Anyone else bored?
Artdeux
Yea, getting bored here as well.
Farming was quite fun for me, as it kept me going for the nice items. People need reachable goals in every game. The removal of farming from a game makes those goals further and further out of reach. Sooner or later, 15K becomes FoW just because the time invested to get FoW before, would be the same amount of time it would take now. (Exaggerated for emphasis.)
The thing is, you'd have to go through All 3 campaigns a few times with just regular rewards and items for just 1 set of 15K armour. I'm not seeing the 5,000 gold rewards or anything to make it easier right now. I'm reluctant to buy any large items for fear it will take forever to recover the amount of money used to get the item.
Anyway, I think a way to fix the AI could be for it to determine party size as the high priority. I don't think 100 monsters (Or players even) would really flee from one person, as they shouldn't know if the person is breaking down or not.
[EDIT] - I guess I should also add that Farming is an End-Game thing, and I thought Guild Wars was supposed to emphasize the amount of end-game content? Once you're done with any campaign now, you're done. =/

Maybe if people didn't play guildwars 10 hours a day they wouldn't be as bored with it...and go for titles if you're that bored. or just take a break from guild wars instead of whining about how boring it is because you spent 60 hours in the past week playing it...get a job? a life?
and i have no idea why people complain saying the AI is broken because melee mobs now run from a solo farmer...farming is still doable, and it actually makes sense that they will stop attacking you after hitting about 20 times and realizing your life isn't even going down? god forbid, monsters are getting smarter...

