i live out in the middle of no where EB games is the closest thing resembling a store its an hour away to buy a game from i preorder it on feb 27th paid in full i get a phone call the friday saying my factions will be held for 48 hours then given away i go there the friday factions is realized eveidently there were 4 pre orders i was the only 1 that paid in full they got 3 copies of the game they will be getting another shipment of them in about a month or so it is comple BS so im gonna have to buy it from a friend next week when he gets in because he doesn't want it anymore i can't believe they would give someones copy away any it cost me 20 bucks in gas to get there and back for some BS because they can't pull there head out of there ass and realize they should of saved me a copy

I have to tell you, man, I must be the only person on these forums that has always had an extremely fantastic experience with Gamestop. I pre-order nearly everything online, and have never, ever run into any major problems, barring this CE delay.
Back when I received Prophecies, I couldn't quite read the serial # on the CD case (I'm blind like that, whee), so I called Gamestop.com's Customer Support. Instead of trying to help me figure out the serial #, the woman just gave me a different code. I plugged it in and voila, happy happy joy joy. Insanely amazing customer service there.
When I pre-ordered Factions CE, it was before the Bonus CD was offered, so I wasn't sure if the Factions CE package would come with it. I call up Gamestop.com CS, and again, they're extremely helpful. The guy gives me his name, contact information, etc., and says if I don't see the Bonus CD portion added to my CE order information in a few days, call back and ask for him. He was positive the Bonus CD was going to be added. And sure enough, it was added. ^_^
For non-GW games, it was always a breeze to alter orders, inquire about backordered games, etc. When I wanted to cancel a pre-order, I just emailed CS or called and within a minute or two, I was satisfied.
Regarding dates to receive Factions...I highly, highly, highly recommend you consider ordering online. My CE is scheduled to arrive later today. I have its tracking number, so I can keep check of where it is. It's currently in Philadelphia, though it'll probably be in New Jersey within a few hours, like usual. Gamestop information emailed me to tell me my order will ship this past Thursday or Friday, and sure enough, it shipped this past Thursday or Friday. 2-Day Air delivery gets it here on Monday.
Go online. You'll never look back, seriously. ^_^
EDIT: *just checked order tracking* Correction. It's in Jersey right now. It'll probably be at my house within 12 hours. You know it's a solid system when I can predict the time of delivery, give or take an hour. lol

And it's not easy to just "order online" once you've already paid for the game in the store... I'm pretty sure they won't give me my $75 back since I got the pre-order items.

All of us at the studio are still waiting for our copies. The shipping info we had on the site last week was accurate, so I'm not sure why there are these here-and-there delays. Hopefully the new week will bring many deliveries and in-store pickups!

I have no complaints with GameStop. I got free overnight shipping from Gamestop.com on my CE and I recieved it on May 5th. They even gave me a free GuildWars t-shirt too, I thought it was in-store only and in very limited supply. Free overnight shipping > in-store because there are too many things that happen in between from NCSoft sending it to the GameStop/EB warehouse and then GameStop/EB sending it to their individual stores. I got it sent right to my house from the warehouse.

