There is a AoE circle in WoW for certain spells... maybe your are confusing WoW with gw because I don't remember that mechanic.

I despise the bonus for that mission.. In fact I think that it was the bonus that gave me the most trouble when trying to obtain protector...

I chose Kurzick because I prefer their armor and because I have already donated quite a lot of faction...
