[Petition] Remove faction reward for the losing side in Aspenwood

I disagree. Because my first character was ele, random composition is what I like about this game. I dont want to spend hour tryin to get into group and getting along with some wammo, who tellin me how to do stuff and then get murdered on second minute. That is why I never made my way to Tombs (and HA later) and still at rank 0.
In fact I would love to see the same thing implemented for storyline missions in ch3 (with optional henchies choice).

Random Composition is what invited "leechers" or "AFKers" into Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry in the first place. As long as the "Random Composition" aspect remains, "leechers" or "AFKers" will always have the luxory of pressing the "Enter Mission" and leech or AFK away, at the expenses of others.

By making it compulsary to enter the mission as a team of 4 players, "leechers " or "AFKers" will not have the luxory of simply clicking the "Enter Mission" button and leech away. Worst case scenario is that a team of 4 "leechers" or "AFKers" team up and enter the mission as a team of 4 "leechers" or "AFKers". If this event should come to pass, I believe the other team of 4 players have the right to report the 4 "leechers" or "AFKers".

Other possible solution is instead of teams of 4 players, make it into teams of 3 players, and 3 teams of 3 players make up into 9 players per Kurzick or Luxon team in the Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry competitive missions.

It is not that hard to form a 4 player or 3 player per team group. And if you do no like W/Mo in your group, you can start your own group and recruit your own members. Surely your friends list must be quite populated, and there must be a number of friends or guild mates that you can rely upon to help you form your group of 3 or 4 players team in these Fort Aspenwood or Jade Quarry competitive missions.

I have no earthly idea why this topic is seven pages long. To me, this seems like a waste of storage space, but I digress, as this seems extremely relevant to you, Ira. So, I'll at least try to explain why I feel your idea is not going to work.

I agree here, leeches are among the lowest form of gamer life.
Rage Quiters, on the other hand, are a lower form of gamer life, and I woulnd't give them the time of day. Emphasis mine.
This simply will not stop the AFK'ers. They'll still bank on their team winning anyway, so they still get faction without doing anything.
Same problem here, only made worse. Now, when they are on a team that's gimped from the get-go and they STILL pull a win out of their hat, the AFK'er is rewarded even more greatly. That changes nothing.

I can tell you're pissed, and I'd be a little upset as well. But, if the guy is in there that often and just sits there, I can't immagine that that's a player behind the controlls. I smell bot, and that's a breach of the EULA. Report him. At the very least, that name will get a record, and if there's enough people reporting the same name/account, then it's ban time (I remember Gaile Grey mentioning something like this a long time ago, so I have little reason to doubt that this is their policy).

So, I'll just give this a simple /not Signed and call it there.

Oh, one last thing. If you come in screaming mad and take it out in verbal form, you lose credability, as you sound like a raving loon. Take some deep breaths man, take it easy. When all is said and done, it's just a game. No reason to blow a gasket over it.

However, since you (obviously) want a reason why, here goes. Note that a lot of this has already been said, I am just saying it again.

I assume the purpose of removing rewards for the losing side is to prevent people from leeching, going afk, or using a bot. The problem is that it won't prevent these things.

If the botter now only gets faction for one out of every five battles instead of every battle, he will still make faction. When the random player sets up a bot, he or she can set it up to run all day. Turn it on at night, go to sleep, go to work, come home to 10k faction. People will still go afk, use bots, and so on. The human players will just suffer more from it.

So, make the losing side lose faction, that way the botters don't enter because they won't make enough faction to make up for the losses. Again, this will not work. Since you have a good chance to lose faction when you enter this mission now, only the most "hardcore" will go in. Since these "hardcore" players intend to win often, someone going afk and leeching off of their wins will earn faction. If the "hardcore" players leave every time they see an afk, they will also lose faction (and thus stop playing, because they have to quit 5 out of every 6 battles). Now no one plays these missions.