Count me in the getting bored column as well. And as an overall "theme" if you will, Nightfall still has plenty of things to do, but far too many of those things have become or are becoming too tedious to bother to do.
Here's a list of reasons I think NF has lost the longevity the previous 2 chapters had, and some possible solutions:
1. Storyline. NF has the best storyline yet, but that is only a feature the 1st or 2nd play through. I like making a character of each class, but going through the NF storyline 10 times in a row is far too much work. Prophecies solved this problem by letting you skip missions, Factions had it to a much lesser extent because it was so much shorter. And both had missions that were challenging enough that at least for the first 3-4 playthroughs you wanted/needed humans which made each time different.
Solution: Allow more skipping ahead after the first play through. For instance let tyrian characters use the portal in the desert and skip to the second half of the game.
2. Heroes. I love them, but they could be made to be less destructive to the multiplayer aspects of this game. I've henched/heroed the entirity of NF without breaking a sweat, and was never even tempted to group up with another human. One huge flaw with the hero system is the need to level the heroes up. This means for the early and middle game, you have a large disincentive to group with people, since if you do you're not leveling up your heros. By the time you reach the end game you're used to henching it, and besides if you switch to PUGing at that point, then why'd you bother leveling up the heroes in the first place?
Solution: Remove leveling up of heros, just set hero level=PC level. Make 16-32 player missions that take 8 players along with +1-3 heros each to complete.
3. AI/Farming Nerfs. Here's the bottom line, before the nerf solo farming was 20x or more effective than "playing the game". You got 8x the drops for being solo, and with the old AI you could kill 20+ monsters in the same amount of time it would take to kill 2-3 currently. Post nerf solo hunting is generally at most 4-6x more effective than "playing the game". Or to sum up farming now takes way more time and work for the same reward.
Solution: If you're going to leave things the way they are, then you need to turn up the drop rate. Otherwise every end game activity that requires significant amounts of gold is going to feel like a horrible grind to your long term players.
4. Chests. I was never into chest running in a big way. But the old way they worked made it worthwhile to actually play with other people. Now you might as well go solo. Also I've noticed NF missions NEVER have chests. It was always nice to pull a few chests along the way when helping someone else do a mission you'd already done, this is now gone.
Solution: Put it back. Alternatively drop the prices on keys in the old chapters at least in half, this is not needed for NF, since NF purples are actually good. And then when multiple people enter a zone spawn more chests than you would for a solo player. I'd say 1-2 more chests per person would be great. And put the chests back in missions.
5. Skills are way too expensive, I'm not sure of the exact count but I think it's up near 1000 now. Outfitting a complete set of 10 characters with all skills using the current system costs millions of gold. If you're lucky and you don't splurge on expensive armor you might make 100k per character playing through all 3 games. As if cookie cutter builds didn't have enough incentives for their use.
Solution: Many have been proposed, here's a possible new one, only make the 1k be required to be spent ONCE per skill, after that any other character on the account can add that skill for free. This would also make rerolls to change appearance much less painful. Elite acquisition should also probably be made account wide instead of per character. As for cookie cutter builds, add missions where a specific build or sub set of skills have to be used, especially early on. This would be a great learning tool.
6. Inventory management, Items and Armor. I am constantly running out of space. Heros have made the problem even worse. The proportion of time I spend moving things around is getting larger. Moving things around is not fun. And then there's armor. What's the point of having 2 dozen armor skins if I only have room for 1 maybe 2 suits?
Solutions: Make the stash bigger, the stash should at a minimum be large enough that you can move a complete set of equipment from one character to another, including all 12+ heros. And it should get larger still as you add more chapters. E.g. at the current time the stash needs to be at least 5*9+13*2=71 slots instead of the 20 slots it currently is, plus more for owning multiple chapters.
Make heros able to be equipped with the PVP equipment maker, and while you're at it give them weapon switch slots.
Make armor no longer an inventory item, instead make it like hero armor, when you "buy" armor you unlock that appearance for that slot. Let people switch each slot on the fly between any armors they've unlocked. By slot I mean head, hands, legs, feet, torso. That way you could still use pieces from different suits to mix and match your own look. And then you could add titles for number of unlocked armor pieces! Whee.
7. Titles. Others have talked about the sunspear grind. It is there, and it is real, especially after the first time through, when you're no longer interested in doing all the side quests, and especially for non Elonian characters. Also remembering to run over and hit the right shrine before you kill the corresponding monster type in each zone gets old fast. Though the sunspear general grind itself is pretty minor compared to the grind of the entire storyline for the 3rd+ time through.
The titles that have been bugging me the most are the Treasure Hunter and Wisdom titles. Feeling that I need to concentrate all of my chest opening and gold IDing on 1 of my 10 characters is NOT FUN. Gone is the "ooo a gold, let's see what it is!" moment of fun. Instead it's replaced by yet more moving stuff around so that my designated IDer gets the credit.
Solutions: For the sunspear grind give non elonian characters 1-1.5k before they reach the mainland. For all characters double the rate of sunspear point acquisition. And make the activation of each shrine one time per character per zone. Another possible solution add a good quantity of sunspear and/or lightbringer title points to as a reward for each mission, and/or make kills within missions add to sunspear/lightbringer points. Finally, make the Wisdom and Treasure Hunter titles account wide. Making the lightbringer title account wide wouldn't be a bad idea either.
8. Another small problem: In prophecies, if someone was at THK, they were eligable to join you for the THK mission. In NF eligibility for a mission has been decoupled from ability to enter a mission town. This is yet another obstacle to overcome when forming a PUG.
Solution: I don't have one off the top of my head, though fixing this could tie into problem #1.
That's about all I can think of for the moment. Boy this turned into quite a tome.

so why give another 60 bucks to anet once the next chapter comes out?
my guess would be that its ppl that buy the game on the first day and play it 24/7 till they get through are the ones anet should pay more attention to. since its pretty obvious that they love the game - and once the die-hard fans are starting to go away - the game might be in some serious problems.

Get a job? Well, for those that need one, sure. I personally work from home; and when my work is done, I play GW. When my wife comes home then her and I do something. How has this made me un-bored with GW?
The AI is also not broken because it runs from a solo farmer; though it is funny to see three groups of X run to the edges of the map as my small-as-possible-monk with pigtails chases them begging them to hold still... or when my bikini-wearing ritualist is chasing them around holding a urn of ashes beging them to hit her... hilarious to see. It's even funnier to see some of the new builds simple destroy the AI within seconds since it's more worried about AoE and melee fleeing. When something "different" hits them, it causes them to not know what to do... so they stand there and die.
No, farming is not dead, solo farming is in fact easier now than ever before. You can very easily farm even the Djinn if you know what your doing.
No, the AI is broken because it attempts to be something it can not pull off in the PvE world. And in doing this, it has removed the fun factor of PvE. The assumption that people are saying the AI is broken simply because the mobs are smart enough to run is unfounded and out of date. This was the complaint from cookie cutter farmers between the 25th and 31st. Since then, the AI has changed and now the entire AI build in PvE has been broken. Search the threads, do some reading up on, and take note of the dates. It's interesting to see the attitude changes pre to post 31st AI.

