The NICEST people you've encountered on GW!

When NF first came out, I couldn't get a chunk of drake flesh to drop no matter how many I killed.
So, I finally decided to swallow my pride and buy one. As I was waiting for a reply, someone ran up and opened a trade window. Long story short (too late) he gave me one for free. When i asked him if there was something I could do to repay him, he replied: "sure, do something nice for someone else."
To this day, whenever I get drake flesh, I give it away in kamadan, and every so often weapons or runs.

When I made a PvE monk a while go I was in the Tahnakai Temple Mission outpost when a person came up to me and gave me 1k. He said, "Thanks for being a monk."

My Mesmer got a run from Ascalon to Amnoon all in one go by a warrior for free. This was almost two years ago. Ever since then I've been doing most of my runs for free.
Two April Mornings
I would definitely have to say a lot of the XoO alliance. Mature people have tended to be nicer in the game.

oh man my best experience with another player might not have landed me a sigil or anything but it was, i think, the reason i'm still playing the game. In my first day or two playing the game, as a baby necro in pre searing I met some character who was doing a quest i was on (being so new that i thought a- you needed to find a party of people to go outside and b- pre searing mattered). S/he did the last couple of quests there with me, the pre searing end mission, and a bunch more in ascalon after that, answering all my questions about the differences between quests and missions, what a signet was, what the hell salvaging was all about ... everything. Patiently waited for me to read through quest descriptions and spend ages trying to find full parties of players to do anything instead of just telling me to grab henches or bringing in a higher level char to run me... you get the idea. Anyway, after hours of this, having quested, explored and finished that first ascalon mission (with bonus) with me, before I logged off s/he had me go to the armor crafter and list off mats needed for my first ever set of grown-up armor, then logged on with (at the time) unbelieveably armored ele and gave me all the materials and money i needed to craft it, plus a desert collector bone staff which i ended up using the whole way through the game.
Talk about a warm welcome. Hard to say I guess but I feel like that's the single biggest reason I got into this game as much as I did in the first place.

Some guy in LA gave me his account because he wasnt playing anymore. all he asked was that i didnt change the password. I dont play it much, but its nice to have.
Da Tru Legend
On Christmas Day, some guy said he barely played Guild Wars so he didn't need most of what he had. He gave me 83 ectos and 53 obsidian shards...O_O. A few days later, I gave about 25 ectos to a friend who needed encouragement to start playing Guild Wars again. ^_^

My guildies I have known for 2 years, and maybe 2-3 people not in my guild on my friend list. I don't really meet random nice people, most people are only nice after I've known them for awhile.
Alex the Great
my guild leader bought me a 40k sword when i was low on cash, and only charged my 5k for it, because he was happy that his band got a new gig.
and another guildy always has weapon mods so he helped me outfit a few guys back when i was a noob, stuff like caster weapons and bows for my ranger. i estimate the mods he gave me were worth 60k at the time.
helped an alliance leader transefer some stuff to his alt account, he gave me 5 of the 20 golds i transfered

i dont know what the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me is, but my friend i know irl, well HIS friend is filthy rich. i mean he has 2 pandas and everlasting beetle juice tonic, and he let my friend i know in real life help him sell armbrace. like the guy was so damn rich he trusted my friend with 5 armbraces at a time to sell, and he even let my friend keep two of them :O

"The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good."

I've met the best people when i played the game oblivious. The only problem is that i can never thank them, i can only do the same.
and cash is shittles, a good person learnes someone to farm.

When I first started playing the game, a random person ran up to me and just gave me a nice purple staff (it was max, had decent mods). This was back when max weapons were harder to come by and there were no greens. I used that staff all the way through the game, and then passed it on when I finally found something better.
I've had several nice people freely offer to run my little characters places, even though I never asked for one. They just did it to be nice.
I've had a few guildies that have been very generous. In particular, there was a nice guy who gave me many greens back when Sorrow's Furnace was still a hot place to farm. He often just chatted with me on TS for hours, just to hang out. He's not on that much anymore, but he still says hello and asks how I am as a person when he does come online. Tim, I doubt you'll ever see this, but you're smexy.

Naming four football teams with bird-related logos got me a handful of items worth around 12k.