Or, let us assume for a moment that all bots, leeches, and afkers somehow dissapeared but we still lost faction when we lose a fight (or disconnect, but I think it is idiotic to punish someone for D/Cing). Well, let us look at the kurzick side. I have often found my team pushed to the green gate, holding off in a last ditch attempt to survive until the weapon is done. I win, on average, about 50% of the time (that includes matches with people who go afk). Now imagine we are at the same green gate, defending, but now we will lose faction when we lose. Well, I can lose faction now (by leaving) or I can probably lose faction later (failing to defend). The average player will choose to immediatly lose faction and then either go in again, or go do something more rewarding (this seems to be your choice with the afkers: one that will earn you no respect and many sneers, rightly so). Once one person chooses to leave, the choice of leaving now becomes even more appealing, since the chances of winning just went down further. Since I now lose about 85% of the matches (and thus lose lots of faction) I stop playing. Word gets around that on average kurzicks will win 15% of the time, and then no kurzick will play fort aspenwood. The luxons have no one to fight, so the mission becomes dead.

I am not disagreeing on definition of the problem. Yes, the random compostion is partially responsible for this. I don't like your solution. I might remove leechers from Aspenwood, but it will also remove me from there.
As for your opinion on leaving the team: If you can say in response is that you hate me, then so be it. My consciousness (spelling?) remains clean and so I couldn't care less if you do.

Yes it will stop afkers. It will not stop them joining the game, but it will not yeild them any reward and so they will stop.
Also people seem to keep talking about my attitude yet noone have quote a single word by me that would prove that. The only exception is that i called other guy an idiot, on the previous page. What exactly is the problem with my attitude? Where was I "screaming mad"?

Also (tho it is quiet irrelevant) I have to say that "its just a game" comment is highly overrated. The enviroment set might be illusionary, but the situations and people are real. Too many people interpret your statement as "im allowed to be a jerk in game". No you not.

I already quoted several of your flames, some of which were directed at me because I commented on one of them in a sarcastic manner. So for one whole page all of your flaming was directed at me instead.

For the record, I did argee with you that something needs to be done so that we can all enjoy these missions. I think that the best thing would be to take out the ending faction reward for the losing side, but add in faction rewards for killing those on the opposing team. That way it is slower if you lose, but you still get something for the effort you put in. I already said that though, so it isn't like it matters since I don't agree with Ira my opinion is crap and I'm an idiot. Sounds just like my ex-husband.

To be honest I don't think there is much anyone can do apart from the whole team report on the AFK sure you 'might be on the phone' then move the phone closer to you or have hands free phone.

But to the point Arena net are working thier asses off with bugs and updates I mean weekly updates is preety good most games do it monthly...so I really don't think its going to change

The thing I can't stand about these posts is no one posts ideas just flames at whoever made the idea and for all people that say 'Rage Quiting' is bad oh come on! you can't tell me your all saints that never get frustated (hope thats spelt right) I've quit a few RA when we've only got one man running around the arena
So Ira leaving frustrated about Leechers is fine by me, heck I would if I was doing a mission and some one was leeching on that. Ira is obviously more into PvP and Fair enough so why should he be in a game working for faction when some lazy/desprite person is scabing his faction?

Sorry Ira I can't see any changes accuring any time soon your idea on not rewarding people for winning could work but then like people have said only hardcore people would play and as (sorry can't remeber you nickname) someone said its easy to gain faction anouther way...As for your second one sorry but a big no no on that one I don't like the idea to be punished for losing to be honest that smudges it more in my face than some 15 year old git shouting noobs lol...

Sorry if i've repeated myself on this as you got pissy about people doing that, it's just I read this thread and I see that you like this mission for its gameplay not for its reward and its getting ruined by lazy/desprite people which I strongly sympathise. Unfortutly you may wanna either carry on and get insulted by a complete jack ass nerd saying "your a waste of banwith" or take to anouther forum (not being harsh) but Guild wars guru is full of morons and you may get a better and more 'freindlier' approch on other forums which BTW get looked at by GW just check the main GW site and see what you can find.

if you decrease or remove reward for loosing side the following will happen:
1. people leave the game as soon as they see their team loosing (and try again with a different group)
2. losing team leaves and turns the other team into afk-ers

You know, I'd hate to say it, but I could see the elitist attitudes well known in Guild Wars doing some pretty annoying things with a random system that gains no rewards for losing.
