Is anyone else worried about the new salvage options?
manitoba1073
first off lets start this by saying its not about a single person lossing there fortunes. its more along the lines of possible GW wide implications.
1. lets see we'll prolly start seeing ppl selling whites for 100k+
2. no more of a need or want for greens or collectors items
3. mass explosion in the numbers of bots and farming shops multipling thus making things even more ridiculous expensive
its a wonderfull game i love and enjoy playing it. but i see a big problem with the new type of salvage of inscriptions and not just for PvE. i see it even reaching into PvP causeing probs like with the +5 ep and Lts helm. abuses are bound to be endless. i hope im not the only one that sees the possiblities and consequences with this. and in another post someones alrdy mentions how they planned to take serious explotaion of the new salv oppertunities.
all i ask is for everyone to keep there mind open about this and during the preview post ur views here on this subjct only. NO MENTION of personal loss or that likes plzz. and mods dont delete this one its a valid point
now for the fix that should have been implemented instead of this
1. double the chance of drops for Rares and Greens like during the weekend event
2. reduceing the effect of anti farm code even slightly
now all i want is not to lose a great game due to the possiblities of what can and will most likey happen.

Personally I think its good that you can now put those mods on new items, I want to get weapons that look good for my warrior and I have those skins, but I would prefer it that I didnt have to switch to victo's or a droks sword whenver I have to fight anything
I wanna pimp out my req 7 shinobi blade.....

well an example of white would be like req 7 max damage (what ever rare skin) with the 15^50 +30 20/20
like i said its just something to keep an eye on

Actually this should in theory make things cheaper not more expensive.

Does this mean that white crystallien swords could be modded with a +15^50 mod?
ap0c
this is anets way of avoiding an aunction house, just let the economy crash and you dont need an aunction house anymore ^^.
i like this change, no need to farm anymore
to the OP, whites wont go 100k+, its the opposite affect. every item will drop below 5k.
no more weapons costing millions (except nerfed stuff, however they prolly remove them from the game)
just a small hint, if you have weapons that cost 100k+ sell them now...

some people will pay any price for style over functionality?
now maybe the chestrunners will start getting banned.

as far as whites getting those stats the new salvage abilitiy will allow them to have them

1) there will be more max damage base weapons available. If you get a max damage, 13 while hexed, it is no longer garbage, it is now a worthwhile weapon.
2) there will be more 15^50 and other desierable mods available. Ugly and undesierable skins can ba salvaged and used for something that you want.
3) there will be more of both weapons and mods because you wont be loosing soo many due to salvaging. You will be able to choose which mod you want without loosing the weapon. No more trying to salvage a +30hp mod only to get a icy mod instead. Less losses means more mods/weapons means cheaper prices.
Golds will still be more valuable than purples, purples more than blue, blue more than white. People want the color. We already see this, so there is no reason to think it will change.
Most greens have very little value as is. A gold with the same stats is already more expensive. Greens are a cheap and easy way to get a good quality weapon.

roflmao That's right!! now everyone will see how ugly the skin is
(and you mean blue...)
llsektorll
well now you can get that moderatly cheap crystaline you bought for 700k and make it 15^50 and feel godly ... lolz

I'm still withholding judgement until I see what "inscriptions" really are. If they're a NEW inherent mod, rather than the old ones, then that will just push the price of max damage, low req weapons higher.
Everyone's assuming that you'll be able to salvage a 15>50 or 15% stance mod from a weapon, and I'm skeptical. Anyone with real info and not speculation?

