No Black Dye Drop Yet...

Hi,

I have now played for 250hrs. I have ascended. I am doing last of Shiverpeaks quests. I haven't had anybody run me to anywhere. I have also visited FoW and UW...but I still haven't got a single black dye drop!

Are there other people out there who have the same bad luck?

When will the freedom bell toll for me and the Gods give me a black dye!

same thing here not sure how long ive been playing but ive beat the game wit one guy and starting my second and i havent got a black dye yet i actually just got my first silver dye 2 days ago

You could always buy it. I'm sure you've amassed a small fortune from playing 250 hours. I've only had 1 black drop, which was in pre-searing when I first started playing like 3 months ago. I bought another for 1 gold from a guy in presearing as well. I've had 3 characters ascend... I have had 7 silver drops though.

i havent got a black dye yet but i still buy them from other ppl for 4k, or 5k and i sell them to dye trader for 6k !! hehe

I didn't get my first black dye until the ring of fire missions! But after the 1st one dropped, I've had 4 more! =p

You are not the only one, I've never picked up a black dye, and I've only seen one drop, once, which was reserved for another player, and I've played through all missions with 2 characters.

Just keep playing, you might (maybe not) get one eventually (eventually = many months).

Dude ive finish this game with 3 diffrent char already i dint run anywhere and did (as far as i know) all the quests even in pre and still never even seen a black drop.

Now my 4th char i did one of the invici monks solo UW for like 5 and a half weeks and never saw a black. So i must be super unluky or black just dont drop for ppl w/o the collectors edition of the game, just kidding, no but after soloing so much i got soooooo much money now i just buy it. :P

Yeah, same for me. After 245 hours of playing, no black dye. And my GF got one in the pre-searing, in her first 10 hours of play... AAAAAARRRGG.

why does everyone want a black dye drop? surely you'd be better getting a Sup Vigor or Absorbtion rune? And you can actually use them in PVP if you get them dropped.

In my 270hours of playing, i've had 1 black dye drop. It was my first day playing and i sold it to the merchant in pre-searing for a massive 1g.

who cares? there's better ways to make money than finding black dye.

I played the E3 event, the World Week-end Event, and all but 1 of the Pre-Order week ends which means I started 2 days before retail release and I just got my first Black Dye last week and that was from my second character in Pre-Searing. So it`s not just you.

BY KRYTA i have already gotten enough including 3 double drops

black/silver
silver/silver
red/blue

ive sold over 25 silvers 3 blacks at 26 plat each and more of the junk colors and still have more than 150 in inventory including 10 blacks 17 silvers and 20+ red blue and sickening amounts of orange

all from low level enemys 14 or lower

the black/silver was from a devourer

in 800+ hours of playing I have had only 4 black dyes drop.

I've seen four black dye drops in about 50-60 hours two were reserved for me.

I have had 2 black dyes drop - both were on new characters in the pre-searing ascalon Catacombs area. Might be a slightly higher drop rate there.

All told with 4 characters I have played for 421 hours! And I have had the pleasure of having only 2 black dye drops. So yes, they are rare indeed, and if you have only played 250 hours, then this is not unusual. I think my first black dye drop came after about 300 hours.

you guys are really unlucky, ive had 10 black dyes drop, and about 30 of every other color, although no sup absorbstion.

He-he. As a noob, I used my Black Dye on pre-searing collector armor. That was a waste!

3 ascended chars, 400+hrs playtime, no black dye

300 plus hours and no blacks but I did see 2 fall on the same mission once (for others in the group).

It'd be interesting to see what the programmed drop rate is for black dye and why Anet decided to make it that (assuming it isn't some kind of fluctuating algorithm or something)....
