Well, Gaile came by around 1 in the morning last night and hinted strongly that the winter update would be starting in a few hours (right around when people were getting the first IDS drops). It's too much of a coincidence to be otherwise... I mean, winter update? Icy sword?
In any case, this blows the Halloween collector items out of the water- can't wait to see what else they've got in store for us.

Hi everyone. I'm one of the people that spent time farming for these with Argent Silvermane (that's my little monk in the center of his screenshot). I thought you should know that the item is not rare and is not a holiday special. Apparently, a gamer convinced people that the IDS existed when it did not. This little hoax wreaked so much havoc that ArenaNet decided to create one (which is pretty cool imho).
It can be modded with an item that has a suffix (like the FDS), drops in front of and within the Lyssa cave (Avicara to Ice Beast).
Oh, 15%>50.

I expect them to be about 5k by tommrow night, and probably 1k after that. If they continue to be farmed like they are, and dont get any rarer. Right now their really semi-common.

Went there as a solo farmer using my W/Me build, and cleared out all but two Ice Imps(those damn Shadows overwhelmed me). Got nothing outta that run. =/ So instead, I went with a 5-man PuG as a healing monk and lo and behold, an IDS!

On my last run, I encountered a group of about 20 imps. Spent a good bit of time trying to clear the area to find, yep, nothing I guess I'll try my 5th run soon, but I'm wearing out a bit
Getting there just to have an unsuccessful run is a bit disheartening after the fourth time.

Effectivly an axe version of the build Racthoh had. I ran past everything, fighting only Imps. If I go again, I think I'd like to try swaping out Zerker's and Flurry for Elemental Resistance, along with some other attack skill.

I don't understand why so many people are doubting it's existence. EVERYONE has one.....NO it is not a collector item, yes it is a drop from an Ice Imp, and a VERY common one. I went out on a quick run to grab myself one and 5 dropped, and NO ONE sell for 1,000,000 Gp...STUPIDITY....its as common as a regular fiery dragon sword if not more.

Since ALL the IDS drops are blue(white) with perfect mod, this is a glitch and an update should correct/delete the mod if the devs care about the economy in this game; OR it`s meant to be a collector item once the Christmas update goes live.

i'm just pondering here, but if they drop from Ice Imps, then is it possible to have them drop in different locations? like Grenth's Footprint, or the Ice Caves of Sorrow?
