Guild Wars Chapter III Info + Concept Art
Ka El Windstorm
Alex, I'm sure you won't be able to answer me so directly, but I'm curious, if we can expect a new character class or two? I don't remember if your team had said there would be new classes with each game that is released. If you aren't able to, which I'm sure you aren't. That is quite all right. I suppose
x-todd
maybe we will be able to choose new races in ch 3.
Sir Skullcrasher
Please tell me they did NOT start working on Chapter 3 when there is tons of bugs and fixes that needed to be done! What is going to be in Chapter 3 this time, load up all bosses with greens once again like in Factions. Won't introduce new areas for us to explore later on in the game? Storyline that don't make sense? Once again, characters that don't move their mouth when talking?

Personally, I would be really happy if they work on delivering a very solid, immersive PvE campaign in place of new professions.

well i for one am glad to hear they have 2 teams...
(provided they dont act like kurzic and luxons in the office and keep verbally slapping eachother lol)
so no more whines of {no, you cant ask for PvE content in RPG style, we dont want to take any people away from out PvP only content, now do we} answeres and excuses when we ask/sugest them in sardelack...
as to an african(as in the contenent) theme.....hm....spear wielding Zulu-type tribesfolk warrior characters and......belly-dancer style femmfetal style caster class type i would say....personaly, i prefer the egyptian (ancient) style...lots of gold, cotton pleated clothes, *and for once, those balding, shaved headed Monks will fit in^^ with their warrior-locks hairdoos* and i mean, c'mon..theres about 3 hairs and one set of armour that the rit girls wear that, assuming you set the head dress to not-show, it just screams egyptian ^^

- Escaping from getting pwned in Ascalon by the Charr
- Crazy Ascalon king is well...crazy so we bounce
- Get to Kryta to find a home for the refugees; have to kiss White Mantle armor to let us in
- Find out White Mantle is The Devil(tm) and they'll probably start sucking the soul out of Ascalonians if we don't do something
- Turns out killing people and sucking their souls is a bit of downer so we help the Shining Blade out against the White Mantle
- Just sorta made the White Mantle mad so we decide we're going to become demi-gods and kick some butt
- Becoming a demi-god was fun so we decide a dragon would be something to do before breakfast
- End up helping the dwarves since they "helped" us escape to Kryta
- Find out we don't like how the Mursaat roll and we take off after them
I dunno, the story in Chapter 1 sounds pretty good to me.

I'm curious as to how future expansions will deal with expansion-specific classes. Will there be support for ritualists and assassins in new chapters (e.g. new skills and new armor styles)? Or does that end for them at Cantha, and they can only travel there and do the new campaign, while core classes get more stuff?
It makes perfect sense to not be able to start a new assassin or ritualist in a new campaign even if you have Factions, but I'm hoping there will at least be some new things for them.

If that's the case then ANet has my condolences. The problems in Ch.2 will drive away a significant portion of your fan base (customers) before you ever release Ch.3 in November. Those people are gone for good too. In other words, you're loosing market share right now and you need to fix it now, not tell people to pay another $50 for the fix.
If I misunderstood you then you have my apologies and can happily ignore the previous statements.

OKay so maybe fixing wasn't the correct word to use. How about Smoothing our the wrinkles?

seriously though, if Alex is still reading this thread, address the Elite Mission issue. I know I don't have to explain it because there are about 20 threads all saying the same thing.
Ok I'll explain it: it sucks that these are only open to the most elite of PVP guild alliances and faction farmers, and closed off to us PVE'rs who simply want access to PVE content. FoW/UW access is fair, this is clearly not.
and while I'm at it, stop sending Gaile to absorb the abuse about the storage issue. It's not fair to her to have to spin off half-hearted promises that she has no control over, when it's your issue to fix.

