I got 2 of them last night. the trader is where the map shows him to be (guildwiki map). Hold down alt when you get close you will see him.

Some people said that the collector for FFS appears only when America has favor. That's BS. I found him when we DIDNT have favor. I did 3 runs unsuccessfully, and on the 4th, there he was, standing right where people said he would be. It's just a random spawn. Also, I disagree that the FFS is better than HoD sword. People who cant afford HoD say that, to make themselves feel better. The FFS is a very good item, and it is almost as good. But it is NOT better than HoD.
I'd never sell my 20% HoD sword for less than a million. Dont care what anyone says.

Explain how +5 energy, especially on builds that are 100% energy balanced such as 55hp builds, is more powerful than 10% spell recharge chance.
Racthoh
If your energy never drops below 5 then you don't need an HoD. I use my FFS for the 20% enchanting, and my Nolani wand for my +5 energy on another weapon set (which I rarely use in PvE, more for PvP).
That extra 5 energy isn't going to do jack for a monk. What enchantment can you cast for 5 energy, that would save you if it's your LAST 5 energy. Because until you need that 5 energy there is no reason to have it open for draining.

If people think the FFS is better than the HOD sword, it raises the question
Why did they nerf the HOD sword but leave the FFS in the game?

Why did they nerf the HOD sword but leave the FFS in the game? I thought it was because of the IW build, but I might be wrong. Anway, I have both and have used both with my monk, and to be honest, there isn't that much difference. Hell, I was fine with a droks weaponsmith axe and a 20% enchant mod for a LONG time. Those that are good at solo monking and can manage their energy don't "need" either, and anyone that has either/or item should be happy they have one of them. And if you have both, my suggestion is to put +20% enchants on both of them and try them out. Personally, I like the FFS better but that's because I personally don't have problems managing my energy. I find that the HoD is a much better fit for my Mesmer.
There is a third option...setup three weaponsets for solo monking lmfao.
1) wand/cesta (for wanding pesky nightmares mostly)
2) FFS/cesta (for invinci monking while energy is above 50%)
3) HoD/cesta (for when energy dips below 50%)
I call that a win/win and solves this stupid debate on which is better

I think the HoD got nerfed because it adds 5e AND was at/near max dmg (don't really know cuz I am to poor to own one), but the FFS/Nolani wand have not been nerfed because they have limitations that make it a trade off if you want to use the weapon. Pretty much in line with Anet's stance on balance.
c4sped
hod got nerfed b/c it alowed you to have +5 energy and +20%/+30 health in one item this one item + a 20/20 focus would be better than any staff in the game thats just uncool.

Can someone without a warrior profession use this fiery flame bitter?

Now i know that the HoD sword wasnt just the +5 energy everyone wanted
but i do have a kind of alternative that i've been using for a while that you
can get straight outside serenity temple for 3 stormy eyes!
It's only +5 energy but it does come in handy when u need that little bit extra.

Actually the Nolani wand gives +5 energy unconditionally for 3 charr carvings (might be 5). A better alternative.

FFS is 100x better, i have never had problems with energy... *See "Blessed Signet" *, however when a troll does disrupting chop during HB and you are relying on the divine favor + from prot spirit the 10% recharge REALLY comes in handy, because: 1) Theres chance cast time lowered to 2 seconds for prot spirit which menas you can cast 2 and set AOE nerf to work and run away till HB is recharged.
or
2) Lowers HB recharge time after interrupt.
It has saved me countless times. Literally.
HOD = +5 energy = useless to me.

Do you need to have 3 in axe mastery to get the full 10% on skill recharge or does it not matter at all.

How about my question?
If I dont have warrior as one of my profession.
Can I use the axe to deal damage with?
I know I can, but it wouldn't be 6-16 dmg.
Does anyone know what the dmg would be?

Does anyone know what the dmg would be? My monk does like... 1-2 damage, the occasional 3.

Yea I just tested it out. With a customized Flame Spitter.
The axe sux for damage dealing. I'll stick with my wand.

It's 3 just picked 1 up today
and I do believe the FFS is a lot better, mostly because it's a more affordable alternative to such an expensive thing, but just in case A-net hits it with the Nerf bat I got 14of em =P

I have a 55 Necro.
While I'm waiting for SS to recharge or Im waiting for my energy to regenerate. I deal damage using my wand any where from 15-21 dmg sometimes why higher depending on the lvl of the monster/monsters. With the Flame Spitter
I couldn't deal hardly any dmg.
Maybe around 1-4 dmg which isn't much.

Is there even a market for the FFS? I picked up two from the collector just to see if I could find him and see what all the fuss was about. Now I've got these two axes that are actually kind of worthless to me, but someone may want them. They were easy to get so I'm thinking they can't be worth that much as far as selling them.
striderkaaru
umm... why are people trying to do damage with the ffs? and it's only worthless if you don't use spells and enchants. try to find another 1-handed weapon with 10% universal spell recharge and the ability to take a 20% enchant grip.
Yichi
Its funny. so any people forget one of the best monk wands in the agme and u get it free in a quest reward from yaks bend. So many people dont want it because its not max dmg, but it does give you 10% skill recharge and +3 energy over 50%. my monks used this as her main wand throughout the game. as much as i find weapons that i like or could use, i always end up comming back to thsi wand.

i use that wand for my monk now, too. thanks for showing it to me. =)

I didn't say they're worthless. I said, they're "worthless to me." I just want to know if it's worth the effort to sell them to other players, or do I just unload them to the merchant?

very handy wand isnt it?
Simdarth
Sounds like a good weapon to use in a second or third weaponset on a caster character especially nec or monk who have to step back every once in a while to throw around enchants and other spells. I may have to go pick up a few tonight.
I could also see a market for areas like Asc city, yaks bend or lions arch to sell to lower level people. Something like 1 or 2k apiece. You could feasibly get quite a few and move them that way. More if you mod them.

But you can't add a +20% enchant mod to a wand
I would take a boring ole clean axe with +20% enchant over the above wand as a 55 monk.

I use the FFS with 20% ench too for my 55 monk (needs to be lvl 20 first
)
If you don't use enchantments of which the length doesn't care, I would use the wand also.

Anybody got an FFS? I tried looking for the collector 4 times but he never spawned there. I looked when we had the favor and when we didn't have it.

The 10% Fiery Flame Spitter is indeed great for 55HP Monking and the best thing for IW Mesmers (I prefer Axe in he first place, I love swinging a Cyclone Axe with IW), but there's about where it ends.
The 15% Fiery Flame Spitter on the other hand is very great in my opinion. 10% global skill recharge is 20% if you're using skills of 2 attributes, nice, but I doubt there's any build that has one attribute that doesn't need the recharge harder then the other, on the other hand, a 20% specific skill recharge is always better. 15% skill recharge on the other hand, is 30% skill recharge if you're using skills of 2 attributes, which simply is better when you don't really care about which attribute gets the recharge time. I never care about any wand (and focus) mods except the skill recharge, and this 15% global skill recharge definitly fits my build, and I can always add a nice second mod.

I have heard other rumors that you have to be alone for the collector to appear.
