Stop picking on those who refuse to skip cutscenes

Fair enough.

The benefit gained by one member here normally surpasses the utility of the time lost by everyone else (except in the various running and MM situations). If people have to tell you that they want to watch cut scenes, you are going to kick them or leave which makes grouping even more annoying. |
The decision should be made on the basis of overall utility and the cost of waiting a minute in cases where you have seen the scene, for a new player who hasn't, is trivial compared to the them having to miss it and come back to redo the mission again just to see the scene (and having the possibility of getting stuck with another group that forces a skip...). Its like drivers who get mad at pedestrians for using the crosswalk when they want to make a turn, they're in a car and the extra few seconds is meaningless in their overall trip. When you played through the first time you probably got a chance to see everything, so let other new players have the chance.
If it was agreed to skip and you do not, well thats not cool, but neither is f'ing over the mission becuase someone didn't. I really can't believe anyone would do that and I don't understand why, other than the obvious fact that it must stem from unresolved inherant personal problems. Bottom line, its not hard to be a decent human being while playing this game. Give it a try.

Now I do plenty of nice things for people. I give free runs when I can. I give away items when I can and I help with missions I have probably already done at least a dozen times when I can. I have only a few things that really chap my proverbial buttocks and not skipping cutscenes is one of them.

Let me clarify this so I can save someone else looking like a jackass for trying to insult me. The only time I will bail is if I'm running with a guildie group and we pick someone up to fill in a slot or because we are feeling nice. They are told that we skip cutscenes. If they do not they get bailed on. If they lead us to believe that they will skip and then do not then they get bailed on after they get all the available aggro in the area pulled on them. If they don't like those terms they can find another group. It's as simple as that. No one forces anyone to team up. If someone doesn't like the terms of running with me and my group then they can go find another and not have to worry about skipped cutscenes. If they try to use us to get through and don't abide by the rules of the group well there are consequences to that.

Second: It was said that "If you agree to skip and then don't skip I'll not only ditch you but I'll run as much aggro as humanly possible back on you before I do." My comment was basically intended to say that its childish to do that, and I stand by this. As such, this is not simply a personal attack intended to hide the fact that I have a weak position but rather it was simply general comment about what I think of anyone that acts in this way. In fact, this has very little to do with my position. My main point was just that in general there should be no expectation that cutscenes will be jumped. I agree that if it was agreed upon to skip, then not skipping is bad. But I don't think a fair response is f'ing over the mission by causing as much aggro as possible. Is it really even in your interest timewise to do that? If you wanted to skip the scenes for the purpose of saving time then would dropping and starting over or taking the time to f up the rest of the mission really further that goal? I doubt it.
I don't doubt that you have done some nice things for people in the game, thats good. I also know that not skipping cut scenes WHEN IT IS EXPLICTLY AGREED TO BY EVERYONE is annoying. But it should not be a general rule that one skips, and if someone doesn't it doesn't seem like a good idea to act like you suggested.

Hey, I'm just saying if you want to play psychology 101 with someone you should at least spell correctly. Time is only a consideration initially. After my time has been wasted on a cutscene it becomes a matter of principle. So, Dr. Freud, the next time you want to speculate on someone's inherent personality problems keep it to yourself. You can defend it however you like, the fact remains that it was a personal attack that was launched in a backhanded manner. There is no point in calling me out for pointing out your spelling error since you crossed the line first. It's like punching me in the nose and then trying to press charges when I beat you senseless. The fact remains that there are consequences to be dealt with if you violate rules, no matter who sets them, and if I have to do a mission over to dole out those consequences then so be it. If you don't like it too bad. There's nothing you can do about it besides cry and call me childish and try to psychoanalyze me. Love me or hate me but don't try to insult me.

I'm not playing psychology 101 here...I wouldn't say pointing out a spelling error in my post as being equivalent to "beating me senseless". In fact its not even important because it has nothing to do with the content of what I had said. I'm not crying about your actions and in the end you certainly can go and act on whatever misguided principles you want. But you should also be able to deal with the consequences, such as being called a child when you act like one.
I'm done posting on this but feel free to have the last word.
