Why would I go from a game with good graphics, cool game-play, free monthly, awesome PvE and not addictive *To and extent XD.* to a game with bad/Terrible 1998 Graphics, monthly Payment, and too stupid looking.

Don't say "Well, Guild Wars has a monthly cus when you buy every 6 months BLAH BLAH", you don't have to buy them, and what happens when you don't buy every six months? nothing. What happens when you don't pay for 6 months in WoW?.

Back on topic, WooooooT I can't wait until this new mode comes out!

Really though, Hard Mode ftw, some missions to me are too easy. And what's with all the Anet bashing? They get a couple of things wrong and then people are too cynical to realize they do more things right than wrong. Really think about all the little things that Anet has implemented into the game. Those get left unnoticed.
i.e Observer mode, reconnects, party search, alliances, extended Guild support... the list goes on

You mean that Blizzard actually copied the City Of Heroes difficulty system finally?

Though I doubt too many will leave for WoW since they bought Guild Wars for the no fee part. However I hear a few are heading for Vanguard.

Thats the chief difficulty i forsee with this , Arenanet will have to add in a system to prevent someone with "hard mode" on , joining a team who just want to play the mission normally , or have separate hard mode districts. Otherwise I can see of unnecessary added stress going down in finding teams , and certain jerks who would set it on hard mode for the express purpose of ruining the fun of others , if missions can be called fun.

There are ppl in this game who get kicks out of ruining other's time , I've seen it, would be sad if they were able to ruin this as well.

Granted, I'm still waiting to see Urgoz and The Deep opened to everyone and not just owners of Cavalon and House zu Heltzer... Truth be told, I have not yet even played in such challenging areas. But I wish to...

Back to the topic at hand, having a "Hard Mode" will be superb! I'm guessing/hoping this will also include Prophecies?

vizunah square is going to be a RIOT!

nice to add some replay value to pve. i can play through factions time and time again and still enjoy it, but not so much in tyria and elona. (moddock crevice, wtf @ that mission!) the ones in tyria are just too easy, and the ones in elona have a tendency to just be annoying and long. maybe that's why i like factions so much, i like to blow through a mission as fast as possible and do a nice /flex afterwards cuz i just blew through 6854165165 baddies in under 15 minutes

Anyway all you can do against that ridiculously overpowered boss is be prepared with the counters to searing flames (not many i know) pre- mission. Kind of takes the fun away as its Build Wars for PvE.

Very difficult to keep spread out in such confined halls but we beat him by taking out the other 2 first without aggroing him , and then bringing him down from all sides at once with out own searing flames mostly.

But yea , as for hard mode , i can well imagine that on REGULAR mode that ele boss djinn will do some 380 dmg on average to ppl i bet with hard mode he will do more like 600 (+) , PER person .....

so yes , without monk enchants , its instant death .....to the whole team ...with a single attack ....

And he does pretty much spam it.

...which is all high-end PvE in general. (i.e. Deep, DoA)

I gurantee you, one day after the Hard Mode is instituted, there will be a flood of Mesmer whine posts that no one wants them in a group...

...of course, smart people will do the missions with Heroes, duh, so it may be a misnomer.

I cannot imagine in any way that DoA could get harder than it is and have anyone playing it.... Is it possible (crossing fingers) that this could be a two-fold update? That they could make DoA a little easier (think elite missions from Cantha) for "the rest of us" who don't play 24/7, while at the same time creating a harder world for those that do play 24/7 and like to call everyone noobs?

It will get harder , the more skills that are seen as "overpowered" in PvP get nerfed up , skills which make DoA no less wearisome , but bearable at least.

and omg I'd shudder to think if they had a "hard mode" for DoA , the only thing i can think of is vastly expanding the size of the aggro bubble of the baddies and making it so that 1 hit from any baddie = instant death! , with enchant removal to spare! Not to mention stacking environmental effects!

That would probably be mission impossible , but it will shut up all the elitists who say PvE is far to easy eh?

IF its too easy , then play in a tougher area , problem solved.

It cant all be rock hard to play , as that leads to cookie cutter builds and the alienation of many professions deemed not powerful enough , or not fitting in said cookie cutter builds. And it will also alienate new / mid range players.

Theres areas for you if you want the super hard challenge all the time, I like the super challenge of DoA etc some of the time , but thats there , I'd certainly hate all pve to be that way , which is why im glad this har mode should be optional - IF THEY DO IT RIGHT - see my previous posts on jerks ruining others games.

It goesfor any game . If youre a vet and have the right build and use the right tactics , then you can win in ANY area relatively straightforwardly , doesnt make it fun necessarily. DoA , while ive done alot of it to get morte than a few rewards , I have never found it fun. An achievement yes , fun , no.

That's more player stupidity than game difficulty. You should be infused before you take on Mursaat, or at least not fight very many before you are infused. If you are using frenzy, you should know when to use it and how to cancel it, firestorm, well, I've never had a problem monking for teams nuking with the new ai. Assassins? pah, easy to heal unless they are morons, and again, they should be infused against those mursaat. You can't blame game difficulty on player stupidity.

And ... don't forget add an inherent effect to the Guardian title. Anyway, why not add inherent effects to ALL titles in game? I think the only purpose of showing title to others (or myself) is a thing of the past, at least for me. I LOVE, for example, the inherent effect of PvP titles adding 5.000 to B.faction max.

it gives a new challenge and as galie said its optional, it also gives us new titles to go for

the only downside i could possiblely see, is elitism is mission areas or ppl whining about how "its too hard"

I'm pretty sure you won't be able to do missions on hard mode when you don't have certain other qualities (like Protector of Elona already). I'm pretty sure you'll get decent teams for this quite quickly, and heroes pretty much made everything easy, I'm pretty sure I'll be doing most of these with heroes anyway.

If no heroes are allowed; Hard Mode will be a flop.

Why? We'll have people spread around 58 missions (57 if you don't count Augury Rock as a mission). Do you really think that there will be enough people for an all-human group in each area?

About time. Protector title is like the easiest title in the game to get - be it with players or H&H. Need something more challenging that doesn't require just specific builds to play like DOA - can we all say Mantra of Frost.

DOA is challenging but once you have the correct build and your teammates are all au faite with how things works, it's just time consuming really - as with all elite missions I suppose.

Hard mode can only add another dimension to the game. Sadly NF was too easy, even getting Grand Master Cartographer was too easy...damn Tyria! With all it's silly clipping problems, it is still a decent title to get there!

Wish they could address the 'survivor title' exploits though...that title has lost so much value. Oh well.

Let's all wait and see what Anet brings the pve world next!

A real Hard Mode would be the following:
-A 120% Death Penalty can be reached.
-Rez Signets don't recharge when you get a Moral Boost.
-Monsters will be at a higher level than usual and all will carry Rez Signet(I'm looking at you Roaring Ether!). If a Boss is surrounded by a mob it can be Rezzed.
-No modifiers would be applied to weapons, shields, or focus items. They would still be on the weapon but would have no effect in the mission.
-The bonus MUST be done to complete the mission.
-All Heroes and Henchmen would have an auto 15% Death Penalty.