i completely forgot to mention why i hate their Customer Service also. The day the CE is announced as available for Pre-order, i went into a local Gamestop store to inquire about changing my regular Factions Pre-Order to the CE Pre-order. With that i also ask ( and expect ) about the delays in being able to start playing GW: Factions, again. I am then told that i can call a certain number (Gamestop CS) in order to attain a code to lengthen my Pre-Order play period so that i can play till my official CE arrives. Great! I think i am free to play till then. I call the number, wait 10 minutes till i finally get someone to help me. At which point the woman acts like she has no clue what im talking about when i ask for the Guild Wars: Factions Pre-Order extension key. I had gone in great detail to explain what it was supposed to be and what i was told at the Gamestop store. She says she will go look for a this "code" and puts me on hold. I wait for another 10 minutes at which point i realize i am suddenly listening to a dial tone!! The ignoramous on the other end had hung up on me!! @#$%#!!! Ok, i calm down and call again. Wait another 10 minutes to talk to a representative and explain again in great detail what i am requesting. Without hesitation, the man tells me that NCSoft had changed their minds about releasing the extension code to CE purchasers, and that he could not help me!!
Great, i spent nearly an hour on the phone to find i couldnt get anything, couldnt get a play extension, and that NCSoft in fact HAD originially planned to release an extension code, then changed their minds!! Ring-around-the-Rosy with the Gamestop Customer Service left me flabergasted at the fact that they hadnt been fully informed, at least very few knew about such a development. 1 out of the 10 Gamestop employees i talked to (including in-store and customer service) knew about this detail.
Talk about an ill-imformed retailer. They have no business announcing nationwide release dates, it should have been announced as per regional updates/announcements.
NCSoft no doubt chose to do this to try and net as much profit as possible on the regular editions before releasing the CE. Therefore the majoirty already buying the regular edition might realize they want the extras also, now go off and buy a CE netting NCSoft profits 2x to 10x what an early CE release may have gotten them. Fine, whatever, this is their perrogative.
However, Gamestop royally pissed me off because of their constant false promises, constant delays, misinformation, lack of internal information, and lack of customer service knowledge or help...
I can see that no one so far has posted positive information regarding Gamestop and GW:Factions CE. Not surprising. Fate, it seems you and me are of the numerous victims of bad Gamespot locals. Meaning somehow our Gamestop/EB locations have failed to keep up with other store locations in this nation. Why? Like i been sayin, this company cant pass on vital information as if they dont know what email, phone, fax, mail, telegram, skywriting, or any other sort of obscure communication methods there are, are used for.
I wish we had grounds for lawfully sueing them!! LOL!! Ah, only in America, im sure a creative lawyer could figure that one out. (only kidding, i hate ppl who randomly sue others)

I went in last night and my local Gamestop only had 1 CE come in. Which had already gone out to the only other person who had preordered it (at that store). I didn't know about the new pet at the time, so I went ahead and bought the normal version. Oh well, I should be getting my b-day pets, in the coming months...

It means that those two extra character slots are closed. If you had characters there, they are still there, but I don't think you can play them. Nothing will be deleted.

Not sure if this goes on the up-side or the down-side. I reserved a copy of the CE at my local GameStop and was told right up until the 28th that it would be in, called by the auto-call service, and told by store personel. I went there on the 28th, after having been told the previous day they had them and found they hadn't gotten them. When I asked the manager he said "The Company" refering to NCSoft, screwed up. I inquired as to what he ment by that, when from what I had been told by in-store personel it (the CE)was there, and he started repeating something about having ?market-share?, not sure what that ment. After that everything I said about the CE was wrong, and everything he said was 100% right(he's quite pushy). Only my friend calling me to say the movie was over kept the argument from going any further. At this point I decided I'm not shopping there anymore.
Then on the 4th I got a call from the auto-call service saying my CE would be in, and about 30 minutes after I got a call from the manager saying that the store got, "Only one copy", and they were holding it for me. Well, I went in and got it, then when I stopped at Best Buy they had about 6 CE's just sitting there.
I think I'll just stick to ordering items online from now on, don't have, nor want, to deal with that manager again.

I'm in the same boat as Bowman Artemis. I personally have no problems with my local EB store and they way they dealt with faction's, my pre-order or the whole CE issue.
I pre-ordered fine and was told that there was a pre-order box by the person serving me without me having to ask. Unfortunately they didn't have any in stock but their other store still some in stock so they put aside a copy for me there. No drama's yet. I get a call from them on the 27th informing me there had been a delay in the shipment of the CE's and they were expecting to get them on the 5th ... bah! But hey, they did call and notify me... so I wait and get a call early on the 5th to tell me my CE had come in and they would hold it for me till i could get in.
Not to rub it into anyone's faces.. but it seems some stores/branch's/region's have worse service than other's. I've never had any problems with my local EB store.. they have always gone out of their way to provide good customer service - and no, I don't know them and nor do I pay them bribes

The internet is a fabulous tool. People should learn how to use it before they go footing it around to pre-order in-person. I'm not trying to sound like a dick here, but you know...by ordering/pre-ordering online, you rarely run into the "Yeah, we've got three in-stock now, and our next shipment is coming in a few days" crap.
Doing online transactions from the get-go is the way to go.

