Guild Wars Taught Me About Being a Woman
Seban Anu
All of my charries are fem (as I am).. I dont usually have this problem, and certainly not when I afk. Maybe thats because I dont afk all that often in public places and such, but whatever. Or maybe its just because my characters dont tend to be that attractive/pretty/whatever to anyone but myself, whatever,..
When I do have obnoxious immature people harassing my characters or me, its usually because I was talking in local chat and attention was drawn.
Of course this thread has made me feel somewhat guilty, Ive pulled a few rather obnoxious things in local channels and stalked people in LA when extreamly bored before... .. Mm, randomly hugged people too. I met some of my friends because a random person hugged me, and I dont mind having my character stalked if someones just playing around.. wammos annoy me however because of the .. animations, and when people start sending you messages of those sort its waaaay past any sort of 'just having fun' line, for me.

i was standing in great temple of balth, just being afk, with a female assasin btw.
and this elementalist came along and started hugging me.
at first my reaction wa ok if a pervy little teenager wants to do "things" while i eat fine by me.
as soon as this happened he said "u want to suck" "u want to suck me"?
i changed districts and came back later to the same district i had only been there for about a min when he appeared and started acting like a perv again.
tbh i think i have a Guild Wars bound stalker :P.

So you see, guys do experience it too(since I am not particularly good-looking I assume it happens to other guys as well). Not as often as girls though, that is true. Girls can't afford to be as aggressive as guys, because if they try to force something I will slap them silly. And physical fight is a fight they will lose.
Dark Dragon
Happened to my female ele once. I was pretty ligth hearted about it
just said on local chat "100g to the person who can hand me "name's" severed head" and then "once we get the head who wants to join me in a football match"
that made the person run
hehe

Sigh, after having crafted the perfect female mesmer armour in black (it's a mix of sets I partially took from someone else and chose a few peices on my own, if you want to see it pm me and bring a non-W/Mo) it's REALLY annoying to have people literally stop while walking, oggle you and then keep going, or send a pm to me. I have 6 people on my ignore list because they couldn't stop, one guy for months. MONTHS!
When I see another person with nice looking armour, I complement them on it. Not with 'nce armr hawtbabe dnce for me k' but with 'Very nice armour, what kind is it?" and usually I get a nice complement back
I am male btw, but I really don't like male figures (warriors especially). I was going to make a male ranger, the only one which appealed to me (hold your bows upright girls!) but I already have a ranger with 15k druids and a bunch (see: 12) customized bows. Not to mention the 400+ hours I've put in to do almost everything, the exploring, the bonuses etc. etc.
To the guy who posted the thing about logging out, I should not have to leave a game I paid for because of someone else, ever. I shouldn't even have to change districts or run away or anything. The warrior certainly has one /dance that should be changed.

Easiest way to solve the wammo problem, exchange then male warrior dance with the male mesmer dance.
Maria The Princess
i NEVER leave my poor ranger or ele sitting down....... everytime before, i was finding a few wammos *cough* dancing on her face
and yes, guys ARE like that but not as extreme

Which is why I go afk in the Guild Hall instead, can't take the chance that my defenseless warrior might get gangbanged by some random whammo.

"Guild wars taught me to be a women"
It's fashion, "the more revealing the outfit the better" Like other games Guild wars seems to try and use female characters as a way to create sex appeal, which surprise, surprise is obviously working going by this thread.
I'm a male and I play a male character as I prefer not to play some skimpy Wannabe hotty, I was a little disappointed at how much more skin customizations females had to chose from then most of the male professions.
EXAMPLE Male mesmer and male elementalist, compare those 2 to female.
It’s a no brainer that the next chapter will have some hot chick, as the wammos say
On the front cover as it clearly is the way to sell games/cartoons and how most females tend to dress.
I mean you guys remember what happened in final fantasy 10 (2) example of when it goes to far, people will stick up for the game because they were turned on my some piece of data. It’s like when a popular cartoon animie series comes out you can never find anything but any of the female characters.
So you people wonder why young boys get turned on my data, it’s because its in most males instinct. You girls always whinge about how guys get so horney, and most females try to make the point: "all guys think about is"....... . Like I tell many females, if it annoys you so much then stop supplying the Material.
Its guaranteed the more revealing the female profession the more players you will see playing it.

