There seems to be alot of confusion on when and how this collector spawns...so, I ran an experiment. I was always alone, I tried with no quests up and both with favor and without...10 runs and never once did he spawn. I then tried taking the quest right outside the outpost...the one where Devona will follow you, I ran and left her behind and on the first try he was there, so I zoned back to the outpost and tried again, he was once again there, I tried a third time and again the collector spawned. So, I guess it is still not for sure, but for me it all changed as soon as I took that quest. As a side note, I never remembered or just didn't notice before, but after the quest is taken there are far more of those hulking elementals or w/e they are called around the crater area...before the quest was taken there were only those floaty dudes hovering around, might be just coincidence but those hulking guys do drop the lodestones that the collector requires.

He almost always spawns for me. I can only remember 2 or 3 times he hasn't been there. When he didn't, I'd teleport back to town and fight back down to him and he'd be there. I've done it with and without quests. Maybe I've just been lucky.

Well, so much for my theory,lol, I guess I will chalk it up to completely random then...wow, I was unlucky at first...10 runs with no spawn

It's my experience that there are simply multiple spawn sets for that area. Sometimes he is there, sometimes not. I just farmed lodestones and got as many axes as i could when he showed. Just sell off the rest if you dont feel like collecting them. Monks in Ascalon will usually spend 500-1k on them if you like being fair

I guess so, 6-16 doesn't really make up for the -5% debuff though :P
EDIT: ANet is funny when it comes to tradeoffs for debuffing things
Like when they nerfed all the SoA axes, they turned them from the crappy battlepick skin to the not-so-bad axe hatchet skin

Does anybody have a price estimate on what the 15% flame spitter would go for? I expected that since it is about 10-100 times rarer than the HoD sword it would at least go for 1 Million, with the HoD sword going for about 350k right now.
I've always wanted the 15% but I've never found anybody who had it. For now the 10% does fine though.

I've sold quite a few for 1k - mostly to farming monks in Augury. *chuckles* I figgure most of the other collectors items sell for similar, and you're mostly paying for the time it takes to run down there. I can't see paying any more for it though...

I just want people to know that there are quite a few people trying to make a profit off of selling these as the ULTIMATE HoD sword alternative. Truly, it is not a bad axe and a cheap alternative.

A decent axe if you can't afford the HoD sword. But the real problem is people say this is so useful and a uber item. Truth is, it IS a nice alternative, but it IS a collector's item.
Where you can get it: Outside Serenity Temple, in Pockmark Flats there is a collector named Nicanor Gannel. He wants 3 Scorched Lodestones. See attachment for exact location. Kill some Rock (or Stone, I forget) Golems on the way and you'll have 3 Scorched Lodestones in no time (probably a lot more).
*Note he may not always be there for some ODD reason. It doesn't depend on whether your territory has favor or not, just an odd glitch. Also, if the map attachment doesn't work, there is one on GuildWiki, just search for Nicanor Gannel under collectors, which is under the weapons page.
People sell these for like 1.5k a pop on GWG Auctions, but it worth FAR less for those who are conservative with your money. If you're liberal about it, buy it for 1.5k and save your time, but it is worth it for those who want it but are under a budget constraint.

You can sell them for more than 1k, i found some guy in ascalon asking people what is the best way to make gold. I traded him 10 FFS and told him to go sell them for 10k each and give me half of what he makes and i will give him 10 more . 20 min laters he told me he had 50k for me never saw him after that not suprised he probably found out where to get them and cut out the middle man and make a bigger profit.

Pardon my ignorance, but why is the newest version of the FFS still considered a good weapon for 55 monks? Is it soley for the 10% chance of half skill recharge? Or is there some hidden mod I'm not seeing? I'm currently using the collectors Flame Wand with +5 energy and several other blue mods. Obviously older versions are better but those have probably skyrocketed in price. Is the 10% or 15% longer enchantment FFS still being traded away from collectors?

You are getting 10% recharge but you can also add a +20% enchatments mod to it, making it great for any 55hp monks. I prefer it too a HoD sword as i never go below 50% energy anyways, so how would i benefit from a HoD sword?

HoD sword is popular cause it has been "removed" therefore its "awesome" and people always want the 1 thing alot of people don't have or can't get anywhere. Its a mentality thing.

IMO, FFS > HoD because 5 energy isn't all that useful. I would much rather have the recharge on my spellbreaker/shield of judgement.

It all depends on where you solo, generally I can kill an entire mob with one SoJ... period..
Lets talk about "hard" parts of the game... your 10% recharge isn't gonna mean S H I T in the ONLY place it matters UW....and the ONLY time I would even need to cast a 2nd spell breaker would be in the chaos planes (when I don't have a support monk running echo spell breaker).... you better belive that +5 energy is way more important here then a 10% recharge on SB... mainy because you're gonna be praying that you have enough energy for prot spirit (again unless you have a support monk running echo spell breaker, but if you don't then its all about energy management).

I think if a "noob" calls you the noob for selling a weapon at the price it's supposed to be at or even lower , they are the noob, just ignore them and they will go away, just like traveling salesman or old girlfriends you don't want to talk to or even ignore them, i hate when a "true noob" calls you a noob because they are bored im just saying this because some people need a little more help getting rid of annoying pests that like getting on your nerves, i've had a noob pming me saying "why are you selling that max dmg sword at such a low price when you can get much more for it "i said once that i dont need the money and some people need the sword more then i need the money, or u can just press {N} on your keyboard and you can "go offline" for a while like 10 mins and the person will probly leave you alone. I'm glad if i helped you or if i haven't and if this makes no sense im sorry.