Of my favorite solo farming spots, only ONE has been seriously affected, and that is due to the nature of my farming character.
I can still two-man UW.
I can still farm vermin.
I can still hit a dozen other places, including some nice spots in Elona.
Now, farming is only about 10% of the time I spend in the game, but I do find it relaxing after a stressful day. And it is certainly still possible, if you're willing to be flexible and smart.

I'm currently going for quite a few titles, actually. But what happens when I get royally pissed at some mission I need for Protector or that last 0.2% I need for Grandmaster Cartographer? I can't go chill out and smash a few trolls or whatever the mood suits. I have to go grind on something else.
I play this game because I can't shell out 15 bucks a month for another online game and wasting 50 bucks on a cool new game only to beat it and find I have nothing left to do doesn't appeal to me either. I'm hoping GW won't become the latter.

As for me, I am as bored as you guys. The only thing keeps me in GW is my PVP guild's gvg time since this is like the ONLY time where I can have fun with a GROUP doing something toward a goal.
I totally agree with other people said earlier about NF heroes. I used to play PVE. But after heroes are introduced in NF, and when I tried to play through the game with my monk...I quit. Why? Is because even as a monk, I can't find a PUG group. What's fun with GW when you can't play with real people instead you have a bunch of semi-"smart"-gay-AI-chasing-enemy-male-AI-monk around the whole freaking map.
So, yea, ...gvg....

I started reading from the last post I've read last night and decided to skip the rest to type this post. This thread is getting alittle off-topic into the issues with AI, heroes, PUGs or farming after the recent update and release of Nightfall.
While I said I'm bored with GW, I actually don't have any issues with the current AI, implementation of hero system (I personally think it's a good thing), PUGs (my Nightfall PUG experience hasn't been too awful) or farming. I think they are ok so far, still bearable and not exactly anything that would drive me off from the game; even Nightfall was pretty good IMO. If there were any issues I could personally think of, it's more of GW being more of a mob-killing-centric game which naturally gets dull for me after some time. I think Guild Wars has huge potential of evolving into a game with more variety; as such, I'm hoping that ANet would disclose their intended direction for Guild Wars so that I can decide whether I should stay and check out or hop on to something else. Perhaps I'm taking this too much like a career. :P
I have nothing against Guild Wars really. I still love the game, but it's come to a point where I need to decide whether the game has hit inertia for me or not (it's the same with Diablo II).

A group ten times the size of yours that are all eight levels higher should not run, period. If the AI is so much smarter it should figure out how to kill us with these incredible odds.

To me, the issues mentioned above are all on topic, as they all relate to various forms of boredom; which oddly almost all stem from one source. The AI.
With the changes to the AI, many "optional" forms of enjoyment were removed or made simply less enjoyable than they were previously. Farming for example, many enjoyed a great deal. Now, it's still possible, even easier in many cases, but it's not as fun... hence, boring.
Personally, I find farming pretty boring, but would take part in it when I saw something I would like to have (armor wise). That too me was part of the fun; running around in cool looking gear. Now that farming is even more boring than before, getting that cool looking armor has become more like a job, then a recreational situation.
Then, as an avid player; I really enjoyed the combat in Guild Wars. I loved the double damage bosses in Factions. I had a great many laughs with friends at being one hitted by some of them. It was great.
However, I loath, despise and utterly hate the GW PvP game. Why? It's simply not my cup-o-tea. I like PvP games like Battlefield 2/2142. I love PvP in games like Rome Total War and Medival Total War. Those are my types of PvP games. But the GW PvP... blech! It's too much like a game of tag to me.
Now, when I see that PvP play style oh so subtly invading the part of Guild Wars I love to play in... it is no longer fun; and we have boredom.
So, as I see it, the AI having changed to a really poor adaption of a wanna-be PvP player has changed many things. Farming is not as fun (for those that found it fun); combat, the core of the game, is now less fun; exploration and running around for whatever the reason is now less fun (since the AI is dorked into a perma-aggro lock)... simply put, the new AI has ruined the game for many and made it into a much less fun game than it was just weeks ago.

