I've mentioned that earlier. Ideally, your 2 weapon sets should be : Sword/Axe with enchant mod | -50 hp focus Illusion cane | -50 hp focus This way you can clear nightmares from a distance, which helps prevent spawning a second one when you go to the location of the first one. Preferably do not use a staff, as by keeping the -50 focus on you can take down the nightmares even with 3 aatxes on you (removing the focus makes you take double damage from them, 105/10 or 88/10 with deepwound). Do stats matter on the sword other than the enchantment mod?

not at all. your dmg output for IW is determined by your attribute points in illusion magic.

I have used this build quite a lot myself recently to make some cash - been using my friend as spiteful spirit necro, sv back up and as another drainer and quite often we've cleared out the entire frozen wastelands - excellent build in my opinion, thanks for sharing, you have made me rich

If those new candy weapons can be modded, then Im going for a candy sword +20% enchant

on a random, somewhat ontopicy note, has the chapter 2 weaponry been confirmed? If not, well, it stands to reason that the assassin might have high-speed lighter weapons, maybe that will help with IW attackspeed if we use them? IW could use the upgrade, it's far too underused. Update : The build can handle groups of 3 coldfires after all, just stay out of the maelstroms ethix
how is it that i only have 105 hp, when you're supposed to have 55? I'm using all mesmer sup runes, and am still coming up shy. How much hp am i supposed to have and what am i forgetting?

There's a quest you get from a guy named Symon the Scribe in Ascalon City called Cities of Ascalon which gives as it's reward an offhand item which gives -50 health. To be able to do this quest you need to have up to Ruins of Surmia done in missions (Not including Ruins of Surmia itself, although part of the quest can only be completed inside the mission so you'll be completing it as part of this quest basically) and have completed the first quest that he gave you.
If you've done it with your main character and sold the off-hand item, don't sweat it, it's pretty easy to start a new character and get them up to that mission, I started last night and now my Ranger has almost finished this quest. Basically you have to find the ruins of Surmia (Found in the Ruins of Surmia mission), Nolani (IIRC found in the Nolani Academy mission, but I'm not sure about that yet as I'm not there yet) and King's Watch (In Regent Valley, pretty easy to find). EDIT: Also, you have to use 5 Superior Runes, you should have a doubler of one of your runes which will only give you the bonus once but the health penalty twice. ethix
thx bro, wondering if there was a quest that gave u the offhand

Also what do you think is faster invinci mes/SS.SV Necro or invinci monk/ SS.SV Necro with a SS/SV necro (or mesmer/nec) you can have double SV's, makes smites a little easier since they will NEVER recover energy before dying. On the other hand, you can just have SV necro not bring SV... usually i duo with another mesmer friend (Me/N). I prefer for them to bring at least one interrupt (high-dom powerspike is good) to help handle nightmares, since i can only interrupt one myself. Also, it helps stop maelstroms since again, i can only interrupt one myself. Will be faster with mes + IW due to extra damage, but on the other hand you don't get spellbreaker, meaning it is much harder to fight coldfires / many nightmares. Terrorwebs are also out of the question too therefore. Plus, no divine favor means you're only getting healed by regen, so the number of things you can tank is 5 max generally. Id say the traditional duo-pair (i play a SS/SV nec with a guildie Imonk somtimes) is faster and more efficient, and also at less risk of death (Imonk can get bonetti's to help with energy too..) Edit : Nolani ruins are found just outside nolani, up a big set of stairs to the northwest. Lotsa gargoyles there. Only the surmia ruin is inside a mission. Bum Shizzle

And yes, this is based on having all 200 att points.

What Vaga said really... any place with a few big monsters and not many remove enchant/degen enemies is good.

Nice Vid-Build!!!!!

In the vid i see you do it a few times with the arrow and the i see it recast at the right time without you or the arrow doing it.. How you doing that? key Binding? I must know!!!!! 5 + 3 Fast casting | 12 + 3 + 1 Illusion 2 + 3 Inspiration 9 Healing Prayers (+7 breeze, +3 mending) 8 Protection Prayers (15s spirit) Also this might be a stupid question but is 12 the base stats, and the 3 + 1 illusion are the bonuses from the items? If I may, could I see a screenshot of the gear you're using. Thanks. Two April Mornings

Well if its just me and my eyes are messing with me then sry But if im seeing right plz tell Thanks Its an automatic key binding (you dont have to do anything), see the small numbers in the bottom right corner of each skill. You should, those stand for the 1-8 numerical keys on your keyboard (right above the letters you should be typing with). You can subsitute mouse clicking for these numbers, however as you see on the video when you use both the mouse and the numbers to use skills, amazng things can happen. And to the creater of this Mes/Mo build, I congradulate you. Before AOE was nerfed I made a Mo/Mes build, but that has currently gone by the wayside. Nice Build! Avarre

