Head Start Event: Day of the Tengu
Join us for the Guild Wars Factions Head Start Event, and participate in the exciting Day of the Tengu celebration!
As you know, the Head Start allows access to the lands of Cantha a full 24 hours before the game’s global release. During those hours, Cantha is hosting a special event—Day of the Tengu—where players celebrate the first anniversary of peace since the cessation of the Tengu Wars. But all is not peace and harmony even now, for the day’s events are threatened by a return of the vile Naga.
In Cantha, you are invited to complete a series of quests in honor of the Tengu, quests that also aid in the effort to beat back the erstwhile invading forces. If you are successful, you will earn Naga Fangs, which you can exchange for unique rewards! At periodic intervals throughout the course of the day's event, be sure that you visit Shing Jea Monastery, where you will find that, if you have a sufficient number of Naga Fangs, the fangs will be converted into wearable Tengu Masks. These coveted items—customized just for you—will be unique across all Guild Wars campaigns!
For the Day of the Tengu, you will want to know the way to the Shing Jea Monastery. Players using the Guild Wars Factions Preorder key for the Head Start may travel to Shing Jea Monastery and talk to the Master of Celebration to take part in the special Day of the Tengu event. Native Canthan characters will find their way to the monastery very quickly. Characters coming from Tyria will need to take the following steps:
In order to travel to Cantha for the first time, a Prophecies character must take the Mhenlo's Request quest from Firstwatch Sergio in Lion's Arch. Following the quest steps will unlock ship travel to Cantha for that character. Your account must have an active Guild Wars Factions or Guild Wars Factions Preorder key in order to travel to Cantha.
Once in Cantha, travel south through the Marketplace to Kaineng Docks.
Speak to First Mate Xiang, who will transport you to Seitung Harbor.
Travel west through Saoshang Trail and Linnok Courtyard to reach Shing Jea Monastery.
The Head Start Event and the Day of the Tengu quest series are available only to pre-order customers of Guild Wars Factions. Want to get in on the action? Check with your local retailer, or pre-order Guild Wars Factions online and obtain an access key in time to participate in the event.

awwwwww not fair. I ordered online and only get the preorder kit when they ship the game. I propose that you should have the ability to do these quests if you have the preorder key on your account.

The pre orde key alows you to play the game early, it lets you play from the 27-28 without having the actual game key, after that you are locked out of factions untill you enter the factions key
jmj102
No you dont know how to read. I wont get the preorder key untill they ship the retaill key. So I'll only get anything to do with factions untill a day after the headstart or more cause I have to deal with international shipping. But yeah, looks like theres nothing I can do, aw well.
Sidra
Man... I won't be able to get one of each for these. I suppose I'll have to settle with one for my monk, ranger, and assassin instead of all + mesmer.

Sidra

themickman

jmj102
I was trying to make myself feel better.
TheMosesPHD
It's just too bad though that I won't be able to get the tengu mask for all of my characters since I'll only have 4 slots available during the head start
Tru Master D
I really hope that our prophecies characters will have access to this event...Anyway if not i still got an extra slot to create my ritualist and get the mask. I just hope that no evil schoolwork will interfere with this
Jas D
Weeee I want a mask. <|:]

Marketing ploy. I despise Tengu so no thanks...

Here's a bit of information:
Those of you who were disappointed to learn that you could not pre-order Factions might try calling your retailers again. Some have gotten a few more of the boxes in stock. More importantly, today we sealed the deal for retailers to offer Factions Pre-order keys through their online stores. (See links on the Day of the Tengu page.)
These are new keys, brand new today. So if they didn't have them, or couldn't give them, they can now. I just followed a link and found stores offering other goodies, too!
Hope to see you at Day of the Tengu!

I ordered the preorder kit with the collectors edition at gamestop ages ago. I checked my order a bit ago and it seems that the ce will ship but the preorder kit is back ordered. However now I can no longer even bring up my order for some reason. (This is for international shipping) So gaile, seems like something went wrong with your deal with Gamestop >.<
Zehnchu
Just read that, can't wait....

jmj102, would it be possible to go to a GameStop in your area instead of just waiting for the online delivery? Maybe you could get that preorder key if you go to a store and explain what's up.
When I preordered at the store, the GameStop employee just handed me that package without saying a word. I didn't even know what it was until I opened it. And, in my experience, the GameStop people are pretty cool about fixing problems, so there could be a chance.

This is cool yet sucks at the same time, you can't expect everyone to pre-order the game. What about those who didn't pre-order(me,lol) and want a mask?
Just seems a bit of a kick in the shin to those who didn't pre-order,as if they're rubbing it in our face.

Ok i'm sorry but this needs to be posted... and yes i know nothing's probably going to be done about the issues at hand.
But on behave of a lot of loyal GuildWars players I say to Anet:
People have been having A LOT of trouble with the pre-order, it's no secert.
Many of us were told by our local retailers that they would not be getting the pre-order boxes, hence no head start keys. But that we could put money down for the game still.
So we did, ages ago. Giving in to the fact we were out of luck. (which i still concider a slap in the face)
Now with this new 'Head Start Event' announced, you have to shake your head. TY but sorry Gail, you tell us to check the web sites of our retailers and that they have keys avalible... with an order of the game. So what happens to those who can't order online, or have put money down at their local gaming shop for the game and still don't have keys. Those that are truely disappionted with the whole ordeal are those that have been playing the longest, and can't seem to get a break.
If that first bit was a slap in the face, I think they'd concider this event the backhand that follows afterwards...
It should be called "Day of the Fortunate Ones"
