first of all, mad props to racthoh for both the build and the strategy behind this run.
like some other people, i tried an axe variant of the build. my skills and stats are as follows:
strength - 10 + 1 + 1
axe - 11 + 1
tactics - 10 +1
cyclone axe
cleave {e}
sprint
berserker stance (might switch this out for "i will survive")
"shield's up"
dolyak sig
"watch yourself"
healing sig
i was mostly just toying around with the build, but i have a reason for each skill on the skill bar. some are staples, but a few are choices of my own and notice that cleave is really my only attack. a couple of people have already tried other axe builds, so it works for them. i might tweak it a little more and try eviscerate, but i opted for cleave for spammability. just go with what you are comfortable with.
racthoh covered the basic strategy and most people seem to have the hang of it. i'll just post a few tips that i noticed during my run for those still struggling.
#1 - pulling spiders
a few people seem to be having trouble with this. what i noticed (especially at the tunnel entrance) is that you really don't have to pull all that much. as racthoh mentioned, the spiders should be barely tickling you and most of the damage comes from poison. thus, it doesn't matter if 3 or 20 are hitting you. the key is to single out a spider that has ventured off from the rest. if you interrupt its healing spring, none of the others can heal it.
from this ss, you can see that the spiders are wandering. they have split up, making them prime targets:
even in the middle of battle, constantly scan around for your next targets. this ss shows a strider's train of thought in the middle of battle:
so essentially, i also had a hard time pulling groups and decided to just rush in like a mad man. i wouldn't suggest it if you're not comfortable with the build, but if you're only taking 0-4 dmg per spider, rush in to take out single targets, then sprint out to heal when there are no more solitary spiders. it shouldn't matter how many there are.
#2 - dryders
the only damage they can do to you is through wastrel's worry, which they spam. the thing is, if you use a skill, it ends wastrel and you take no damage. you basically have to spam the skills on your skillbar. if you can end each wastrel with one of your skills, you will take no damage from them at all. spam whatever you have available. you will be preventing 50-60 damage. in the tunnel, i always ran in and took the dryder's out first while tanking the spiders, then took care of those the same way.
all in all, my first run was pretty good. i got a bit sidetracked in the beginning, but everything turned out ok.
also, favor pending, expect a hammer variant for the build up soon. i really want to see what i can do with my trusty hammer "elsie" down there.