In our guild we also give away a lot of things. Our only rule is 'no trade between members', so we are always giving stuff for free, like tomes we don't have use for, weapons, and things like those.
But I've never met much people in that way. There is not much of that in the Spanish districts where I usually am.
I give away the green items I don't want. That's usually... all of them! Since I only use inscribed req9 weapons and I have no patience to trade greens. I give usually to my guild members, but sometimes I just give them to the first level 5..16 character I see.
I sometimes keep a lot of collector items, specially when I have newbie characters in one region. When my 3 Istani characters fianlly left Istan, I gave away all the trophies I was gathering for there that can be trader for armor or consumables. Termite legs, drake flesh, iboga leaves, skale fins, insect appendixes, harpy wings, etc...
That made a couple of kids quite happy in the outposts I gave them away, XD.
One day I found that one of my friends was lacking some outposts, and I could not accept that! I guided her to all the outposts she was missing in Prophecies. It was a fun hour running around killing low level creeps! We ended up vanquishing an area at the end. Tangle Root, quite easy.
I usually offer my 'free guide services' in pre-Searing, leading newbies to all outposts and where armor collectors are, with the fastest routes that take them to all the collectors and outposts in one single run. I've only seen one person doing so too in Spanish districts.
Why do people make things like those?
For me there is no real reason. When they thank me and ask me what do I want in exchange, I only ask them: Do something good for some else yourself.
I wish more people did things like those, unfortunately, I've never found myself much people like those, maybe it's just that kind personas are few, and people in Spanish Distritcs is fewer than in others...
With the unification of districts worldwide, I will try to go all 'around the world' and see what people is like over there. Will people be more fair to those of their country or to anyone regardless of where they are from?
It will sure be fun testing that.

Kindest person I know.....took the time to run 12 of my characters from LA to ascalon. I paid him for a few of them, but he didn't want payment for the rest. So I bought his Primeval armor for him instead.

I'm going to fray away from the self-admiration that seems to be a trend in this thread. This kid is the nicest person I've met lately
Why? Because he said THANK YOU. Something not often heard in this game What a nice little level 5 monk he was
He was struggling to buy LA armor, so I figured he could put more use to it than I was.

About 9 months ago I started chatting to a very friendly person I met in a GW appreciation group on Facebook, we were discussing the joys of taking down Abaddon in NF (At that stage I had just finished NF with my 1st toon ever created.
She also gave me plenty hints & tips on the game (coz I was still somewhat of a n00b in the game at that time) and especially on playing Necro, seeing as her main toon was one as well. I didn't own PH or Fact yet, and EotN wasn't even heard of back then. I played MM using NF only skills, which kinda sucked :/
Someone organised me a free trial key for PH & Fact, and then above person I met offered to run me thru to Fact 2 go cap Flesh Golem for my Necro.
After doing that run & getting new skills, I decided to go out & buy PH & Fact!
On my birthday (irl) she gave me various green items all related 2 necro attributes, as well as a minipet (^^,) At that stage I had only been playing the game for about a month, so I was really chuffed over the items. I still have them with me, Scorpius still uses it to this day!
I met said person's boyfriend, who was also just as friendly, and always offered to help me with quests. They offered to help me do 3 NF quests on Masters so I could get my protector title, they also helped me in various other situations.
Very friendly couple, always pm's u when they see you in-game, always checking to see if I needed help with anything. Never have they asked for anything in return (not that I haven't offered them! )
LOL sorry about the essay, just realised now that I'm rambling on again...
Okay to sum up: Said buddies as above were always friendly, helpful, and never had any wisearse comments "LOL, NOOB!" No, they helped. They corrected, and gave truthful answers when I had questions (Before I discovered the Guildwiki XD)
These guys deserve a medal for friendlyness, companionship and just being kick-donkey pals. I am proud to now call them my friends

Another instance I had was when a warrior ran my Ele to all the desert missions in PH, free of charge, just because she felt like doing a trip before she had 2 go 2 bed (^^,) Random

the nicest i knew was this guy in ascalon who was giving out free weapons to low levels. i didn't take his weapon but i appreciated the effort. the thing was this was my 8th character and i already had a weapon set ready for the char. i hadn't gotten it because i just got out of pre

Aaaaaages ago when Sorrow's Furnace was new, some nice person gave my necro (my only character, and I was poor) Morgriff's Scepter and The Shadestone for free when I was asking around about good necro weapons.
So recently I was finally able to kinda complete that circle by giving the same weapon-set to another newbie necro (since I'd managed to acquire spare duplicate copies of the weapons in the meantime...don't remember quite how :S) who was asking much the same question.

