I know the UK figures for Factions worked out at, 48,000(ish) 'normal' copies, and about 3,400(ish) Collectors Editions (@ 1.25kg per unit, they are heavy, cos a case is 22 units

Yes, they were delayed (UK release date for CE is 05/05/06), the entire UK delivery has now been dispatched to the various suppliers.

You specify which you pre-order, you do this in the store so they know what to hold for you anyway.

Actually they weren't all delayed. I got mine on 28th of April. The release date was never changed for retailers, they simply received hideously limited stock. Working in a store helps secure you one of the few that turns up though

The reason your store didn't get them till the 28th, was because they didn't arrive @ the distributor until the 27th, and got dispatched by same day to the other suppliers. Normally stock for a new release is @ the distributor's about a week before release, not the day before.

I was just calling around to stores in my area and some of the store personnel were telling me that, as of last Friday, they were told that the inventory to arrive by this Friday will not arrive for another week or two after that.

Agh! While some stores still gave me a 5/5 date, wish we could get an official update on the status. I enjoyed Factions over the weekend and hate the thought of an extended wait.

As of 6:55 on 5/1/06...

I'm still showing inventory for CE at Best Buy at 0/0/0.

Florida is dry, as are any number of randomly searched territories. It's still a safe guess that every store in the US is out.

hehe. We got Factions normal on Tuesday, most new releases come in on Wednesdays, get the odd ones on Thursdays and then rarely on Friday we get some (which is when CE came in) coz as you say, it was delayed. But it was still on time for the official release, which was my point to you before, the UK release date was never changed back to this friday (otherwise I'd be looking at a fine right now... *looks worried*)

anyhoo I've also heard from a lot of different places that 5/5 is the next batch, but I think I'd trust guildwars.com more than random people... not that I wouldn't advise you all rush in on Friday and see if they got any more in stock...

Any Best Buy updates? I just checked with mine and they still list getting 0 on the 5th. So I'm currently making arrangements to pick it up elsewhere on Friday. I'll just have to take a loss on the $10 Pre-Order Kit purchased at BB.

That's my ordeal as well. I'm probably going to buy Factions for my second account and just use up my $10 Pre-Order disc deal at BB and then wait to get a CE for my regular account that has the Pre-Order disc on it and the CE from Prophecies. Obsessive compulsive or die hard ? I don't know which one I am, but I'm probably OCD.

I've been calling around town (South Texas) because I've been holding out as well. From what they are telling me they are going down the pre-order list and still will not be able to fill them. I did the pre-order from Best Buy, which unfortunately doesn't mean anything except I get 10 dollars off when/if they come in. The guy in charge of the games dept there told me not to hold my breath (he doesn't even pre-order from Best Buy he told me). With that knowledge, it looks like it will be June 30 before it's widely available on the shelves.

Just be sure not to open it. BB wont take opened media for a return unless it is defective.

Wait, so A-Net is not going to extend the 10 day pre-order even if you don't get a copy after 5/5/06? That mean those who don't have either CE or SE won't be able to use their characters after it?

Since the announcement I've been under the impression you could play til 2nd may, and chars would be saved but unplayable til 8th may. Then you either have to put a Factions key in or lose those slots.

The 10 day grace period is for the two extra slots. You can use the slots to create Tyria characters if you don't have a retail key of Factions. After the 10 day grace period, the two new slots will be locked, but you can still activate them with a Factions retail key. Your characters won't be deleted after the 10 day period, you just can't use the two extra slots. That's based on what Gaile said a few days ago.

First, this post is mostly for venting, so if you don't like complaints, stop reading here.

I think I must have ordered CE from what's probably the worst store in history. Not only did I not get any kind of information regarding the postponed release of the CE, but I'm still waiting for it aswell, even though I know for a fact they got them in yesterday. The reason I haven't gotten it yet, and that it isn't even sent yet (they have online package status thingy), is cause they decided it'd be a good idea to fill up their stores before sending it to anyone who'd ordered it. So while I wait for their webshop to get it in stock, I see the amount in stock in their "real" shop decrease from 20+ to 8. Webshop has none in stock, and their supplier has none either. The only ones they have are those in the "real" shop that are decreasing fast.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but I thought pre-orders were so you would get it the day of the release, not AFTER everybody who goes to the store to buy it. And I also thought that people who pre-ordered in february would have higher priority of getting it than people who didn't pre-order at all. Guess I was wrong in both cases. The also state on their product-page that "it's no problem it's delayed since we can play til 7th before entering that real key". Newsflash: We can't! And we won't get it before 7th anyway since it's "out of stock" at both supplier and webshop, before the webshop even got it on stock.

To add up to all this, I forgot all my money on my assassin (whom I can't play currently) since I was too busy working this monday, and didn't have time to log on. Day after, assassin locked, and money still on it. My whole guild is playing, except me and one other who is also waiting for the CE (at the same retailer I might add).

To make a long complain short: Whoever handles the distributions at that shop needs to get fired. I'm sure there's some plumber somewhere who needs an assistant to do all his dirt-work, so he wouldn't be totally out of a job.

For anyone that doesn't know, I work at Best Buy. I've been checking my inventory constantly.

My store shows 4 copies of CE 'inbound allocated' which means...

It's not at the store. It's not on its way to the store. It, however, is somewhere and that's better than nowhere

I expect it very soon! Hooray!

this is why you don't pre-order anything. they're selling to people who walk in to get their money NOW... they already have your money, so where's the pressure to service you? there isn't any.

moral of the story: have patience, grasshopper. you don't need to pre-order, and really, the only people that pre-ordering helps are companies to fill their "first day sales" quotas.

thats good news. Too bad I already bought the standard edition. Plus the more I thought about it I just didn't think the extra money was worth paying for what you actually get. Just my opinion. I know many who can't wait til they get the CE and thats cool if they think its worth it