3. Nobody expect them to be gods. They are implementing things they were opposing at the beggining ( like grinding - now u have to grind for factions, now sunspear points etc.. ) Well how about they say they read these forums all day long so i WOULD expect them to know what players want.
I made many suggestions on PVE side already and many more from ppl who thinks similar like i do.
And if u just started playing or you still enjoy playing the same things after 2 years keep enjoying it. Nobody is coming after you to take this away from you. I dont see why you are snapping like this, like a child, whos toy is just about to be stollen. If you think everything is as it should be than that is your opinion and dont try to force it on others who think different.

The AI gets annoying but my problem is with the lack of innovation. What about using the portal mechnic in the desert to make puzzle quests?? The battles are basically the same just in a different area and with different skills that are close to others. The art in this game is magnificent, and GW is one of my favorite games. It is just that with all the promise they show, there isn't much in the way of completely new quests or mechanics besides the wurms. You could easily take a battle from nightfall and change the skins/professions to Factions and nothing would change.
I am bored because of this and the overall lack of depth compared to other games I have played and get to play/observe. My friends play WoW, City of Heroes and Villans, Ultima Online etc and I get to see the different things they can do. Maybe I am bored with the lack of significant improvements (especially from Chapter 1 problems) or maybe my tastes have changed ... I am not sure. I am going to wait for the 'big update' because I want to see if NF will interest me again.
Those who can't handle other peoples' opinions, can you go sabotage a different thread? I like reading on how people are or aren't bored and don't want this thread shut down because of arguements and narrowminded egos.

Also note that the economy is kinda screwed now.
Instead of going down, prices of materials and runes are going UP. Also, people are still selling their uber 1337 weapons for 100K and 50 ectos. Make that even more cause it's now practically impossible to get a req 8 golden weapon with max damage. (Since there isn't a single monster in NF that only drops max stuff, and goldies only drop once in a year. Also, ppl got less gold t spend on keys, and chests now have an even bigger possability of dropping purple.)
Note that the ecto prices are going up, rubies and sapphires as well, and Diamonds aren't even in the Material Trader yet cause every1 sells to real people foran unfair price.
Only thing that's going down are the dyes, but I think alot of people have lost their faith in dyes, and want to wait for a good mix-chart before they're actually gonna screw up thier armor's colour.
Well, I'm gonna be bored untill it's possible to farm again, or when ecto prices will be 100 gold each or something ¬_¬

Do me a favor: type /age. Name me three games that give you as lengthy entertainment as GW does for the same price. I for one can't name any...
Seriously: it dazzles me how people can expect not to get bored eventually? Did you think that you were gonna play GW until the end of eternity? Were you expecting GW to magically solve all life's entertainment issues?
GW is a great game and, imo, one of the best ever made but you cannot expect a game to stay interesting forever.
As to the complains I see here: same old, same old. People were complaining the game had lost all 'end-game' when Flesh Gollems got nerfed. People were complaining the economy was messed up when runetraders got introduced. The end of GW was foretold the first time AoE got nerfed.
Somehow GW has managed to stick around despite the so called lack of 'end-game' content, with a ruined economy and a community that's 'filled' with scammers, whiners, and bots.
If you think farming is nerfed then think again, and open your eyes. If you think prices are too high then find a way around it and use those high prices to make good money. If you think FoW is impossible to gain nowadays then allow me to laugh. I've already managed to get 1/4th of what I need just by playing through NF once. If you think the AI is screwy then deal with it.
If you're bored then play something else... Cause really, what is the purpose of a thread like this? Yes, to vent frustrations, and if that is the only purpose for this thread then just do yourself a favor and take a break. You'll return with a renewed love and perhaps the issues you have with the game will be fixed by then.
And if you really care about making GW better then go make a thread called 'How to enrich the GW endgame content'.

No I don't expect to play GW forever, but I'm bored of NF even though it's not even out a month yet...
From doing nightfall twice, I've got 5K in total - just enough to buy max armor for my dervish.
FoW isn't impossible to get yet, until ecto prices get even higher - sure, the people who already have some gold can just market, but ppl with nothing won't get anything either - maybe a golden staff that reqs 13 Healing prayers and has effects for Spawning Magic, Earth magic and Fast Casting -_-

Why are there a few people who keep saying the reason for being bored is because they can't get FOW armor? I had no idea it was a requirement for fun. I guess I've been fooling myself into thinking that I was having fun since I don't or ever will have FOW armor. Go figure.

I wasn't bored for over a year and a half until the latest changes. I deal with the Ai but it's not as fun as before.

