I would say your monitor is going bad then, I've never had one do that before. And if you turn it off and on the picture comes back? What kind...

Could be a system resources issue if you have many other programs running at once. Sounds more like a lag issue to me though, if your system specs...

Sounds like your vid card is having problems interacting with your monitor's standby state. Maybe look at getting a better monitor or turn off...
