Big mistake by Anet...........

No point in playing the game now but pvp, before there was actually a point in killing monsters like the chance to get a godly gold item with perfect stats :O, but now there's actually no point in pve, but to get mindless endless exp. With these green items, the economy will fall for sure, what's the point of a game without pve and it's all pvp? the only thing left to do is pvp. They should had only added new weapons instead with different graphics but instead they add perfect green weapons that everyone can get. i thought u can make ur character unique in guild wars? but how can u when everyone is almost wielding the same weapons without a achievement of getting a godly weapon and showing it off . Most people inspire of one thing in a game, to be rich and to have the best looking char , now i suppose a-net wanted this game to be unique, but what's the point of killing monster's when there is no demand for items no more?
ttujc
It has never been my aspiration in a game to be rich or have the best looking character. My purpose in a game is to have fun. The green weapons in no way make the game any less fun.
Kampfkeks
Uhm?
You've still got to kill the monsters first, you've still got to buy (or farm) the keys. The only thing that has been taken out of the game is the reason for a rampant economy. And that was actually one of their best decisions to do. Boohoho, someone can't sell his +25 health mod for 200 plat anymore...
And actually, i find farming in Grenths Footprint (even with a full team) much much more enjoyable than everywhere else in Tyria. Thumbs up for the patch, thumbs up for the chests, thumbs up for the green items. Took out a LOT of boring grind and exchanged it with fun grind.

I'd prefer they work on the combat graphics and combat mechanics, and make killing monsters more fun to watch and play. I dont care at all about the stuff that you get. I care about getting more skills, but that's only because its fun to use new skills on monsters.
Oh, and working on the monster AI also makes them more fun to kill.

Thats my argument as well. Selling with probably not occur unless the item is a perfect fellblade/crystaline.

No but seriously, ANet has NEVER wanted to court people the godly/uber crowd. Collector's Items have existed for quite some time with perfect stats.
It's always been a matter of getting the perfect mods.
PvP chars got the advantage there with the faction system, and could easily unlock any weapon mod at max stats. PvE players were at a disadvantage because of this.
Rare weapons were made more common in general, and now there're green items.
Green items are the same as a collector's item; Once the mods go on, you can't get them off. And these mods were pre-set.
How many people would choose a +7 vs phsyical (max shelter mod) over a +5 general defence (max defence mod)? Well, if you want that green item's other mods, you have to settle.
In the end, there never were, and never will be godly items, and all that's been done is made it a more level playing field for unlocking and finding weapons and items between PvP and PvE players.
Crystalline fellblades and storm bows haven't changed. Fiery dragon swords haven't changed. Collector's items haven't changed. Somehow, I think there will still be a market for items advertised 'uber' and 'godly' regardless of what changes the game goes through.

the green weps are for casual players. maybe they actually meant skill>time(lol).
i was excited about the update, but then i remembered it was just more hours of mindless grind, whats the real point.
the update still wasn't that bad:
skill refunds now gone(yay)
trial members ships into guild is always cool to meet new people.
pve is okay, but i was hoping for more depth, not more grind. hopefully in the expansion they'll include puzzles, where it just isn't follow point a to point be. make it like more like zelda(fun game).
i mean the new quests are challenging but its the same as all other quests just more difficulty. i believe that puzzle games would add a new dimension to the game. i mean come on the story line so far sucks beyond egzivln(random). it shouldn't be be pve it should be a adventure game.

Actually, it's exactly what they needed to do to help keep this "casual" game designed for "causal" gamers so that all have an equal chance to have decent equipment and no 1 person has all the uber items and millions in gold...power gamers need not apply...go back to EQ. Not everyone has no life with hours of time to play and farm for the rare items that they can price gouge the rest of the community with.

Horses for courses.
I'm glad that golds aren't as rare as what they were before the patch. It solves a lot of issues for players, and makes traders asking for silly money have to think again about why they're playing the game.
There was already too much hype over gold items, and this thing with the chest does a great job of readressing the balances.
Of course, there will always be someone who will spam the trade channel in LA offering Godly gold items,(or green items), but the long and short of it now is that people have more opportunity to get their "Godly" items for themselves, and won't feel so bad about selling gold stuff to merchants if it's not the weapon for them.
Flashz - I think you need to readdress exactly what a "godly gold" drop is - It's a weapon with a few mods and some yellow lettering. It's not an excuse to try to fleece 50k-250k+ectos from some mug who buys his money off Ebay, and it never has been either.
Sorry to hear you just lost your customers, BTW.