No, but farming IS fun, and so are the things you can do after farming (like buying keys without being broke already, experimenting with items, dyes and other stuff, buying that rune/armor you always wanted)
And the thrill of the hunt - the pleasure of getting a golden weapon unidentified - seeing materials stock up in your storage - it all gives a feeling of 'yeah I'm really doing great now'.
Farming is just fun IMO, sure, farming can also be boring, but in that case you just try something new, experiment with old farm spots to make it faster/easier, or just try the big things (FoW/UW)

I have played GW for 15 months now. I agree wholeheartedly that any game if given enough time will eventually get boring and GW is no exception. However, I find it odd that this boredom that I've suddenly developed in comparison to some others comes around the same time a large majority have finished NF. I was not in this state mind 1 week prior to NF's release. Is this a coincidence? Taking a break from the game isn't my idea of an answer to my boredom for the game. I could be gone 2 months and come back and still be bored because nothing has changed. Maybe things will change but I don't know that. It's also not whether I should take a break or not but why it ever came to this? Why has the game gotten to the point where I now have to take a break in order to come back and enjoy it the same way I once did? Since the current GW is nothing like the former GW that I had originally started out playing 15 months ago how will taking a break bring back the good times?
Now allow me to explain why I'm bored. The following are opinions of my own and I do not ask for anyone to agree with me but instead to understand where I come from.
First and foremost is the new AI update which has caused quite a stir thus far. Basically what was done is Anet has neutered farming, chest running, and running services. Yes I know these things can still be done but to a lesser degree. To me this was a form of FUN. It was a good means of making money to buy things that I wanted (not needed) in game. I KNOW TO DON'T NEED TO FARM/GRIND FOR UBER RARE ITEMS TO BE COMPETITIVE. Having FoW armor doesn't mean I had or didn't have fun but it was a reward for the fun I did have while farming. HEY I'M HAVING FUN THE WAY I THINK IS FUN FOR ME AND I GET REWARDED FOR IT! WOOT! Again, I know I don't need to grind for vanity items to compete that has been mentioned far too many times. Funny thing is competition is something that never really occured to me anyways. I never played the PvE aspect of the game and farmed as a means of competition. I mean who am I competing against? Why would someone use the, "Don't need uber items to compete" for an argument in PvE? I farmed because it was a source of income. It gave me a goal to achieve and something to do after I finish the game. Farming was an OPTION or another form of entertainment for some of us. Some of you haven't reached this state of boredom because we as individuals all have different goals. Some of which take more time or a take different routes to achieve this goal. I have played GW for 15 months now and the goals I set for myself have been completed. What kept me playing for 15 months was farming. Whether it be SOLO, DUO, OR TEAMS it didn't matter. Farming was fun for me and for alot of people. It was a good way to meet friends as well. This AI update didn't ruin solo farming, it ruined farming altogether. I remember it was fun to form groups into Sorrow's Furnace, UW, FoW, green farming etc.. But now farming takes longer, the mobs are smaller now do to the whole scatter effect. The fun was lost somewhere. I didn't farm 24/7. I did alot of questing, helping new players, playing with friends and what not. Farming was just another option available to players who wanted to do it because it was fun for them. Anet has taken some of this away without an alternative. Farming can still be done mind you but it takes alot longer. I don't see how this would benefit casual players trying to achieve a goal. Where as hardcore players will remain hardcore whether it takes long or not to farm simply because they have the time for it unless borebom gets to them first.
The original argument about farming was that the economy was screwed and prices were too high for new players to gain access to goods that people who spend the time could obtain. How does nerfing farming to lower prices help? Ok so the new players now have access to uber items at a cheaper cost. Unfortunately there will always be vanity items that reward people for their time and these "new" players won't be new forever and will eventually graduate to "veteran" status. Some of these people will want these vanity items because it's a goal they set for themselves. But since we ranted about making items cheaper thus nerfing farming these "graduated veterans" who are no longer new players need to now "grind" to achieve what we older players could have done in half the time prior to this update. Now more then ever it takes us longer to level and to gain money. This is not about competing here. (PvE) This is about enjoying the game in the many options that was once available that no longer is. Grinding has increased. It takes longer to kill things now since monsters are running away from their attackers. Thus leveling each of your characters has now become a grind. Gaining skill points to be to able to unlock skills for you characters is now more a grind then before. Gaining money has also become a grind. Farmers were a very large part of the community. Some are just more hardcore then others. It's really hard to dismiss that fact. Deldrimor Warcamp, ToA, Augury, Elona Reach, Senji's Corner, Maatu Keep... I can basically sit here and list every single outpost and town that had anything to do with farming for anything. This list would be huge and would pretty much account for every location. That's how big farming was. We even have a section in this very forum just for farming builds. If you look at the replies and views of each thread you'll notice how farming played a major role in the game. By neutering farming you've just crippled a large part of the player base. I don't speak for everyone because I KNOW NOT EVERYONE THINKS THIS WAY but why take that option away from the people that do? You hand new players everything on a silver platter with the argument that they should be able to obtain perfect items. Anet gave them green items that should've been enough. Why cripple farming and the replayability for the rest of us? Some of you people make it sound so easy to just adapt to these situations. "Go PvP if you're bored" Sure no problem I can go PvP because at least that option is still available to me unlike some of the options that Anet has seemingly taken away although it won't change my current state of boredom.
I had alot more to say but in the midst of all this typing I forgot some. But nonetheless it matters not whether anyone agrees with me or not since these are afterall my opinions and expressions of how the current state of the game is.
Peace!