If people dont wanto be treated in a way percieved to be rude and crass then they should obviously stop dressing in that fashion.
I find it a giggle when females wear practically nothing and shove their head up in disgust when A guy looks at them and whistles, Ive been told apparently that is rude gesture.
To keep on topic what do you guys think the most played female proffesion is?
I would say female elementalist.
And another question, why do males play female characters?
Its the sex appeal right?
Samify can I join your guild?
Cebe
I think female elementalist is fairly well played, yeah, but it's hard to tell really...
I am male and have a female elementalist, and I don't really care if people think it's good or bad, and yes, I use her because she's better to look at from behind than the male version. I'm going to be playing this game for X hours every day - I want something easy on the eye!! I do not play a female character, however, to get attention from others, it is purely because I like the form better than the male version... Some characters look better as males, such as assassins but some just look stupid. The male mesmer, for example, looks a little...camp....thus, my Mesmer is female also.
Also, If a male warrior walks up behind me, i just......walk away......even if he doesn't start grinding, I just don't give him the chance...

Several times I've considered changing my secondary profession just to dissociate myself with these compulsive dry-humpers. But I realized that I dislike the other classes as secondaries (although with Nightfall, I may go W/D or W/P, those both sound awesome), and that I'd be the bigger person if instead of just switching professions, I did my best to help show people that not all wammos are infantile noobs.

personally i hope that quite alot of the offenders are just being idoits because the amount of people that i have met that behave like a "wammo" (doing the grind etc) is astronomical and i find the thought that all want to "get it on/get it off" and whatever with your virtual char, quite disturbing.
i hope your joking,
if not your going to need this

When a chick wears very little, do you think she is not aware of the fact?
Girls, like myself, dress the way we want to be perceived. I'll go out in next to nothing if I want to be looked at, yes girls do like to be able to turn heads. What is NOT warrented, however, are wolf-whistles, "slut" comments, gestures, and "hands-on" involvment unless EXPLICITLY invited.
Markus, your statement is akin to the line of thought that girls who get raped were asking for it.

I'd prefer this thread not go down the "why do men play women" road, because I'm not a guy, I have no idea why, and theres about 1000 threads on it.
As to the other part... I couldn't have said it better Lady Lozza.
errm... why do you want to join my guild?

He just wants to be in a guild with girls, presumably. I know my guild is insanely proud of the fact that it has several female games. Don't really know why...

If people are honest with themselves, especially guys playing using female characters, then really that is all it boils down to is they want something to oggle at/like the look of (and attraction, when you cut to the chase is fundamentally based on sex appeal) - or they happen to be females in real life too, for the most part. Sexuality not factored into it.
Look, the gaming market is dominated by males - it's a well known, long historical fact. Even the very earliest games, which had nothing more than just a few pixels and blobs on screen... how were some of them advertised? How were the females typically projected on adverts and the box? You guessed it, skimpy bikini clothes, ample cleavage etc. Really, it's pretty naive to think otherwise.
I dare say it's a worldwide thing - women are often portrayed as just their body counts e.g. car shows, hell game shows even, t.v. shows, magazine adverts just about everywhere, particularly in Western culture. Why would GW be any different in that regard, it isn't. "That male warrior gyrating on my buxom almost naked female char! oh nos!" Give me a break... what did you expect from this kind of environment

Your just assuming I think that way, but you are clearly wrong, I'm just pointing out that this type of thing happens more often to the type of girls that dress in a perticulor way.
I didnt wanto make it serious, So no need to defend yourself. Obviously Im not the type of person to get offended over the internet so dont take me to seriously.
To samify.
As for your guild, dont wanto be in it have my own.
Just typed it to see peoples reaction, Girl power is obviously not the type of guild a guy would wanto be in, Unless of course its my brother or some young wammo lad.
As for me I like to play male characters, But I hate male warrior as their are to many.
Though I will never make a male elem due to the fact they are just plain ugly in my eyes due to lack of skins to chose from, hopefully one day they will have beards and long hair maybe then.