Didn't you guys complain about the 'grind' of this game, and how rediculous some of these items costs, regardless of the fact that just about anyone can go make a pvp character, and stock him up with basically a perfect weapon free of cost (emphasis on free)
I think I like this. I mean, the whole gist of this game is on skill rather than time. Now that every person regardless of being compitent or not can get their hands on just about any item as easy as anyone else, the only difference would be skill. Rather than 15%>50 perfect damage swords that no one bothers to customize, when a clean max dmg weapon that is customize would net an even greater damage bonus (20% damage always). Or +30 fortitute mods when shelters are obviously superior, or pay dozens of more plats for weapons that merely 'look' better than another sword with the same exact stats. When in the end, all that awesome gear won't make THAT much of an impact.
I just don't know. Maybe people still have their minds in a place where high end gear and cookie cutter builds = wins.
Oh well. D:

I Agree with the original poster. A-net is promoting communism, or at least wealth redistribution to the casual gamer who has little as far as time invested in getting gold in game. It seems that now, you don't have to put much at all into getting uber items, besides spend some money on keys and kill some bosses in SF/GF. If they do infact espouse this method of reward for doing hardly anything and redistributing to the hardly active, the same methods in real life would sure put them out of business and quick. So reward your laziest workers and remove all incentive for working hard. Lowering the bar for everyone means there is no excellence to strive for, and as such, this patch is a failure of grand proportions.
For the mods they have, and to be fair to all the non-bot farmers who have gone before who have put in thousands of man hours farming to find not only items for themselves but others, Green items should have a drop rate of .001%. That or find the common drop rate for perfect items by class and duplicate those item drop rates for greens ( plus make them even rarer still after that since they are green ).

This game was never supposed to be about wealth and uber-whatevers. Now the playing field is levelled and the game back on track to it's design and intent.
This is good.
Bad for the eBay crowd... but good for the game.

OMFG!!!one111!!!!!!!! Communism! What are we do to?! For the love of God could you people stop acting like there is actually a POINT to playing this game? The only real objective is to divert yourself from the real world for a bit, have some fun! Sure you may want that uber weapon or whatever, but there's no real point in THAT either now is there? You aren't going to be remembered and thought of fondly because you have an amazing gold weapon.
Edit: ...Communism... hahahahahahaha.... communism... i'm going to be laughing about that one for a while. Please close this thread.

I'd say that if someone wants to have "uber items" and "look cool" this isn't the game for you. Maybe Diablo 2?
This game has NEVER been about "uber" anything, whether items, gold accumulation or skills. Sheesh...read the game box before you buy it next time.

Where can i get godly green items? in sorrow's furnace? or outside war camP?

Want grind? go play Dungeon Seige 2, wanna to explore and just enjoy being in a world? play GW!
I play both now, and my craving for grinds is satisfied with DS2, and my need for good pvp and exploration is met in GW

Personally, I hope that the green items help a lot more players get equipment which is 'perfect', even if it's not the version of 'perfect' that that individual prefers (7 AC shelter vs 5 AC defense for example). The economy is hosed, and there's no reason someone should have to farm for days on end to get the money to buy a weapon that's identical to their current weapon but with a 15% conditional damage increase and a couple nice mods. If you want the time you spend farming make you more likely to beat a more skilled player, go back to <insert Sony game here>.

