Petition to quit nerfing the hell out of us.
PieXags
Alright, I don't often put up petitions like this. But you see, for a while there I could put up with it. Now though, when every last spot I've ever found in the game has been nerfed to the point of 2-3 drops per run, well that's just the straw that broke my back, so to speak.
Alright so what do we know, well we know that I'm really pissed off for one. Secondly we know that they've gone and nerfed every single farming spot in the game that I could find, I've spent my entire day trying to find a new decent spot, even one where I could make say, 10k per hour or something, and I'm still OUT OF LUCK. No jades anywhere drop a damn thing, the gates of kryta enemies, no matter where they are or what they are, when from dropping several mediocre things that you could very SLOWLY make gold on to dropping NOTHING (almost literally, I kill 30 enemies, I get 4 drops.), the griffons drop one or two blue items...maybe, the random gold outside fishermans haven? Now considered an exploit. The UW/FoW? Yeah, if you want to spend every hour for a week that your country has down there just so you might get a max damage storm bow to sell for 30k, be my guest. A droknar runner will make more than you do in the UW/FoW, in less time than you'd ever thought.
Farming, buying/selling/giving away things...it's all that was left for me in this game. I enjoy testing builds but I can't do that because of attribute refunds, I can't get anymore money because every spot I can find at all has been nerfed to the point that it's impossible to almost find a drop period.
My question is why, why is it necessary? Droknar runners can make money, PvP players can make money, but normal PvE players who actually use the money, make it the slowest. If you're not rich already you can't expect to be able to buy much anything worthwhile anymore, because unless you get extremely rich you'll be fighting for the last bit of money for your last bit of dye.
Now that every spot in the game has been nerfed except for the lost strongbox (which isn't even a farming spot...and will maybe get you 6k in 3 hours or something...), you just can't make money. I ENJOYED working towards a goal or set of money, I enjoyed needing 100k for something and then farming solo until I reached that goal, I was motivated and it's what I did in most of my free time...because it's all that's left. But now that's been taken away from me as well. Even if they add these two new "zones" to the game, it won't matter. Go through 'em once or twice, or even 10 times...and no big deal, fun over. Then if you tried to farm there, nerf bat for sure.
I would rather see my farming spots back than the two new zones, I enjoy the feeling of being alone out there just me and the mobs making money towards a goal, and now that I can't do that...period, I need to start this petition thing.
Basically saying that---WE WANT OUR FARMING SPOTS BACK. It doesn't HURT anyone, being able to make money at a decent rate won't matter now that you've got so many gold sinks in the game. Hell how was I able to spend 200k in a day? I bought a new set of 60k armor, some dye, helped some players out, and now I've not a chance in hell to get any of it back. Some people enjoy doing PvP in those arenas and tombs over and over again, some of us enjoy working out in the zones by ourselves farming stuff. PvP people get the "here you go, you want it you have it" bat, we get the nerf bat. What's up with that? I'm tired of being bought out by droknar runners every day, lets get some farming back!

I agree anet needs to understand that different groups of people enjoy playing the game in different ways! I really enjoyed farming for my full set of 15k armor. Where do I farm now if I want something I personally enjoy pvp and farming the most pve wasn't too bad the first time through but now I find myself skipping alot of the missions with new characters just so I can unlock skills faster.
Here is one thing I want to say to anet. Trying to change the way that certain groups of people play your game when they are enjoying it makes no sense at all.
I wonder if bots are responsible for most if not all these farming nerfs

It can't be, because we fight MOBS to get our money when we farm. To stop the bots doing the wreckage runs at seekers passage they put MOBS in the way because bots can't farm like that, they do wreckage runs and run on paths, they don't fight off massive hordes of mobs for their loot. Also the mobs spawning points are usually random and the attacks they use are random, a bot can't adapt and take control like that in those situations. It isn't bots that's making them ruin these spots, if it was they would've only nerfed the high-lvl places where bots could actually farm effectively, instead they nerfed every single spot in the game, high and low lvl.