On the hero note, they are nice when you can't wait around all day looking for a group or dealing with people that think you can aggro 3 groups simultaneously and everything will be fine. We need better grouping options, and people leave their ideas on the forums all the time.
Can't we discuss (positives and negatives alike) without leading to rants and flames?

Everyone seems to think that making everything affordable for everyone is a great thing, but I think that is one of the major problems that this update has caused. Before, if you couldn't afford it, you had to go find it. Now you can just buy whatever you want. The fun there ends in about five seconds. I used to love seeing a rare in the high end section and deciding I wanted to go find one myself. That excitement just doesn't exist any longer. Making it easier for everyone to get everything makes for a much shorter lifespan for a game.

*Post Edit* This is kinda long.
The reason for threads like this is to discuss, as stated before. It's well known that ANet looks in these forums from time to time to try and get a sense of what the players want. I post in the hopes that maybe they will take my point of view into consideration, and because I feel better that there are others that I can empathize with.
Basically, my logic is...I used to be able to make gold quickly and efficiently through legitly playing the game. I didn't buy or sell gold on eBay. I didn't try to rip other players off and always sold whatever rare items I had found for a very fair price, since I didn't need that much gold, I just liked to be able to buy what I wanted when I felt like it, much like anybody else. I hear the arguments "Well I have 1.5k max armor and I'm happy, why would you want anything else? You don't NEED 15k armor." Well, obviously I don't need it. My first play through, I thought I would never buy a set of 15k armor, it was just so stupid to me. But as I branched out into other characters, as I got more into the game, I came to realize that this game starts when you beat the game (or at least hit level 20). So, I started to run out of things to do with my money (little as I had) and wondered, "Is this why people spend so much?" The answer is yes.
Any serious PvPer (actually, anyone with common sense) will tell you that you don't need a req. 8 Oni Blade with perfect mods to compete. But you know what's nice? Having that shiny armor with a crazy-sweet looking axe/sword/whatever at your side, kicking ass and taking names while looking good. For some people, that armor is collector armor, or Drok's, while for some it's 15k or Fissure armor. Some people like collector weapon skins, some like the Crystalline Swords.
Now, ANet does a lot to provide for new players, and that's wonderful, couldn't be happier for the newbies. But when it causes people like me to get bored of this game in what seems to me like too short of a time, I don't agree with their line of thinking. I stopped playing Guild Wars about 2 months before Factions was released, because I didn't have a guild and was bored. When I returned, I talked to a friend I knew and he told me how to farm Trolls outside Drok's. I proceeded to spend the rest of my summer doing that and other forms of farming, since the gold intake was unparalleled for me at that time. I had previously gone through Prophecies the quintessential newbie, pretty much ignorant to anything but myself. I had usually about 15-25k at all times, maybe less if I bought armor on those rare occasions. But now after a few days, I had 100k. That was crazy! I started to look for other ways to farm, joined a casual guild, and would farm Rotscale, Fissure, Underworld, etc, etc. Usually with guildies. At my peak I reached 500k in raw gold with probably another million in materials and even more converted value in the inventories of my characters and the 15k armor sets I had bought. Yeah, turned out I thought they looked really nice and actually wanted them now.
My point, through all this rant and ramble, is that in the end it's diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks. Some people PvP, some people GvG, some people are just starting the game, some people farm, some people use GW as a big chat room. I personally think that the game should provide plenty of chances for each of these people and many other types to have fun. I think the fact that I could farm for such a period of time without it losing it's appeal, versus the slowly spreading boredom I feel with the game now, is testament to how ANet has denied me an output.