Maybe you should change the word "Communism" - it doesn't work here.
If your goal in the game is to achieve 1000k in your storage, with FoW armour, "Godly" weapons and all that jazz, you're playing the wrong game. Traders charging 100k+ in LA for uber-rare weapons are playing the wrong game. People feeling obliged to buy ebay money so they could aquire these items, or people striving to obtain these items are playing the wrong game.
Why should there be a single most coveted weapon in the game when it does the same amoiunt of damage as the others (give or take a few %)? Why should anyone choose to pay 50k+ for a weapon because of the colour of the lettering, and what exactly is fun about standing in LA shouting "WTS, WTS" just cos you were lucky enough to find a gold item?
Also, did you ever notice that the merchant value on these items is roughly 200-500g? - These items were never intended to swap hands over 100k+50 ectos. They are rare, and it's still costly and difficult to find one to suit you, but at least you can do it while you're playing the game....and best of all, LA traders will not be so ridiculous in their advertising, pitching or price-setting, and people can get on with playing the RIGHT game!!
Red Sonya
On a more rational note instead of ranting like most of you are doing, there are people that are "goal" oriented. They aren't necessairly into the "grind" of things, but, they do like to feel challenged, time of course an element. It's been the driving nature of most mmorpgs for many years now. This game is not a full fledged mmorpg game, it does or rather did have elements of one though until this last patch. I too am disappointed in the outcome of it. I had goals that I knew would take time and not be easy to aquire, now, I have seen those goals become nothing more than a romp in a couple of areas and max capped equipment falling easily into my hands. And you are correct, this has now become "not the game for me".
Now, my point here is this, as I feel this way others will also, the population of this game will now begin to dwindle, it will eventually be reduced to nothing more than PVP players since the PVE game is nothing more than a miniscule time sync now to aquire the best of everything very easily now. You are looking now at a future Shadowbane type game. There are a lot of us that are goal oriented and enjoy the challenge of discovery or continous play of certain areas trying to obtain those goals, perhaps days, perhaps weeks, perhaps months or years even. But, that is gone for us, thus many of us will be gone as well. Many of us who have no care for PVP at all and merely came to this game because at first it offered a challenging and goal oriented PVE game. It had solid elements of both, there were driving goals to play the PVE game and farm loot/skills on a daily basis. This last update has ruined that which many of us came to enjoy about the game. Trading and making substantial sums of money is just as much fun to many as getting all the skills or the most uber of weapons or most uber looking of gear is to others. Trading will become miniscule now as well. Something else that will futher reduce the population of this game.
Today I reopened my Everquest Account, I have no futher need nor see any futher enjoyement out of this game from the PVE view of it. And since PVP isn't my cup o twah, I must now go back to a game that offers the challenge of discovery, the feel of "accomplishment", the "value of the goods I find to sell remaining worth something", the fun of trading and being part of a simulated world that feels alive and everything is not handed to the players on a silver platter as this last patch has done for GWs.
Sorry A-Net, but, you went a bit too far out of the fun value I enjoyed from this game. You allow runners, you now allow ease of aquiring just about anything and everything (all skills on one vendor rediculous), you took away that ability to be "unique", but, instead have given everyone the opportunity to be identical, the same in a sense yes a communistic type of gameplay now. Capitalism has always brought out the best in most people, and communisim brings out a laziness in most people, why work/earn what you get when you can get it just as easily as the rest by just doing as little as possible and waiting on the developers to give it to you what many believe "their fair share" when they did absolutely nothing to earn it, except stand in the "free food line".
Of course I will not be purchasing your expansion(s). Even though the game is free to play online, there's no goal to play it even being free. If there is, you tell me what it is? To be assimulated to be like everyone else? I hardly think that's much of a goal of a game. To play endless mindless pvp?? You should have kept the PVE game seperate from the PVP game, keep the pve game more goal oriented on an individual unique basis, where time=skill and pvp skill>time as it was for the most part by being able to create a level 20 pvp character and unlock the skills from that portion of the game, that was the correct way to do it, but, you crossed the boundaries with this last patch, you gave too much and left nothing to be challenging or any form of longevity of goals for the pve game. All things being equal is not fun, the real world is a great lessson into what makes a great game, if everyone can run the 100 dash at the same speed, what's the use of running the race, where the only skill left is to push your other competitors off the track.

Sorry if I'm mistaken, but isn't PvE player vs. environment? Who cares if everyone else has the same great sword as you? Not that it's actually much better than collectors.
Why is it that prior to update, you had people with the elite skills, armor, etc. and keep failing thunderhead, thirsty, ring of fire, etc.? It's because it's the way the game was meant to be, you can't play 1 million hours, use exact same tactics, not learning a single thing, gain experience and make your character stronger and beat a certain mission.
You actually have to learn to adapt to the situation and figure out a strategy. The update didn't change that. The goal and accomplishment is in finishing all the missions/bonuses/quests. It's not in obtaining the non-existent uber weapon which lets me kill everything in 1 hit.
This is like a traditional rpg. For example, in FF7, you can get an ultimate sword. You can get the Knights of the Round esper/eidolon/whatever it was in that game. So can everyone else that has the game. It doesn't make it any less rewarding. It doesn't mean you can beat emerald and ruby weapon. Doing THAT was an accomplishment.