I cancelled my online pre-order from Best Buy when I found out they weren't actually going to ship the pre-order, just the regular game. Then my wife found two Factions pre-orders at a Gamestop in town and bought both, and we asked for the CE. I called GS several times last week, was told CE would be in the 4th or the 5th. It didn't arrive the 4th. On the 5th I was told it would be in, but they store hadn't received it's shipment from UPS. I stopped by after work...supposedly the UPS shipment never came. I was there Saturday the 6th...CE still had not arrived, they said they'd call when it did. It's Monday the 8th, I hope to hear from them today, but so far, still no word on the CE. The store manager did tell me Saturday that if I find the CE anywhere else they won't hold me to buying it from Gamestop, at least. Checked around a bit, and I couldn't find any other stores that have the CE either.
All in all, I don't blame Gamestop - they were told the CE would be shipped on the 4th and arrive on the 4th or the 5th, and it didn't happen. Regardless of where the direct fault lies (whether it's shipper, supplier, distributor, which ever link in the chain is broken), it's ultimately Anet's responsibility to supply accurate information regarding shipping dates and supplies, and ultimately Anet is to blame for this whole fiasco IMHO.
P.S. I'm also p.o.'d @ Anet b/c the grace period did not work on our two accounts that have Prophecies (full game) + Factions pre-order keys - neither account has been able to access any Factions characters or content since Sunday, April 30th, despite the supposed 10-day grace period.

they have no other choice than to announce what NCSoft tells them as to when it will be out.

Meaning, again, this company is ill-informed and does not pass on information, internally, very well.

We here in the Meep household feel your pain as well but not to its fullest. EBGames said it would have ours on the 5th - then they said the shipment was delayed but would be there Saturday... Saturday - Shipment hasn't arrived and it won't be here till Monday....
So Redly called around and Best Buy who at the beggining when we wanted to preorder said they would NEVER have it!
They had it and enough copies for my husband, my brother got two, and one for myself!
Weird how the stores that claimed they would never have it, had more than enough >_< But they were in the back so you actually have to ask for them!

We got all of our money back on it - the preorder is meant as a reserve and the $5-$10 you spend on the preorder is supposed to be taken off your CE edition when it comes in. That preorder just assures them that you really do want that and they aren't holding something that they will have to make a dirrect sell from their shelf.
When we went to get our money back, we got it ALL including the $5 for each CE Pre order... A lot of places are still selling the preorder seperate from the whole thing.... I saw it at Best Buy for $10 and was like wtf!?!?

p.s. I preordered mine in March, so it's not like I walked in and magically found a CE. There was only one CE, the one I preordered, and I called ahead to make sure they held on to it till I got there.

