the new person would be able to accomplish the same tasks a higher level person would - but unfortunately this did not prove out in anything I experienced in the game this weekend
9) I do not like the concept of going to a specific town or location in a town to have a PvP duel, Random Team battles (is Random the only choice or did I miss somehting). I feel there should be a straight menu item or some other method to directly join type of game you want and the district.
10) Another player should also be able join a Quest in progress, and kick out a chosen computer player. Or if a human player leaves a computer player replaces him.
11) There needs to be a better way to control the computer players while in a mission. I often found the Monk or Elementilist battling toe to toe with me, the Warrior.

Overall I played way too much this weekend, and enjoyed myself some, and was frustrated others, but I am undecided on wherether I will actually make the purchase from my Pre-order. I feel what has been created so far is a very stable with soem areas of imrovement as always, but it is very playable in its current state. GOOD JOB and push it further to make this an Excellent product. I do like the creative pricing options of paying once, and free online.

My suggestions might not be that important and I don't know if they've been brought up earlier but I'll list them anyway... It's only two:

1. Necro hairstyle: Long hair and/or bald... I want my necro as long-haired as me or maybe bald, just because that's the way I have always played my necro and I bet there are other people out there who would love that as well.
(My necro ain't a Punk! He's a metalhead goddamnit! )

2. Naming your pet: I wasn't there in the february event because I didn't have time, but if this isn't possible yet: just do it cause it's easier to see your pet if it's named and I think many people would like to see this happen (or maybe make the looks customizable?)

And yeah if you chose no. the npc would leave saying if you ever need help you can find me here: (here meaning 1 place in the first town you start off, and 1 place after the war in the broken up arcalon city.)

But its a really helpful idea to any new player, especally if they not going to produce a manuel with the game.
Even if they do produce a manual, I don't understand why it would be considered good enough to replace in-game help. A manual is static, the game will change - what then? Oh fansites, well I've never really liked the idea of going outside the game to read up on changes and updates. Why some staffer can't sit down for fifteen minutes and write an in-game, relevant intro to some changes is beyond me. New quests and the like can be part of the story line that makes a game more of an adventure. Too many fansites read like engineering white papers and that reduces the game to just numbers.

I think the Monk profeesion needs to have energy storage. All my characters have a monk profession. I do alot of healing along with having a monk henchman, but sometimes she doesn't do her job and I have to step in, but with being in a battle and healing my team mates I run out of energy and end up dying myself do to lack of energy to heal myself.

Feb was my first GW experience.

I liked the pre-seared area. I thought the elementalist might've been a little hard to find, but not that bad.

1) inventory was tough. adding belts and bags was OK, but cumbersome. One suggestion (that I've never seen done) is to expand the inventory area when you add bags and belts, buy a number of rows. Make the backpack 8 colums, and 3 rows, then add a row for the belt, and 2 rows for each bag, for a total of 64 squares max. All items are part of your "inventory", but are all in one area, for salvage/identify, etc.

2) maps. The world is huge, and the signposts were confusing. I was told to find serenity temple, but spent hours finding out that it was nowhere nearby. I still don't know where it is If there was a general map, with regions/important landmarks, finding would have been easier, but the trip was supposed to be the fun.

3) make a dye vendor. Great way to spend cash without altering the game, and in Old Ascaron, most of the talk was 2 things... buying/selling colored dyes, and buying/selling crafting supplies. A vendor selling the supplies at outrageous prices (10 gold for a bolt of cloth), might've cut down on the latter, but possibly altering game mechanics.

4) I still had 2 quests left over from before the searing. quests should be wiped if there's no going back, it was annoying to keep seeing that I was solving the "party with another player" quest, for a signet.

I have a suggestion about quest items. I think that when a group searching for a quest item finds the item - mutiple copies should be dropped (1 for each person in the group that has the quest).

I was working with a friend in the pre-searing map and we both had the poison devourer spine quest. After killing it, it only dropped one spine tagged for my friend. I don't know if we both would've gotten credit if we walked to abbey to finish the quest (we just jumped there to save time but that breaks the group up).

A similar thing occured post-searing with the census quest. 4 people in the group with the quest and only 1 census found.

This game is supposed to be anti-grind - so making a group repeat the same quest over and over for each member is kinda annoying.

It doesn't? Ugh. That's one thing I dislike most about KALOnline. Over there the one who deals the most damage gets the drops whether it's loot or quest items. As a result not many people like to party over there. You'd think I'd like that being a solo player, BUT, it makes it harder to complete a quest when the quest item drop average is 1 per 8 to 10 kills, you need 40 of the item, and there are 10-20 people competing for the same mobs to finish the quest. That's when most of the nasty cursing and trash talk starts and KAL has an ASSASSIN mechanism whereby putting on a mask allows you to PK people without permission as opposed to dueling. ASSASSINs have started holding certain areas hostage as a result. Even if they don't PK, the nasty ones engage in KSing everything in site to try to drive you out.

I'll have to rethink that whole "I may break by solo career" thing if the rinse and repeat continues as you stated.

I absolutely agree to this one. The same exact thing happened to me. And when you had to run w/ the apple basket + not get killed URG!! It was hard enough the 1st time w/ 2 of us. then i had to repeat it again by myself.

Before any of my suggestions are made, I would like to congratulate and applaud all who have contributed to Guildwars. This game has a lot of promise.

I have only a few minor suggestions so far:
1. A one button toggle for turning the UI on and off would be nice for screenshots. Perhaps there is a function for this, but as far as I could tell you can only deselect one window at a time and not all the windows are deselectable (Group and Menu Button).

2. There should be a way to return to the character select screen without exiting all the way to the log-in screen.

3. I think it would be helpful to be able to move to a selected spot on the mini maps and world map (not instantaneously like world map town travel). Example: Clicking on a spot on your radar view or map starts the character walking towards selected destination.

4. I saw a post suggesting preset skill selections. I like this idea. You could have sets for particular PvP or PvE conditions.

Thank you for making a great game. I will be playing all future betas and hope to help you guys make Guildwars the best MMG!
