Any slow loading you are having is nothing compared to before they got the new servers.. we're all very lucky.

The main site loads slower, sometimes like 15 seconds when other things like MSN or Yahoo is about 3. Sometimes a thread will never stop loading so I can't see what the skill descriptions are until I press stop. D:

All right, turns out that this morning the back up process was stuck repeating. Should be resolved now.

glad things are moving again....I was having deja vu (yes I was around before the new servers etc....and it felt like I was back in that time!).

Over the last month or so every second time I log in to guru it either doesn't load, loses connection, or loads at slower than dial up speeds.
I'm in melbourne Australia, and I'd say from my observations it happens at least once every three hours.
It's happened to me now twice in the last 15 minutes or so; it's currently 11:03 Melbourne time.

I am finding it extremely slow these last few days, pages can take up to several minutes to load or will not load at all and I have to stop it and retry to connect to the page and I am on high speed cable.
I think maybe the server needs to be defragged because it seems like it can't find the information in needs to upload the page and is stuck searching for it.

I, too, have been having loads of troubles with the site...especially at about 7am eastern time.....this morning it took more than 13 minutes to load a page...it is not my browser or my connection (firefox...was able to load other sites while I was waiting for guru to load)...I did, however, update my firefox to 3.0.1 recently---but it isnt effecting any of the other sites I visit....
does seem to clear up a bit as the day goes on.

dang thing logged me out while I was typing a reply at 10am eastern (think that would be past the backup time), why does it do that....I only took about 3 minutes to type it out----then I get the log in again screen 
and then when I do log it---the path leads to invalid thread....good thing I have learned from this to copy what I type before I hit the post/review buttons!

runs like crap 80% of the time in IE7, FireFox 3, Opera, and Chrome.
it takes a lot to make Chrome run like crap.

Mozzilla 3.0 here. I have ususally loading problems for 15-20 min then it is fine then again issue then again fine and so on. I receive service unavailable error most of the times. No problems opening anything else. I usually got heavy lag when going to riverside or main forum index.

ok we've upgraded our ad server and backups will no longer cause downtimes as theyre now done on another server which runs our mysql replication. we'll also be optmizing the databases this week so things dont slow down. all in all the database server has plenty of juice and doesnt slow down, it just requires some software optimization tweaks to keep everything running smoothly.

Nice work. Since the big upgrade Guru has been performing quite well. Only some slownedd around the beginning of the afternoon. (GMT+1 western european time) Maybe that will be solved as well now the backup is changed.

we added in APC to improve PHP speed though that isnt really the bottleneck it helps, also caching the datastore which is really little but anyway looking to see if anyone has noticed any improvements this October.

Guru is working fine, as usual. Excpet for incidental glitches (Requested forum thread being offered as downloaded, timeouts) the forums generally work like a charm after the bug server update of a year (or so) ago.

Normal load-times per page is on the order of minutes. I usually hit a guru link, then open another window and surf on other sites for a few minutes, then check if the guru link has loaded.
And it's just Guru, no other site I visit is anywhere near as slow.
I tried blocking all ads from Guru, because sometimes sites can be slowed down by overloaded ad servers and/or broken ads, but it doesn't help Guru any.
Basically, whatever server park it is which hosts Guru, sucks.

Every forum page loads rediculously slow. I'm at work and we have several T1's. I know it's not my connection.

Still a bit slow for me, well compare to what it used to be. Page reload does help sometime, lost connection from time to time as well.

Yeah, much better. Load times are now typically 3-5 seconds, at least an order of magnitude better than how it was before you did whatever it was you did.
As an aside, most of the load time is spent "waiting for www.guildwarsguru.com", once connection is made the page loads very quickly.

Any Forum sections below Riverside seem to be going slower than the rest of the site. Not sure if it's actually doing that or if it's just bad timing with my browsing, but the loading times aren't being very consistent.