Before you respond to this thread, it is not about ArenaNET nor NCSoft hating different countries, etc. Please only post constructive comments.
Like many others I preordered the CE from my local EB in the US. SE Michigan to be exact. The delays happened and none of the stores in my area received any stock on 5/5. I was lucky in finding a Best Buy that had two copies out on the shelves on 5/6. I purchased one and left the other for some other lucky soul to find.
Here is where the conspiracy starts. The CE's contents were all for the UK's CE. The copy was purchased at a Best Buy in the US. The box has the normal T(een) ESRP and a US product code of GWP-US-EN-XXX.
In the box everything has a UK rating of 12+, the mini-DVD case has a GWP-UK-EN-XXX product code, and a listing of EU.GuildWars.com URL on the back of the case. The actual game disks have are copywritten for NCSoft Europe.
The game installed without issue, and the key worked; however, I don't see what people mean when they talk about a cloth ritialist nor the collectable activation card. I have a clothy sticker for an assassian and the activation code was printed on the same paper you had to rip the edges off of just like the SE.
Has anyone else gotten there CE in America in received something like this? It was odd to me that the US didn't receive any CEs on 4/28, and the UK version was released in limited numbers. I could be completely wrong here but it looks like no US ones were created (at least least in my limited sample group of one copy) and that some UK CEs were repackaged and released in the US.
Like many others I preordered the CE from my local EB in the US. SE Michigan to be exact. The delays happened and none of the stores in my area received any stock on 5/5. I was lucky in finding a Best Buy that had two copies out on the shelves on 5/6. I purchased one and left the other for some other lucky soul to find.
Here is where the conspiracy starts. The CE's contents were all for the UK's CE. The copy was purchased at a Best Buy in the US. The box has the normal T(een) ESRP and a US product code of GWP-US-EN-XXX.
In the box everything has a UK rating of 12+, the mini-DVD case has a GWP-UK-EN-XXX product code, and a listing of EU.GuildWars.com URL on the back of the case. The actual game disks have are copywritten for NCSoft Europe.
The game installed without issue, and the key worked; however, I don't see what people mean when they talk about a cloth ritialist nor the collectable activation card. I have a clothy sticker for an assassian and the activation code was printed on the same paper you had to rip the edges off of just like the SE.
Has anyone else gotten there CE in America in received something like this? It was odd to me that the US didn't receive any CEs on 4/28, and the UK version was released in limited numbers. I could be completely wrong here but it looks like no US ones were created (at least least in my limited sample group of one copy) and that some UK CEs were repackaged and released in the US.

I spole with EB today, They're now saying at the earliest, it'll be tomorow, but more likely, it wont be until the end of the week or sometime next week. Sighs

Well guys im in the same crap-ass boat as most of you. Here's my story:
First, I pre-order the CE from my local EBgames at my mall on April 7th. This was about the earliest I could have preordered as the CE wasn't even in their systems until about 2 days earlier (I live in Canada).
Anyways, the Monday before factions is released, I call them up because I heard about CE being delayed all over, what do they say?
"Oh, we don't know anything about that. We're not showing any delays."
So I think, awesome, I'm gonna get mine on time...stupid me.
I call them Friday morning - the day of the release. They say,
"We don't have the CE in...We should have it in a week (next friday)". Angry...I was debating whether to scrap the CE and just get the regular version which was $10 off + a T-Shirt...I didn't know about the dragon at the time. But, I kept true and decided to wait for the CE...what's another week right?
Well...on wednesday of next week I call them again...
Eb:"Oh we're not getting it in on Friday...we have a _CONFIRMED_ date for Monday the 8th"
Pissed off yet again, I said fine...I can wait until Monday.
Today I called them...they say:
"I don't know what happened but we don't have them in. I think we might get them tomorrow. I'm sorry blah blah blah"
So now I'm REALLY F(@*%(@%*@(% pissed off. I've been lied to not once, not twice, but THREE times in a row. And how much you want to bet that when I call them tomorrow, they won't have it in.
I'm starting to think the mini dragon pet isn't worth this aggravation.
But here's what I'm doing:
1) Never buying from EBgames again...ever.
2) Never buying anymore CE from Anet/NCsoft. As much as I like you guys, and want to support your games, you really let me down. This is NOT the treatment that people who are shelling out the most money and preordered WEEKS or MONTHS in advance should be getting.
I hear stories of people walking into stores and buying them off the shelves and I feel like punching something. It's so easy for them to get one but so incredibly hard for me. Getting fissure armor in 6 days was easier than getting a CE of factions, and I'm dead serious.
EDIT: and all these people who have the CE seem to have a literacy problem like "OMG I GOT THE CE BUT I HAVE NO DRAGON PET! WTF!!!!1112@!$!$" Another thing to add to the pile of rage :P

I'm getting teh same response from EB. Mark (Chinook Store In calgary) mentioned at earliest, it'll be tomorrow, but chances are it was going to be the end of the week or Next week. I've gone to teh PlayNC Suport and submited a ticket:

I was in my local EB Games on Saturday and while chatting with one of the guys, asked if they'd received any CE's. I was curious, given all the problems. He said they'd received a couple that quickly sold. So some did make it to Canada (Toronto), though it sounds like the quantity was small, at this store at least.