A few days back I was in Shing Jea Monastery, quite bored, and some guy aksed if anyone liked cookies. Given the random things everyone says in there, well I replied that I did and such x]. The guy ran up to me, opened trade and gave me a pumpkin cookie for free. Yeah, it's a single pumpkin cookie, but I thought it was really nice of him =].

I have someone in my guild who is always more than willing to help anyone with a mission when he is on, and offers advice without making me feel like a dumbass. To me thats what I see as someone who is the nicest.
I really do not ask for anything item or gold wise because I find it rude to ask, and when people ask me I give them a big fat hell no

Christmas 2006 I was scammed out of 30k in Lions Arch (don't ask) and I was moaning because I was going to spend the money on Christmas presents. Some very, very kind person whispered me, then traded me 30k and wished me a merry christmas. He/she was the kindest person I've ever met.

I was in maybe my 2nd PUG and someone asked why I didn't have any Elite skills. When we were done playing the person told me to follow them with a Cap sig.
Took me to get Searing Flames
When I asked if I could tip or something they said just help someone later.
I'm tyring to live up to me end of the bargain.

Well I guess the nicest people that I've met are all mainly guildies. I do recall once a guy helped me farm a green that I had wanted for a week but had no luck dropping. He gave it to me when it dropped for him after I asked, "Are you sure?" several times.
Boondocksaints
Nicest people are my guildies and guild leader.
Trelliz
I was trying to get the last 0.01% of cantha explored by trying to get banished against shiro, and a ranger very kindly kept doing the mission with me several times before i got it.
That was nice.
That was nice.
Kotetsu Rain
Definently the legendary R/W droks runner and the creator of the D/A era of drok running (who were both my teachers at one time) Rekai Tsubasa and Feel The Slipstream.
Because of them I first started making money and got a lot of new online friends. I still thank them to this day. Kinda sad that they don't play anymore.

Id like to post here and thank whoever it was that took the time 33months ago to explain to a lvl 11 wammo why picking up golds and purples is a good idea and why you should merch white items. Unfortunatly i cant recall your name but i do remeber we were outside borlis pass.
Thank you
Also you ID'ed a purple item that had just dropped for me and gave it back, no questions asked

not long after prophecies release and i'd joined my first guild. the guild leader ran me around the shiverpeaks so i could buy better skills/armor/etc. he just generally showed me the ropes of the game i hadn't picked up on yet and was a great guy all around.
wish he still played and that the guild didn't die when he left.

During my first couple of weeks in CV, one of the officers came up to me in the GH and gave me a Red Iris Flower and a little speech about how glad she was to have me here. She was doing a similar thing for all the guildies because it was Valentine's Day, but the personal touch was still really moving.
Way back before I was even playing on my own account, my little Warrior had just made it to post and encountered a guy running to Piken Square. From there, he said he felt inspired, and ran to Yak's Bend...and Beacon's Perch...and Droknar's Forge. For free. I still remember watching his progress, needing to discover the zoom-out function on the map to see the whole thing, and suddenly realizing how huge GW was.
This thread is making me think that I should go back to selling decent white items for their merchant price in Ascalon. I did it for a while and people really appreciated it, but then I fell out of the habit.

Back when I had only been in GW for a month, only had Factions, people in SJM were talking about where they were in the game and I was saying I had been stuck on the "big squid" for nearly a week. A lovely ele asked me to join team, grabbed an assassin friend and ran me though to a masters in about 10 minutes flat.
It was nothing to her and her friend to do the mission, but it meant a week of getting smacked around by Argo or a squid was at an end.
So she is the nicest person I've met, but I have met some other really nice people.
Especially a lovely little monk with horns.

During my first hour of Guild Wars a level 18 asked if I was a new player. I said yes and then she asked if I needed help or had any questions. We talked for awhile and she proceeded to explain some of the games workings with me and where some nice quests were. She had no reason at all. Didn't ask me to join a guild or anything.
Torture Spike
The nicest person I've ever seen on GW, is a character called "Storyteller Seyah" She's/He's never spoken to me, but I watch them (In a non perverted way..) She/He sits in Champions Dawn two times a week, telling stories to people who want a break from grinding. She/He always gets flamed by the odd random idiot for telling kids stories, but she/he carries on regardless. It's nice to see someone just trying to entertain the masses for selfless purposes.
I for one, enjoy her/his stories. Yes, they are random stories about carrots or caves or moles, but it's just nice to listen and relax.
