I would suggest you go back to EQ

You didn't get a Guild Wars Quick Reference Guide? Its just a two page foldout type "card" that has the keyboard and slash commands on it.

Anything good for PvP should be GREAT for PvE.

Any combo that includes Monk, is wanted for the healage. How you endup performing, will of course determine if you are invited by the same people again.

I have a question about skill points. I see that I get 200 skill points to distribute in various areas...my question is how/when do I get skill points? Do I get one SP for each level I gain? Do I get SPs from quests? When I go to my trainer(s), will it look sometime like DAoC where I'll have my "schools of magic" so to speak and I train my SPs in them? Am I correct in assuming that more SPs in a certain line grants you more spells/skills? Or is it just more powerful levels of spells/skills in that line?

I have a few questions. Is there any direct line of communiaction between players and the company? In WoW, they have official forums, and you can post suggestions are problems, and community managers takes these concerns to the devs, and they also bring info from devs to the players. Without an official forum with Guild Wars, I dont see how this can be done. Also, I was looking at the skill comaprison thing on the homepage here are guild wars guru. There are a lot of skills. Is it overwhelming or confusing? Looing at it I was thinking, "I would have no idea what to do." Lastly, concering PvP, are the battles instanced? Does your guild decide to do some PvP and everyone gets together and goes into the instanced arena? I read there was capture the flag, how is that? Thanks in advance.

That's my biggest concern too...I worry about taking too long or something to grasp the skills that I want to use and then kinda being left in the dust, so to speak. I think being limited to 8 skills kind of helps...unlike WoW where you can have unlimited skills at your disposal you have to pick them ahead of time so only have 8 buttons to worry about on missions and during PvP.

My biggest challenge will be learning what each skill does, what is most effective in situations, and then also which ones I prefer over others. I'm hoping the game has a strong enough solo/PvE dynamic that I'll have time to get a solid grip on the mechanics before PvPing.

I would not be so quick to make those kinds of broad statements. A shutdown mesmer which is critical on a lot of PvP teams would not contribute much on a PvE team.

And not all monk are healers. Some monks are build as a protection monks and/or smiting monks. Depending on the scenario these types of monks can be more effective than healing monks.

i'm a brand spanking new player (although i've had the game for more than a couple of hours now...so i'm more of a new player and shouldn't consider myself all that brand spanking) to guild wars and so far i'm really enjoying myself. still exploring the tutorial as a warrior/mesmer.

earlier when i logged on i found that i had gotten an invitation to join a guild. i ask myself "why not" and accept the invitation. after talking a bit to my guildies, someone asks how they leave the guild. somehow he had joined by accident (don't understand that...it's pretty much cut and dry if you want in or out, but whatever) and started getting frustrated at the lack of information on how to quit. i wondered how to leave the guild myself, but then got to thinking that maybe you can't leave.

so are my suspicions correct in thinking that once you're in a guild with a character, you're in for good? if they are, then they should have a warning that it's a permanent decision (and if there is...well i'm a hopeless player who dosen't read )

Ok, just when I thought I had done enough reading to understand it all, I've gone and gotten myself confused.... I haven't bought the game yet, so bear with my ignorance.

So... can you or can you not have ONE character that is both pve and pvp, or are the two playstyles segregated from one another? Theres something very unappealing to me about having to have multiple characters just so satiate both of those play-forms. The reason I ask is because I keep reading people mentioning starting a 'pvp character' vs. a 'pve character'.

Sorry if this is a redundant question, but I can't seem to find a straight answer anywhere else on the forum. (if someone has a link, that'd be great too). Thanks fellas.

1. How does a guild take place in PvP that matters for something? Were?

2.Fur Squares dont exist?

3.Can you get "Runes" at lvl 10? (From norm mobs you kill or quests?)

4.Do you get unlimited skill refund? 24/24 you get refund but it goes down, relog and back to 24/24.

5.Do all characters need to buy a guild cape or does leader buy then all guild members get them?

this is probably the worst question ever, but

How do you attain a second class?

futhermore, if i have my first class as elementalist, and i have second class as warrior, will i be able to equip warrior type armor and weaponns? or should i just re-make the character, as warrior first and elementalist second?

(or should i change elementalist for necro?)

You have 4 char slots. When you create a character you can choose to create an RP char or a PvP char. An RP char starts at level 1 and PvP starts at level 20. RP char can participate in PvP arenas, but PvP char cannot go to the PvE areas.

There 2 types of PvP chars: premade and custom. Premade chars have fixed skill set and you cannot change them. Custom char's skills can be changed, but you can only select skills that are unlocked by your RP char.