I don't think they should allow uber cheap farming spots (like the drake runs before the nerfs,) but they definitely should allow some farming spots that offer slightly better income. I was never really a farmer, but back then, I made a decent amount of money so that I could buy several pieces of ascension armor simply by playing the game casually. Now with the nerfs, it's even difficult to make money playing the game normally, and the money which I'm spending right now is that which was left over when drops were at least twice as high as they are now. The other problem is that the players who really farmed before the nerfs are running around with hundreds to millions of platinum, while the current players are put at a disadvantage.
I've staffed at and have helped develop many small MMORPG's and MUD's before, and there is a tendency for the devs to nerf the game, with the idea to increase their longevity (by making it take quite a while to reach the best end-game equipment.) For example, in one game, we had a beta test, and almost everybody obtained the best equipment very quickly. So, for the actual "release," we made almost all items cost literally 10x more than before, while keeping the income the same. Guess what? Everyone still had the best equipment (The increased costs simply made them work/grind harder to get it, but it certainly did not make them take longer to get it.) In another game, where the best equipment cost about 1-2 million game dollars per piece, it was discovered that most of the players could farm 200-300K of game money per run, roughly every hour or so. We nerfed that spot to be equal to the others because we figured that was too fast to get the best equipment (remember, this was a traditional MMORPG, where the best stuff was godly.) After a while, players started leaving, because things were too balanced and boring. The populations of both games (and a few others) dwindled and they ultimately failed; if not, I wouldn't be playing Guild Wars right now. I'm just trying to say that I believe Arenanet is nerfing the areas trying to preserve PvE's longevity. I believe the real solution would simply be adding more gold sinks, and not punishing casual players through nerfs. Right now, I'm mostly a PvPer not because I hate the concept of PvE, but because I simply don't find the current PvE game to be very enjoyable, partly due to all the nerfing. Don't get me wrong though, if they were in fact nerfing because of botting and cheating then they should continue nerfing areas as needed.

If they raised the drop rates farmers wouldn't farm because everyone could just say "I'll get that soon enough, no need to hit Ebay."
PieXags
...What're you talking about?
Everyone here is a "farmer" if even if a subtle sense, I'm not a mass 24/7 farming nerd but I do it when I need some money...and I can't even do that.
I sure as HELL would farm if the drops were increased, and then maybe I'd actually have enough money to do something!

I never farmed up until about a few weeks ago. I would farm in Scoundrel's Rise and The Breach. Now both are nerfed. Across my two PvE characters (one in Crystal Desert, one at Frost Gate) I have about 5k. That's all, just 5k and the characters' armor/weapons. Now that farming has been nerfed to nonexistance, how am I supposed to get money for new armor? There's no way I'll ever be able to afford Ascension armor at this rate!

Anet, I believe you're going about this situation the wrong way. What I believe you should be doing is increasing the means for players to get rid of gold (gold sinks), not decreasing their ability to obtain gold (nerfing).
You're shooting yourselves in the foot with every swing of the nerf bat:
The PvE players that have been around awhile with multiple ascended characters and whatnot have nothing left to work for. They have no reason to continue playing your game. I, personally, have completed all of the missions and every side quest available except for the secondary profession quests. I've got close to 30 skill points I'm doing nothing with. The only thing left for me and others like me was farming mobs solo to make cash for the 15k armors or a superior vigor or a nice weapon and it was fun doing so. You've nerfed my enjoyment right out of this game.
The new PvE players that bought the game last week, today or next week are those that you're really hurting. Had I bought your game today and played for awhile I would quickly realize that it is nearly impossible to obtain very necessary items like the Droknar's armor. What do you expect these players to do? I've got hundreds of hours into this game and at the time I reached Droknar's buying the armor there wiped me out. I was flat broke afterwards. Players that begin now or in the future will have an even harder time obtaining the funds and may reach Droknar's without the means to obtain that armor at all.
I ask that you rethink your strategy to fix whatever it is that the nerf bat is supposed to be fixing because it has a very nasty side effect: alienating new players and seasoned players alike.
Retire the nerf bat and bring back our drops and farming areas. I believe it to be in your best interests in the long run.

I've spent more than 30 hours on this game, and I've just gotten my lvl 14 W/Mo to Yak's Bend. I like a leisurely game, exploring every nook and cranny, making certain to do every quest along the way. I have salvaged/sold every scrap, and I now am the proud owner of a bank account totalling... are you ready?... 11K and change. Yep. That's it. There go my dreams of owning an axe better than 5-12 any time in the near future!
I've never seen a gold drop, and the purple drops I've seen were worth nothing beyond salvage either. I have a lousy weapon, no money to buy a better one, and apparently no chance to find a better one until I've finished the game and can work the "high level" areas? Which means that maybe my second character will have a decent weapon? Bah. If things don't start looking up, there won't be a second character. I'm enjoying the game so far, but as the mobs become stronger and stronger and my character doesn't, I envision hitting a plateau where frustration overcomes fun. That would be a shame.
