Refresh your Desktop (right click and select refresh), the Bin should dissappear. If not, make sure you set the binary value to 1.

Thanks to a lot of ppl herre (and a lot of taking other people's cool features) I was able to come up with this(tried some widgets but they didnt look good where I put them and crowded the screen a bit when I had AIM and other programs running):

Download tweakui for xp. DL link is along the right side. After installing tweakui go to the desktop tab on the left side. you will be given a choice for first icon. Make sure recycle bin is unchecked and it is gone

Mine used to be plain, but i started looking at this thread, and so i became inspired to do this. It took me like 3 hours, figuring out XP skin hack, widgets, and gettin rid of recycle bin, but i think it turned out rather nicely, i think
