Flurry

Watch Yourself
Galrath Slash
Final Thrust
Healing Signet
Physical Resistance
It worked great, only Flurry was kinda usless only time I ever used it was to take out the mesmer spiders.
With physical resistance I was able to just sprint my way into spiders and survive having as many as there is on me, its so great cut my time in like half.
But my last 2 runs I didn't even get 1 shard..

damn thats lucky, I guess I gotta keep trying and hope I get better stuff then last time's. Its just so time consuming a run takes like an hour - hours and a half of devotion to it.
Also is it possable for a Warrior to solo UW as well?
I know of 2 man teams but I would like to try and solo UW sometime.

Believe me, it is true.
I was quite jealous when i heard of it ^^
Warrior UW: It is possible, i think Racthoh has already made up a thread. Just look for it

I have tryed Your solo farming build for FoW and it has proved decently good, but everytime I get to the spiders they kill me very fast. I have only cleared the beach once of spiders. I can harly take on 8 let alone the full group. I am confused on what to do at this point. Can you help me and tell me what to do? I have read your descreiption and I'm still not sure. If you decide to help me here please be specific. Thanks.
P.S. Once in a spider run 1 dropped a obsidian shard. I dies before I could pick it up. I really need to find out how face the spiders. Its not killing them thats the problem. Its surviving long enough to kill them.
Thanks

With dolyak + watch yourselves on, you should be taking 0 damage from spiders at most. Under 10s during healing signet, the only damage that you're really taking is the poison but with healing signet you shouldn't die at all. Hm, what equip are you using?
BrotherGilburt
Nothing much really
My shield has no mods on it. Just 16 amor. my sword has a small chance to gain double adrenaline on hit(6% chance), +5 armor at all times, and more damge when health is under 50%. But it's weird. I have downloaded and watched Racthohs movie of the spider run and in it he does it so much better than I do it. I have trouble faceing anymore than 5. Is there something special I have to do to clear the spiders? I'm saving up for fissure armor so I really need to get this right!
Thanks

I believe that for some reaon I'm not taking 0 damage. For some reason there getting in a good armount Of damage on me. I even use healing sig whenever I can. Same with dloyak sig and watch yourself. There also on me at all times.

I tried out Racthoh's original build last night. Until now I was always using my own build with W/Me using physical resistance, conditions and Victory is Mine!
I'm not sure which is faster. With Racthoh's build I can definatly take down a spider in less time (excluding time spent healing) However with my build I almost never use healing signet. Also since I'm not at -40 armor for 2 seconds at a time I'm in less need of healing.
I guess it's about the same, although with my build I'm pushing less buttons. I have to admit though, that I love the flurry + 100 Blades + galrath/final combo.
Also with both builds I'm armored up to the max:
100 Base
16 Shield
+7 vs peircing on shield
+5 vs all on sword
+40 from Physical resistance/Dolyak
+20 from Watch Yourself!
Total 188
-2 stance in shield, -3 absorbtion, -2 from knights boots = -7 absorbtion.
I never, ever take any damage set up like this with Physical Resistance, since the stance is always up. Without the extra +7 on the shield I take 1's and 2's occasionally.
While using Dolyak + WY! and Healing Signet, I was taking big spikes, sometimes around 8 per hit.

Thanks -2 damage when in stance from my shield; with how often you're hit that's a lot less damage you'll be taking over time. Thing is, I can do the run faster now since the spiders can bunch up but won't do Healing Spring when they're standing next to each other. Makes things a lot easier.

what type of armor do you have? platemail is the best for damage reduction.

Nein, Glads armor for 80 + 20vs phy and the bonus energy is the better choice for spiders.
lambda the great
mmmk I have glads armor with sup abs and I was wondering if anyone know if Dolyak Signet and Physical resistance is enough for the spider? 0 dmg all the time?
Avarre
Racthoh takes next to nothing when fighting spiders, using dolyak signet and watch yourself. Phy res and Dolyak signet is overkill, 0 damage certainly... just means you'll have to split your stats more.
Racthoh
For someone who has never played the warrior profession at all, you seem to know an awful lot about us...
On top the two AL boosts, the -2 from the shield also helps... and knight's/ascalon... and absorption rune.

Was just wondering if a ranger/mes could do this run, or would their armour rating be too low (I would get about 115 pts of armour). The build i though of using was -
1.barrage
2.Troll urgent
3.Physical Resistance
4.Read the Wind
The last 4 skills i would play around with, as soon as we gett favor
The bow I was thinking of using was zealous shortbow of defense.

You actually only need very few points invested in inspiration for the resistance stances to be worthwhile. I take along Elemental Resistance for my spider runs so when I'm done, I can toy with a few shard wolves and head straight over to the forest. =)
Rhuobhe
If you used Greater Conflaguration(sp) with elemental resistance you could probably do it easily with a ranger. Although it would take longer to kill them since they are rangers also.
I don't know much about rangers though, all I'll say is that the run might be tough for you.
With only 70 armor vs physical, they will make quick work of you unless you buff up your armor.

