All of Nightfall has mobs that spike. The precision of AI coordination > human reaction, so it's not exactly something I think should be...

And you can find her cape later on. This is old news since about day 1 of release (maybe it was even in Beta? I don't recall).

I actually like how it looks. It's better than all the scimitar looks of everything else in Nightfall, and it's better than the shield.
