Mystery in Augury Int. 1
Willy Rockwell
Someone help me understand what is happening here. International 1 at Augury Rock is always filled with Asians. They all say "shou" a lot, and there is constant communication in Asian.
None of them are forming groups (no dark blue) and there is a constant stream of them going out the portal.
Do they only use hench? Are they embarking on solo quests? Why do they come to Int. in the first place? And why Augury? I see this nowhere else.

They're farming griffons and minotaurs.
Sister Rosette
And more than likely most of them are bots.

Bots? What's that? and what does "shou" mean?
I'm going to try farming there, I'll report back.

"Bots" are automated programs that farm the griffons for them. They only have to sit there and watch over computers. I don't know "shou."

and a simple "search" came up with this...

Thanks for the link. A Chinese guy says "shou" is not a Chinese word, so these might be Koreans. It does seem they are trading, so Augury Int 1 might be a marketplace.
I tried farming alone and got my ass handed to me by minotaurs. I remember that place, its where I had to kill the gold minotaur to change my second prof.
Either they or going out with hench or bots, as you say. I still don't understand how you would make a farming bot.

ya they sell unidentified rare weps but Im sure they all tested them for mods that u can easily detect so u can be sure it doesnt give +30hp or something like that they sell those for alot more so most likely u will get a crappy rare from them
(i bought like 4 and all were crap, only for 1k tho )

they prob use good builds to farm them solo
Willy Rockwell
sorry for the stupid questions, but what the hell is a "scripted batch"?
You mean these guys use programming code to make farming robots?
You mean these guys use programming code to make farming robots?
Shimus DarkRaven
In essence, Yes. Plain and simple.
They run backround programs that program key movement, usage, skills and whatnot in a "Batch file" and then execute it, just sitting at the screen making sure nothing goes wrong when they farm. IE: Bots. Short for Robots. Automated programs. You get the idea.

well as i understand mandarin(chinese), i can tell u a few things on wat happen there,
that place is like a market for chinese players, (most of them is chinese, not many koreans). and i do believe some of them are farming bots, but most of them are just buying and selling gold items.
i think "shou" is "selling"
- edit -
btw, there is many rude player in that zone too, spamming "f**k ur mom" in chinese.

I got to be good friends with some of them too, but they haven't been online since the aoe patch (and the reason is pretty obvious).

The bots auto get the items, The Guys that hit you with the unids are working the items, I have spoken to a few who say "my boss will kill me if I sell to low". The gold made is then sold on websites for real cash. 1 million gold makes about 150 dollors £75 100 euros.
Its a buisness for the far east countries who pay a guy 1 dollor an hour to stay online selling the items

This thread has me dying...
Everyone is discussing these guys like they're some sort of rare breed of giraffe on Animal Planet...
"Observe the Asian in his natural habitat... here he is conversing in his native tongue... 'Asian'... he's probably being paid 1 dollar in some labor camp in the 'Far East' to farm for his slavemaster boss".
As a person who lives in Asia I can assure you people aren't playing computer games in concentration camps... and "Asian" is not a language.
They go to Int districts to sell to expand their market to the other servers. Simple.

Well said.
I visit Augury INT for getting weapon upgrades of ALL kinds cheap AND ( more important) quickly, without any long bargaining or getting called "roflwtfffs nooboffer" from some greedy player.
Yamat
You know, the thing that gets me is why have a bot say anything at all, 'cause, you know, doesn't that tell everyone you'e a bot when you spout inane dribble?
chuyangele
Just wondering do they sell stuff much cheaper than the normal price in American districts since they play a lot and have lots of loot?

However on the other hand, some players are angry that they can't sell their items for as much since the farmers / botters undercut them.
D.E.V.i.A.N.C.E
*southern accent* They took are jobs!
I like them, making american consumers quite happy.

And the AoE updated was an AI update - it wasn't aimed at farming, BUT tactics which relied on exploiting weaknesses in the AI no longer work. It's just sad that so many players apparently are unable to come up with a single viable tactic that isn't 100% based on exploiting weak AI.
And yeah, i was farming yesterday. Got me a nice green hammer.

I see at least 1 familiar name in that screenshot.. I was in UW with one of those monks. he was a 55hp monk. actually we were planning to go to FoW but when that monk joined our team he paid the entrance to UW... didnt even get a chance to say that we are going to FoW

If people pay 30K for a +30 health or or +15% >50 mod, when a +28 health, or +14% >50 can be had in Lions Arch for 1-5K, and a green item (which has 2 perfect upgrades) can be had for 5-10K, then they're either dumb or have way too much money.
It's not like the difference between 'perfect' and 'good' is even noticeable in PvE, and if they're going to do PvP (where it isn't noticeable either, but it's easier to kid oneself that it is), why don't they use PvP weapons?
But, sure, it's their money, they can waste it any way they want. Maybe I should try selling a couple of my upgrades.

1) 15>50 isn't a mod you can salvage or buy
2) Greens range from 1k to 170k, but any worthwhile green is on the upper end of the scale. Saying you can buy a green with two perfect mods for 5-10k is redundant. It's like saying I can buy a blue with two perfect mods for 1k. Greens do not compete with golds in the area of flexibility.
3) Of course there's no playable difference between +28hp and +30hp, but +30hp is for collectors hence the hefty price tag.
Numa Pompilius either:
A) Is on the Europe realm.
B) Doesn't trade.
C) Both.
I don't play PvP, therefore you don't hear me spouting off nonsense about why some builds should or should not work.