It's like they took the complaints about access to realms of the gods being too exclusive, and favor being only being affected by PvP and said, "well, here, in this one PvE players have a method for competing alongside PvP! Everyone is happy now!" when they should have been making a non-exclusive system for endgame missions.
I don't understand what the team's obsession is with making PvE missions a reward for competetive play. There are so many other things that could be a reward for that, I think choosing for it to be a mission is a bad idea.
I really hope this isn't a trend that will continue into the next chapter.
Deepjay
I just hope that whatever they do for chapter 3, the voice acting is better than factions - factions mission voice acting is *appalling*
Blacktemplar
Juicy! I want some more info on chapter 3 asap . Factions provides more variety from those ancient tyrian missions! yawn. Dividing the users into joining a specific alliance brings more energy into the game. I wish people would spend more time enjoying the essence of this game besides sitting at dis 1 la or kening centre selling eye candy weapons. Gj anet in bring greens weapons in the game and lowering 15^50 weapons! If chapter 3 would be located in the mid-east, with pyramids and deserts that would be excellent. Hmm but d2 had a mid-eastern vibe as well. Oh well upgraded d2 ftw.

Voodoo Magic:
---
Elite Hex/Item Spell: Voodoo Doll
Target foe is hexed with Voodoo Doll, while you carry Voodoo Doll you move 33% faster, when you drop Voodoo Doll, that foe is knocked down and suffers 10..90 damage.

I just did the first Kurzick mission this morning, where you clear out the cathedral and get the urn. Danika's voice acting is.....really sad. She's like....oh my gawd! And then, like......
Definitely a step backwards. If the voice acting had half the talent of the renderers/designers, noone would mind.
MasterDinadan
Oh geez... Danika sounds like a gossiping teenager...
Edit: Sorry, that should say pre-teen. I think the moment I first heard her voice was the moment that I started making peace with the fact that my alliance decided to join Luxons.

Yes I know the order is different. Whoopee.
So yeah. Halfway through I was wondering if the real, REAL, no really this is really is the main villain, guy would be the Emperor or something. "Haha you killed Shiro, so I can now become an Envoy/God/the Muffin Man and rule the world!, etc, etc".

It's not really a major complaint of mine, but it would be nice to get some better acting.
Lexar
The point is that it feels the same and all the little story details and game mechanics detail don't matter. It feels too much like a new skin and nothing that has been really changed underneath. You still go from one huuuuge mob to the next with frustrating henchmen. You still have to stare at fast scrolling lines to actually sell or buy items and not get screwed over, in some areas movement still feels clunky and like you bump into invisible walls (click on an npc in house zu helzer to walk to it), it just feels the same. The artwork is great, really great, but to a lot of people it feels like the same deal all over again despite this.
As for chapter 3, to me personally the northern african style appeals a lot more than the asian style they were going for, although this doesnt start a tradition that every chapter is going to pseudo represent a continent or cultural influence in our world, because that'll end up being kinda corny, and let's face it, that worked well in terranigma but not in a game like this. More GW themes and less our world. Work on those people in the desert that didn't make it, or go in-depth into the houses in the jungle.
The concept art reminds me of a siege town in crusader times, a mixture of christian and european architecture and muslim influences, like the hagia sofia in istanbul for example, or perhaps like a skyline of jeruzalem. That looks like a city I wouldn't mind spending 30% of the game in ^^

Exactly what I was thinking. I think maybe I will only be buying the odd chapters of GW. 1,3,5, etc.

I loved prophecies and im liking factions but one thing I thought would be totaly kick ass would be to make the Char a playable race, you get the other half of the story plus it would make for some awsome VS missions, were the human and the char players have a set of goals each going agianst each other. I think that would just be awsome!

wait a minute, what?! Chapter 3's coming out already? and Chapter 4's in development?! holy crap, i haven't even finished Factions yet!
haha.
anyway, that huge floating mosque-like structure looks interesting. but i hope that they mix up the PvE gameplay a little bit more. slogging through the 1039218731927398127389127398159762817698765th mob of monsters with 60% DP isn't fun anymore. hell, it wasn't fun to start with. if they can somehow make PvE less linear than "kill monsters A, B, and C and then kill monster Z while slogging through his minions the entire time", then i'd be very, very happy.
and about the voice acting, don't dwarves usually have Scottish or Irish accents? their weird accents kinda made me cringe in Prophecies, but not as much as the voices that are used for your character in Factions. i don't normally turn off the speakers when i play a video game, but this was pushing it.

PR is going to take all of the good feedback and treat it like its the only feedback until the bug creators can(atleast try to) fix their mistakes. And because "We can stream an update at anytime" they aren't in any kind of rush to do so.
Speaking of bugs, the Canthan henches are getting on my last nerve. ITs the first time I'll admit that they are actually worse than the average PUG(alesia I miss you baby).