Anyone wna hazard guess at what price 15^50 mods are gna start at?
Im guessing like 100k + XX ectos - PM OFERS NO NOOBS!!1!

manitoba1073
my guess would be a minimum 50k

I do not think that the inherent mods should be salvageable. I think that you should be able to apply a 15^50 or whatever mod to any weapon as long as you have unlocked that mod kind of like in PvP. I think this will be the only way to not throw things out of balance. This way the market will not be flooded with all the silly 15^50 mods.
Solar_Takfar
Why, I think it's brilliant. Makes life much easier for people who don't do farming (ie. me). As someone said, the amount of mods and weapons will be greatly increased, thus bringing prices down, AND the weapond we find during the normal course of the game will be more likely to be useful, if only to salvage the mod off it.
As for item color, I think it's likely that a white item that gets an inscription will become blue. why? look at armor sets. all those that offer some sort of bonus (other than plain +energy) are blue, not white.

and i have been giving away all those nice looking golds with "while hexed" stats
lol im sure its just a rumor. you might be able to apply the "15^50" to a weapon, but i doubt you can easily salvage it out of it

PCgamer aparrently mentioned "inscriptions," which are inherent modifiers on a weapon that can be salvaged and interchanged. The point I was trying to make about the assumptions people are making, is that they are assuming that the current inherent mods are going to be salvagable, when PC gamer didn't SAY that. It said inscriptions are going to be salvagable, but never said that inscriptions are the current inherent mods.
For all we know, inscriptions might be the current inherent mods, or they might be an entire new batch of inherents to allow greater customization of a weapon.

Nah my item collection will still be worth I think in the region of 15 million gold as the items in it worth the many millions cannot be bought anymore or are not worth enough to warrent the inherent mods Even if that happens I still have another 10 million + to fall back on I may lose a few million but that means nothing to me I own everything in the game I want and have filled entire accounts with surplus items.... If it does apply to gold items nps, ill just buy nerfed items or get FOW armor for every single char I have
Please quote me properly and your attempted flame failed badly

Swappable "Inscriptions" and Choosing Mods to Salvage
"Inscriptions" are "inherent bonus modifiers for weapons" and can be transferred among most weapons, or sold for gold. Also, no more salvaging what you don't want, you can choose what component you want to salvage.
There really is no question about this. Inherent bonus modifiers for weapons are the 15^50, 15 -5 energy, 15 -10 armor, 20% (while hexed), 15% (vs. hexed), 15% (while under the effects of an enchantment), 15% (while in a stance). PC Gamer says that these will be "swappable". They also say that components that are salvageable are no longer left to chance. You can now salvage the specific component you want off an item. I do not like the fact that according to PC Gamer you are able to sell the inherent mods for gold, but I suppose that is the way they would like to go with this. I would have made it similar to PvP in that you would have to unlock a specific inherent modifier for a class of weapon in order to swap the mods. It looks like ANet wants to make these inherent mods salvageable.

A 6-28 White Tribal Axe / Tyrian Sickle will be so damn expensive if it ever pops out. Making that into a 15>50 one would be so cool!
EDIT: Omg, I wonder if you'd be able to salvage a 15% uncoditional mod out Those are going to be worth SO much if this is true. 15% uncoditional Crystalline.. Ouch.

Of course noone truly knows how this will end up and just like you my collection of rares will be hurt by this, but you know what I am not worried in the least. I will actually be a little bit relieved to not have to worry about tirelessly searching for those ULTIMATE items. Now I can make them if I choose to. That is a welcome change in my opinion.

It could apply to every item since prophecies
It could apply to only certain items i.e. special item sets
It could apply to greens only
It could apply to Elonian only items
I still think it wont apply to every single gold item in the game. I entitled to my opinion and I am entitled to not being flamed at by people laughing at how I will lose gold if the inherent mods were to apply to every item.

So, anyone find any of these "Inscriptions" in the preview yet?
Is the new Salvage feature even up yet?

just remember that people will have to equip A LOT of heroes with stuff. demand will take a sudden spike. let's hope the new inscriptions can hold it in check or else prices might even soar.

I don't think you should worry about it even if it applies to all items or whatnot. The game will still be fun even if we can't flash our rares from time to time. Its not like you will lose any respect for what you do in the community just cause your weapons are no longer one of a kind. I mean hell if anything it just makes the insanely rare items even more rare. For instance now you and I can shoot for the unconditional items out there to salvage for our Dwarven, Crystallines, Tribals, and whatnot. Trust me dude it is not the end of the world and I would think it would be a mistake to quit over this. I have not talked to SPiL about this yet, but I really hope he sticks around.