1. A guild can participate in GvG (Guild vs Guild). You can choose to fight a random guild, challenge a specific guild, or challenge a guild in an unranked battle.
2. No idea
3. You get runes by salvaging items and unlock them by using id kit. It is not tied to char level.
4. You accumulate refund points by gaining xp.
5. The guild leader buys one cape and all members automatically wear them.

On RP char you get your 2nd classes when you complete the secondary class quest in pre-searing ascalon.
You can only equip armors for your primary class.

You are confusing attribute points and skill points. "Attributes" primarily impact how effective skills tied to that attribute are. You gain 5 attribute points per level until level 15 (75 total), and 25 thereafter per level (125 total).

Skill points are used for learning/buying individual skills. When you buy a skill, it will cost gold and a skill point. Once you buy a skill, you are able to use it in your skill bar, which can contain 8 skills at any given time.

So, for example, if you have no points in the attribute "Wilderness Survival", the skill "Troll Ungent" will heal 3 pips per second. If you start to put attribute points in, it will start to gain pips. (FYI, each pip of de/regeneration for health is 2/hp per second. For energy, each pip is 1/3 energy per second.).

Hi I am very new to Guild Wars, me and a few friends tried getting on and playing together and for some reason we can only get 2 people in a party at a time. Why is that and how do I allow more people in my party? If you can help me out thanks a lot.

I don't have the game, but I'm considering buying it. And I'm just curious about a couple of aesthetic aspects of the game, and I'm sorry if someone answered this already. These aren't going to be the selling points for me or anything, I'm just curious.

How in depth is the character creation? Is it based on sliders, or do you just pick from a selection of heads? I've been playing EQ2 and even though their character creation uses sliders, it's rare to make a character that looks all that different from anyone else (I mean the actual facial structure, not hair colour and style), unless they're of a different race. Is this an issue in Guild Wars? Also, can you customize your body shape?

I know this is all going to come across as a little shallow, since I'm only asking about "looks" in the game, but I also wanted to know about the female armor. I'm a girl, and I always play a female character if possible in games. From the screenshots I've seen, all of the female armor seems very skimpy. I'm not concerned with other people wearing it, but are there other types of armor for female characters to wear that actually cover up and looks as though it would actually protect the body (as armor is intended to)? Sorry if this part seems a little long winded. It's just always been one of the things that irks me about the fantasy genre. Having to choose between being forced into skimpy armor or playing a male character. I roleplay from time to time, and just can't rp a male very well. Ok, I'm done rambling now!

As far as I know:
Party limit is set to 2 for the noob area
Once you leave Ascalon the 'way it is' when you enter the game you don't have that limit (eg when you enter the academy, set out to war)
As for skimpy armour, I believe I have seen some female chars with full length dress like things, and the ranger armour is fairly "protective" looking.
Cheers

My wife and I can't find it -- what is necessary for creating a guild cape? We've got the guild name, but when we check with the registrar we see that the cost appears to be 0 gold and 2 of some kind of ingots, which pretty much tells us nothing.

What's the answer?

Well, I am not head of any guild, but my guild leader said that you can get a cape if you raise 2000 gold. That should not be hard to do if you have a few members. All of us in our guild pitched in a raised the mula.

Best of luck to ya,

I quit World of Warcraft because its endgame content was unfriendly, almost hostile, to non-hardcore gamers.

How is GW's endgame PvE content? Is there anything interesting to do PvE-wise after you hit level 20? Are there large-scale "raid" encounters, as well as challenging missions for smaller parties?

Difficulty isn't what I'm worried about. Endgame content is supposed to be very challenging. But there's a difference between difficulty and accessibility. An epic endgame loot that requires 40 people to just reach, and relies on rolling the dice higher than everybody else on a 1% drop chance item has little to do with skill. PvP is great, I'm sure, but I also hope that there's a lot to sustain the player past level 20.

Hello players!

I've been looking at Guild Wars for about 24 hours now, and everything about it thrills me. I do, however, have one proviso: do those of us unlucky enough to still be stuck on a dial-up connection see a noticable lag in performance and playtime? After reading all the stuff about real time streaming and level downloading, this is a little disheartening. The site said that it didn't make a difference, but I wanted to get some feedback from some who have dial up and play.

Thanks!

ID kits can be used 25 times.
As for 56k, a friend of mine plays on it and no lag whatsoever.
New files get downloaded before you play so you may have to wait a bit longer while it is updating but there is no noticeable lag when you're in.

If you are talking about guild capes, then you don't need any material. Just enough gold to cover whatever cost it is (last count it was 2 platinum or 2000 gold).
