Dye Combo is Blue + Silver (on both armor and shields) Chaos Gloves are Blue Best I could get. Hope it helps
All professions are effective imo, always if used correctly.
I'd go with prophecies first, slowest learning curve and not too hard on new players.

Personally I'd go with Recurve, Long and Flat Bows in PvE, I see hornbows more of a pvp bow type.
