W/X FoW Spider Farmer
Racthoh
I think it depends on their opening actions. Sometimes they'll chase after me, sometimes they'll slap an Empathy on me, sometimes they just attack. It *might* depend on how close you get to them, afterall enemies will try to get ahead of you when you have a speed boost skill in effect. It's not something I put much thought into; sometimes I can stop to heal sometimes I have to keep on running.
Murder In China
It was the first time they chased after me.
Racthoh
Okay.... they did something to this area, at least in the run I just did it was messed up. See the image... the spider was doing it's knocked over animation when it was using Apply Poison or Healing Spring.

Hehe, I've been immortalized
Ajantis
Noticed that too, they also don't use healing spring every 20 seconds anymore.. Sometimes they don't use it at all.
And the knockdown animation is pretty funny if 5 do it at once
It has not gotten harder, almost died cause I was waiting for their healing spring to activate.. It's a bit more chaotic now but easier to spot due to their knockdown animation when they start using it

Actually I noticed the same thing on Charr Hunter's when they're using Ignite Arrow.
It looks like all of the Ranger mobs now use that animation while using a prep.

Would this work (W/Me)? I don't want to waste my money testing...
Flurry / Executioner's Strike / Power Attack / Epidemic / Physical Resistance / Healing Signet / Dolyak Signet
Alright. So the Spider's got Melandru's and that's all dandy. But it only gives them 2 health regeneration. Poison is 4 health degeneration, so the Spider's around you would all get poisoned for 2 health degeneration. Not the greatest, but it is still helpful. Also, Physical Resistance proves high defense for a long period of time if only a few points are invested. And since there aren't many elemental attacks in the Spider farming area, you can sacrafice the elemental resistance.
I don't know... just thinking.

Physical Resistance and Flurry are both stances, you cannot use them at the same time.
Epidemic spreads conditions from target FOE to adjacent FOES, so you would need to poison them to spread poison.
So in short, this would not work.
If you want a W/Me:
Sprint
Sever Artery
Gash
Wild Blow
Victory is Mine {E}
Watch Yourself!
Healing Signet
Physical Resistance
This build is good for beginners because it is easy to run.

Yes, it messes me up sometimes. All the rangers that use apply poison, like skeleton rangers, all do that. Another thing I noticed, the spiders don't use healing spring as much when I am fighting the one right next to it. Much easier, I don't have to pay attention to the second one to use cyclone axe. So the one i like to hurt first gets all the cleaves it can handle

This build is good for beginners because it is easy to run. Yeah, I was entirely aware Phys Resist and Flurry were both Stances. As for Epidemic, didn't read it entirely. I thought it passed your condition onto all adjacent foes. My mistake
Now. I look at that build... the spiders will use Melandru's because of the dual conditions (maybe tripple). They will still have degen, albeit too little for any real impact. ViM... Uh-huh. I don't know. Racthoh's original build is still working for me.

I don't know. Racthoh's original build is still working for me. Well, the idea behind the build that I posted is that you bleed and deep wound a spider, then wild blow him when he uses Resiliance. Bye-bye stances.
Wild Blow is a pretty sucky skill due to losing all adrenaline, but you use it right after a combo (hence all adrenaline is already gone)
This way they recieve 20% less health from Healing Spring and have -3 degeneration. Not to mention ViM will heal you for an instand ~150 and give you 10 energy
This build is not as fast as killing as the original one posted because it is not "hit heavy" and builds up adrenaline relatively slower. It is by far a lot SAFER though and that's why I reccomend it to spider-newbies
With ViM as an insta-heal and Healing sig to follow up if you are in trouble, it becomes harder to die. Not to mention that effectivly, Physical Resistance = Dolyak without the slowdown so if you are in trouble you can make a quick getaway.
I switch my builds around a lot, since I don't like sticking to 1 thing. Experimenting is loads of fun

Rape of Faith
Would it be possible to just carry "I Will Survive!" as a temporary poison negation? I mean, you would only have 1 health degeneration with IWS on, but still. A lot better than 4 health degeneration. Or can you not stack shouts?
tuna-fish_sushi
It is possible to stack shouts yes...
Rape of Faith
That's cool, then. I mean, 10 seconds of it isn't long, but still. It's helpful.
linkid
Possibly with severe artery (or some condition) on two spiders around you at the same time, you may never need to use Healing Signet. Using I Will Survive! and Victory is Mine!.
In 30 second cycle, there would be:
30 seconds of -4 regen from poison (240 hp degeneration).
Should be 0 damage from attacks
2 of 50 x 2 or so hp heals from Victory is Mine! (and 2 of 5 energy)
10 seconds of +3 regen from I Will Survive! (60hp regeneration, for 5 energy).
That's +20hp (and 5 energy) every 30 seconds... if you do it immediately after cooldown.
But you might still want Healing Signet getting to the coast and spiders, so I don't really know.
Hopefully no calculation errors.

I was just wondering, is this build your original idea, cuz i was using this build long before it had ever been posted. But i do not believe the idea came from you.... Im not sure, i would love 2 credit u 4 this, but i just cant be sure, since everyone wants credit for this one...
Rape of Faith
It's Racthoh. I bet he did figure it out on his own. He also figured out solo UW with a W/N, solo Ring of Fire with another W/* build. He's a good builder.