Just tried this build, with my ranger, and knewn I was going to have trouble with the spiders when i got to the caves, see as those driftwoods wereing hiting me for about 15pts of dmge . Might try to see if i can get it to work if i switch my 2ndary profession to elem (was thking of earth armour buffs)

I tried you build out last night Racthoh and it worked great. I scored 3 shards and 2 rares on the run. I couldn't take the spiders all on at once in the begging and had to run and pull them out, but hey, was my first time there.

I have All Knights armor. With a major rune of absorbsion, major rune of vigor, sup rune of sword, minor rune of strength, and a minor rune of tactics.

Well, after an hour or so, I just read through most of this thing.... I have to say WOW! this is a great thread. I haven't had a chance to try this out yet, but once I get some of the required stuff... I'm definitely gonna give it a try

Knights does not enjoy the 100AL versus physical of glads, or 95AL v phy of platemail. The -damage boost doesn't stack, so you're better off with 1 knight's piece and full glads.

For the inspiration!
After running around in a blind panic the first time (going left instead of right) had never been in fow before.
I have cracked it 6 shards in one run today!
Tried various combos of axe\sword skills and ended up with:
Heal sig, physical res, watch y,100blades,sever,gal slash.wild blow and sprint.
worst thing: Net err 3 times today, with just 2 groups left at the end of the tunnel
Stands looking at obsidian key on floor as health drains away
P.s. how did you discover the tunnel was there?

My testing was from groups that would do the Restore the Temple of War quest that leads you to the end of the tunnel onto the beach. The whole path would be cleared, except for the spot where all the spiders would spawn. Most groups would always leave after doing that quest, so I was free to do as I wished.

Racthoh, thank you very much for sharing your awesome build. I finally managed to entirely clear out the cave with a slightly modified axe build . It's really fun! Much better than those boring Griffons/Trolls/Ice Imps, drop-wise and fun-wise . I got one shard, one nice gold bow, 21 corrosive spider legs, and a inventory full of blue junk. lol Thanks again for sharing your build it's incredibly fun. Keep up the good work .

This farm run is my primary source of income right now.
I don't remember who posted the build, but this is what I go with:
W/Me
Sever Artery
Gash
Galrath Slash/Final Thrust
Victory is Mine!
Watch Yourself
Physical Resistance
Heal signet
Sprint
I haven't died once using this build and it kills the spiders fast. If you encounter a group with 2 or 3 spiders piled on top of each other, it's just a simple matter of giving them all bleeding and switching targets at the right time. When they have bleeding on them, they'll use the combo: Apply poison, Melandru's Resilience and finally Healing Spring.
So just keep switching targets and you'll have 3 dead spiders in no time.
After the run I took on 3 Shadow Beasts. Just hit them once in a while and keep your health up. They sacrafice themself to 50% hp when you have killed one of them.
Also I've gotten 2 rubys on my last 2 runs and I'm up to 105 corrosive spider legs. Worth over 6k

How long did it take you to where you can get to the freaking cave 100% of the time? 1/5 or so times, I'll have the worst spawn ever (they actually get worse!) and I won't make it. I'm not really worried, I more than make up for it in the next run....but it irks me that I haven't gotten to where I can make it every time.
Bob Aeclucen
It took me 2-3 runs, until I figured out what to do with the Skales... Once I figured out where I could take breaks and aggro Driftwoods and Dryders without aggroing Skales, getting to the cave was easy. Keep trying, it's well worth the few k you use for your training. Drops are much better that Griffon drops and the run is 1000 times more fun.
Senator Tom
i run it with an axe and phys resistance, cause im lazy and like taking 0 damage
i noticed that if you stand right in the middle of a group of three or so, they dotn use healing spring. someone might've posted this, but i dont wanna go though 30 pages of posts

Once I realized the patrol paths of the Driftwood, I've never had a problem with the running.

How about you look up what the skills actually do before you criticise, Sparky?
Physical Resistance recharges in 20 seconds, always gives 40 armour vs physical and lasts for 30 seconds at Inspiration Magic 0. You don't need to put any points into IM to effectively use the skill for spider farming; thus, no stat splitting.

My main point of suggestion was that it was too much reduction. And pardon, no I didn't know phy res only needed a little... I despise the skill and never use it
How about you lose a little hostility? I wasn't criticizing, I was answering a posted question...

Hammer was odd since it was dmg 13%vs hexed armor pene 10/10 health +25. Was worth 480gold to merchant. You can guess what i did .
Also, you need to position yourself where the spiders you want to kill, you can hit each of them without moving. Once you move they will cast healing spring. Just hit the spiders once each time that are within your meele range, and only 1 of the spiders will cast heal spring. I didnt notice this until I swapped to sword, since cyclone axe did this for me automatically :P