I think the fact that I could farm for such a period of time without it losing it's appeal, versus the slowly spreading boredom I feel with the game now, is testament to how ANet has denied me an output.

im completely bored with PvE...HA is getting kinda fun since i can get into actual groups...
Farming isnt too much of a problem for me, i use the A/E Sliver armor build now and it still works fine.
And im going back to counterstrike source now too. Blowing people's heads off with an AWP is kinda fun

1,128 hours and 27 minutes over the past 5 months (all characters).
Before GW I've played:
- Starcraft + expansion for approx. 4 years.
- Diablo II + expansion for approx. 4 years.
- Warcraft III + expansion (including DotA) for approx. 3 years.
- Need for Speed Underground & 2 for approx. 1 year.
- Dawn of War + expansions for approx. 6 months and still on from time to time.
Looks like GW's really losing out. But then again, that's not really the point isn't it?

First off I think Nightfall is great. Love it. But! I miss playing with "REAL" people. Before I used to gripe about having to stand around for long periods of time trying to find a group that would accept my builds. I thought heros would be the answer to this. Now that i've played nightfall it feels almost like a single player game to me.
I know it's still possible to find a group. It's just the chances of doing that seem so much smaller now that heros are among us. I don't care if the group is good or bad. If the people are nice and sometimes funny it makes playing in a group much more fun for me regardless if we win the mission. I guess that is the only thing that is burning me out. I still play and enjoy the rest of the game though.

Increasing the number of rare drops, or valuable items in missions might help things. Usually when people team up it's to go farming, and people like seeing all of the nice drops even if it's for other people. How often have you heard when farming in SF:
"No henchies"
"No way are those noob henchies stealing my greens and golds!!'
"Henchies affect the drop rate!!"
And people who have done it before will have a reason to come back to redo missions.

I have to know this..please someone extremely knowledgable about this game tell me why people think its fun to replay the same campain over and over again with 10 different characters? I must find the answer to this, before I continue with the countless other "bored player" issues this game creates.

if you need a tip on making money (since you are complaining about how much money you made):
-use ID kits on every item you get, except for collectables, or salvageable armors. the increased value of id'ed items outweighs the 100g cost of the actual ID kit.

Do I ever get bored of the game? Of course. It's because I've played it for a long time. And most of you have as well. Anything can get boring after a while. Go take a break. If GW seems too much as more of the same, then do something else. Play another game for a while. But don't expect the game to magically change into something completely new. Also, this has turned into another thread complaining about the A.I. And we sure need another one of those right? |
Frankly no one cares. People here are not asking for someone else's opinion on how to make the game more fun or for little tips from condescending people on how to make the game fresh. They are simply expressing their displeasure at what has been done. There is no problem for you to solve, and no advice needed.
If you disagree with the OP and are not bored then please just post that you are not bored and maybe give a few reasons, but for the love of god would you please stop trolling for flames by your "reasonable" attitude and perhaps unintentional condescension towards others who do not share your opinion?
No two people are likely to see things exactly the same way. Can't you accept that some people here are just honestly expressing their opinion that they don't like what has become of the game? We all spent the money for the game and for some of us it's not what we anticipated based on the information we were given. It's perfectly natural for us to express our displeasure at that turn of events.
Will things get changed as a result? Probably not. However, if no one complains then there will certainly not be a change. So, yeah this is another complaining thread. AND it's where it should be and it's done in the manner that should be done.
Back to the topic. Yep, something's definitely added to the level of boredom for this one and I don't think that it's the content of the game per se for me. I think it's just the fighting. For some reason it just doesn't seem fun. You can adapt to it. Instead of your old "cookie-cutter" skill bar, you can create a new one. Either way you're still using the same skills over and over again, so that's not it. The human interaction part is probably an issue too. Even guildies are more likely to play without another human unless it's a particularly difficult mission.
Dunno what else to say. I just hope they find a way to breathe life back into it.