The original post of that build was last edited on my guild's site on the 25th of October. I hadn't posted it until I had the build down and deaths were minimal. I had been testing it in groups that would quit after the forgemaster, so I had a clear path to the hardest part of the cave to "challenge" myself with. Prehaps I've stumbled upon something that several people have already been doing well then, this is how I did it and I'm telling everyone how I did it.
Read the UW solo one as well, then make your conclusions as to whether I'm just stealing what I've written here. I know other FoW solo guides have popped up elsewhere, and I've heard of warriors soloing other parts of FoW before but not the cave on the beach. And whether or not that's true is a different story on its own. So again, just read some of my posts, other guides... then make your conclusion again. That's all I ask.
If that still doesn't convince you, I could send you an extensive screenie from my guild's forums, which details how I've been using that identical build since before the 9th of September, along with all of the responses. I wasn't farming spiders at that time, merely proof that I came upon the design quite some time ago. This was also before the boost to Dolyak Signet's strength, which plays a key role in the build.

regarding ryuho's claim, there is a chance that he could have been using this build for a long time as well. i don't mean any offense at this rac, but the *build* itself is pretty standard. galrath, final, and hundred blades is a popular combo amongst sword warriors. dolyak + watch yourself is a common armor boosting combo for solo farmers and tankers, and healing sig is one of only a few options a warrior has for self healing.
so, whereas the build itself is nothing exceptional, it's the particular farm run and strategies that rac deserves credit for. i wouldn't be surprised if other warriors out there in tyria are running around with this particular build. it is a very solid build, after all. but honestly, how many people out there will idle in toa and think to themsleves, "hmm... i think i will waste 1k and run through a dangerous beach filled with 2-elite carrying skales and try to clear an obscure tunnel filled with spiders today."?
so maybe ryuho has been using this same build for a while. however, unless he can show proof of himself soloing fow cave spiders before any of rac's posts here or in our guild forums, i think rac takes undeniable credit for the farm run.

I think that's why I love the build so much; it's so easy to use, and it works pretty well everywhere. The weakness of the defense is Soothing Images, Sympathetic Visage, and Ignorance. The offense is only hindered by typical warrior flaws.
Just makes me mad it took me so long to happen upon such a simple build.
However, I would prefer if the thread not become a debate about where the credit should go. Let it remain as a discussion thread where players who are struggling with the basics of it can get the answers they deserve. It takes more than a simple farmer to get this area working for them, and I take solace in the fact knowing that what knowledge I have divulged on them has helped develop a better warrior.

i was just pointing out that people shouldn't fight over the build. it is a rather simple, yet very effective one.

Yea aight uhuh it's real shit G.
I Thank you for this great way of farming FOW.. I edited just a lil for my axe's but the setup is great.. I took out all the driftwood's and dryder's on the beach.. @ the Tunnel i am confronted with another 4 dryder's.. I can't get the last one without getting a massive group of spiders on my ass..
And Yes I am wielding a longbow and NO I am not even near them with my agro bubble..
I bet it's just patience and i'm maybe a lil too much of an eager beaver but even if i get killed there i have had some good drops..
First run.. 2 Shards.. (only took out 6 but hey)
2nd run 3 Shards, Gold Shadow Bow, Purple Chaos Axe
3rd run 3 Shards, Gold Shadow shield..
You do the match..
Racthoh u are a heck of guy.. shame on the jealous noobs that say different..
Thx

For the last dryder (I hope I'm thinking of the right one), you have to remember that if your aggro bubble touches where he was standing even after death that it will trigger the spawn. Hug the edge of the beach if need be, go around the jagged piece of uh... earth that's sticking out of the ground and then pull the dryder.
Regardless of what you do (from my testing anyway), once you pop the first group of spiders it pops them all.

LOL! in the big world if u don't get on the ball someone will steal ur ideas b4 u can do ne thing wiht them, and then ur F@#ked. Thats how life works. If u ppl wanted credit for this build and it was truely ne one elses idea than u should have got on the ball and posted it b4 Racthoh could. Thats why in the real world they have a little thing called patents and copyrights. Even they don;t do u any good if u delay on taking credit for ur work.

Man I love the build been using it for just about 2 weeks now and have made over 200k + still have lot of items I need to sell (bout 100-150k worth). Hey and I would say that pretty good, considering America never has the favor when I get on.

Obviously the build is nothing really special, but the concept of a lone warrior farming FoW is crazy.
And Racthoh didn't simply sketch the idea, but he developed a fully detailed, 100% successfull strategy to complete the run.
The stroke of genius is not the build itself, but to use that build with a lone warrior *into the fissure of woe*.
So stop bitching about the credit and try finding out something like this.
And sorry for my crap english.

And Yes I am wielding a longbow and NO I am not even near them with my agro bubble.. If this is the one I'm thinking of (there are three at the entrance and then a fourth one a little further into the tunnel), the fourth one always makes the initial spider groups spawn for me. Once I attack this initial groups is when the whole lot then spawn.
I usually ignore this last dryder until after the spiders are all dead and then take it out when entering the tunnel. It just means that you have to be more careful of it there if you stay around the tunnel entrance, although that's not really a hassle as I usually run back near the ghost to pick off individual groups of spiders.
