Without mentioning scammers it should be a very good idea. The editing ur looks to, my warrior looks way to pale! Have like a npc barber in town and cut ur hair for 5k. Maybe having a limited amount of changes. Just like the changing territory, 5 times. Might bug so now and then with people keep on changing their names.. like ppl making new char's and the name's already taken when a sec l8a it's changed.

i want this option. i have played on my monk for over 600 hours. i mispelled priestess and am stuck with preistess forever.

would be nice to be able to change the template after the character is made. maybe not their facial structure the rest is more realistic.

Am I the only one who's read the developer's comments on this subject? Let me paraphrase them for you: "We're not doing it." I believe I read it in one of the Fansite Fridays. They said reputation was the reason. I suspect it's technical work as well.

I think what MSecorsky said is right. Everything in the game seems to reference you by your character's name. Your guild membership, your /whisper, your targeting, and probably everything else, like how the system knows to send a message put in All chat to you. Your name is like your social security number (or social insurance number for us Canadians), except even more important. A change like this probably affects thousands upon thousands of lines of code.

This sort of suggestion has come up in other online games and the developers usually say, "that's not going to be technically possible."

i really dont see the name change as a big issue..makes it too easy for people to just randomly change their names like it was underwear..Names are important. Maybe people ought to put more thought into it instead of spastically puking one

It's technically possible because they already give people who's name has been deemed offensive the option to rename. And just about everything else in your post is incorrect.

The ability to change the name of your characters in Guild Wars is a feature that we are considering as an addition to the game, but is not an option at this time. (The only exceptions to this are characters with names that violate our User Agreement or Rules of Conduct. Such characters must be renamed by their players with an automated name violations tool, or the character must be deleted.)

If a name-change feature is something you would like to see as part of the Guild Wars service, then we encourage you to share your suggestions on one of the many Guild Wars fansite message boards.

This does not have to be a problem. It would be easy for your Ignore list to simply update with the new name, much like your Guild updates with each new Character you create.

Your friends list could also auto. update with new name.

Also, in the interest of knowing who's who, when you Mouse over their name, it could say "Formerly so-and-so." This would resolve any scammer issues.

I have yet to hear any decent argument against this.

Some of you have played Runescape too much. A barber in town...lol...That idea is better than the name changing one I guess. The names should stay, changing your characters looks, well...you should have put more thought into it before making a character really. The problem here is people want instant gratification, and life isnt that way...sorry

I would love to have the option of changing my characters name, however, I do believe that there should be some sort of limit to it. I dont think you should be able to do it as much as you want. How this would be implemented wouldnt really matter, as long as there is some deterent that would keep people from changing it as they please.
As far as names on the friends list or ignore list, they already have somewhat of a system set up. For example, my friend recently deleted his character and started with a new one. I had his old name in my list, and it still showed up as this name, with his new name in parethesis next to it. Why would it now work like this if they were to implement name changes? Same goes for people using a different character on the same account.
Going way back to the way characters look, I thought it would be interesting if your character looked differently according to which combo of primary and secondary they had chosen. Maybe even have some armor that is say, specific to me/mo. Or if someone is a W/N they may look a little more evil than if they were a W/M.
I thought it would be cool to tell what someones secondary was just by looking at them.

At this time I'd be willing to pay 100k to change the name of one of my characters. I originally made the character with the intention of leaving it in pre-searing as a guild recruiter, gave it a stupid name and then enjoyed playing with it so much I'm now at the stage where I want to put it in FoW armor (but not with the stupid name).

I personally like the idea of name changing. (I had to delete one character because I didn't like the name) There should however be a limted amount of changes (1 or 2, no more) to prevent abuse and confusion. An ingame fee would also be appropriate.