If I may, could I see a screenshot of the gear you're using. Thanks. Yes, thats 12 base + 1 mask + 3 rune. My equip: Droknar's Illusion Mask + Super illu rune Desert Collector Attire + Super insp rune Desert Collector Gloves + Super dom rune Desert Collector Hose + Super illu rune Desert Collector Boots + Super fast rune (all 60AL on the above) Icy Dragon Sword of enchanting +18% Grim Cesta -50 hp And yes, on the vid i sometimes click with mouse, sometimes use the 1-8 keybindings. Well, gave this build a shot today... very nice. I just need to work on my accuracy a bit... I keep failing out of UW by hitting Breeze when I need Prot Spirit... DOH! I've lost 3 plat doing that...
Farming Hydras, though, has yielded nice results... griffins I get weak drops from, but that's nothing new. And it's certainly fun to mention the accomplishments on Guild Chat... "I just soloed UW!" "Cool?" "I'm a mesmer!" "Oh... wow..." Very nice build. For creating a soloing mesmer, you are my hero. Astral Design
This is probibly a noob question but could you tell me where to far... er .. Hunt Hydras? I have been running trolls and Griffins with my W/Mo and its getting a bit boring.
Avarre
Just outside the north exit of Augury rock, you'll find hydras in groups of 1-3 that wander around. If farming them with my build, swap power leak for mantra of flame. (helps give some extra energy)
Tarot Ribos
Avarre: actually, I've found swapping out Mending for Mantra of Flame is more effective... Meteor is still annoying to deal with. And you don't really need Mending if you keep Breeze up. As said in the original post, Mending is there to counteract the bleeding the Aatxes inflict. Since Hydras don't inflict bleeding, Mending just eats more energy.
Oh, and on a different note... has anyone else tried Nolani Academy with this build? It's actually kind of hard. Well, with 15 AL from Ascalon, anyways. (Yeah, I'm cheap like that.) But hey, the chaos is fun. popserias
Awesome work
I only got slight energy problems, if there is only one mob left. I start with 37 + 3 from offhand-item when enchanted and 1 regeneration pip cause of the 3 enchantments. (Well, i have some messed up armor-combination ) And I have a question: What's the name of the band/song used in the demonstration-video? Avarre

With one enemy left, just make sure you constantly attack it and the +2 per time your hit, +1 from ripostes and 1 pip of regen is enough to allow you to finish off a single enemy, just make sure you renew enchants as late as possible (without letting prot spirit down). There really is no reason to use any armor other than full enchanters for a 55 build, just as with a 55 monk using all tats. Armor isn't a factor.

Your energy is renewable, so max energy isn't really that much of a consideration. The only time energy comes close to being a trouble is when you recast IW versus 1 aatxe, and if you're not spamming spirit/breeze (waiting to renew when nearly out), even that isn't a problem. Enchanter just helps reduce the margin for error.
I used ascalon because I'm cheap, then moved to desert collector. No reason to spend extra money on armor Armor isn't a factor, unless you're using Ascalon (then the nightmares 1-hit you without spirit, with 60AL you can take a hit ) explicytcontent
I love this build but since im new, what armor do i buy from droks??
Also, when do i put the 5 sup runes on (What Level)?? Also, do i really need a %18+enchantment sword for this to work??? explicytcontent
I love this build because i love mesmers. But im new to this so i need to know, what armor in droks do i buy??
Also, once i get my 5 sup runes for mesmers, when do i add them to my armor?? Avarre
Enchanter Armor is the best to use, but you can use ANY armor and this will work (preferable not rogue's set however, the -energy doesn't help). If you're new, as you say, it's better to get a set of desert collector's, as you'll need 2 sets of armor (normal gear, and 5 super rune gear). Once you have a spare set of armor, you can apply the runes to that.

I run with a 14% sword that I stole from a friend because I couldn't be bothered standing around spamming WTB and wanted to test the build out but as a European you never know when you're going to lose favour so I had to hurry. It worked fine for me and in all honesty I've never even bothered looking for an improvement since it serves me perfectly well. Something of around 15%+ shouldn't cost you too much anyway, especially since people will likely take less money if it's still attached to a (Sub perfect) sword since they'd rather be guaranteed of less money than have an uncertain (Salvaging for the upgrade) chance at more money and since the swords stats don't matter for you... Queto
Man I love this buil! I bought all the junk I needed for it: Enchantment AXE (eat that, sword users), -50hp item and armor with sup runes on it. I died because of the nightmares twice now First time I didn't have Prot spirit on and he killed me in 2 shots. Second time, I killed a nightmare, walked a litte further and two more spawned...

Yeah the double-spawn is impossible to survive with aatxes on you... fortunately usually there is only a doublespawn in the middle, and using a bow you can pull the aatxes safely. Just keep spirit up when nightmares arrive, versus two just powerdrain one and begin wanding it (or bow if you dont have a wand, just slower). Rend will kill the second, recast prot spirit and finish off the first.
A long/storm bow is quite handy for pulling aatxes back... usually the only time I die to nightmares now is when they spawn on the stairs, aggroing aatxes before im ready or when they spawn in the smite area alongside 5 smites (too many things hitting meee). Imho the hardest part of the run is the first pack of aatxes. Once you've cleared the top of the stairs on both sides, you're pretty much there. Only other way to die is accidentally aggroing 2 packs of nightmares (you cant survive that either, 5 mobs is kinda the max you can hold, and with 7 your spells get disrupted much more often). Tarot Ribos
Avarre: Thanks for the hint there on the double-nightmare spawn. That's been killing me a number of times now. I just panic when I see them, and they proceed to kill me.
Status Update on use: The build is awesome for taking out hydras... so I've been wasting my time there, mainly. I'm also working on getting my Desert Collector's Armor (again, too cheap to go for Enchanters), so that the Nightmares won't 1-hit kill me. So... very little has happened to me on the way of UW runs. Oh, and had a blast with this in GvG as a Suicidal lamb for Minion Masters. Okay, BiP may be more efficient for saccing there, but it's great fun confusing the opposing team, then getting ressed with 0 HP. Over, and over, and over... We actually won a couple of matches that way. Of course, this was the night where the ladder was locked, so none of it counted (hence, my whimsical choice of GvG builds). |
