"Fresh Guild Wars announced" From the Inquirer!

Well..seeing as Anet has realeased a New Asura Mini pet and Asurians beings a playable class in GW2 i assume this article is not a hoax. However Asurians are freaken ugly and cartoonish as ever, Im sure im never making one of them. Charr Playables ftw!
The Great Al
something that concerns me is that the way the Asura is dressed, assuming that this is something from chapter 4, is not really representative of something to be found in a wintry area. Maybe then either the title is wrong, or the "North" doesn't necessarily mean that it is going to be a snowy game?
Redfeather1975
It's dressed like a native american villager.
Maybe it's north of Istani.
Maybe it's north of Istani.
The Great Al
if this is going to be the last chapter of GW1 i will be incredibly disappointed if it is anything but a snowy environment...i know that's probably being selfish, but chapter 3 was very dull at times, chapter 2 goes without saying, and...judging by how grenth's footprint and the surrounding area was done, i think a wintry game would be amazing.

Wait, has anyone noticed the background is a dungeon? ALSO, the warrior is wearing Nightfall armor, meaning the next chapter might not take place directly above Tyria afterall. Maybe to the north east of elona, placing it west of Ascalon. But then how would you boat travel to it?

And the warrior is just a random character model they stuck in for size reference, his presence doesn't mean it will have anything to do with Elona. I'm not saying any of that is bad, but don't try to assume connections with the fourth campaign when most likely they have no such deeper significance.

The environment could be as varied as Prophecies.
Giant snowy peaks, huge plains, deserts, swamp, rolling hills, ect.

Isn't that what all art teams do? not just Anet.
PS: Lets aim for a 1000 posts here people, keep it going with the "positive" inputs.

From someone who's read the "the Inquirer" for tech non-gaming news. They do have a bad habit of firing stories along lines of what gale indicated, some truth, some misinformation, and other stuff just plain wrong.
If you look at tech forums and the topic of the Inquirier comes up... don't be holding your breath, you will be turning blue. There right on once in a blue moon with "exclusive" info like this.
Now the mini-pet is cool and I suspect a quick taste of chapter 4.

Word of mouth (WOM) , aka Word of Mouth Marketing (WOMM), is a formalized marketing effort designed to stimulate the passing of information by verbal means, especially recommendations, but also general information, in an informal, person-to-person manner, rather than by mass media, advertising, organized publication, or traditional marketing. Word of mouth is typically considered a face-to-face spoken communication, although phone conversations, text messages sent via SMS and web dialogue, such as online profile pages, blog posts, message board threads, instant messages and emails are often now included in the definition of word of mouth. There is some overlap in meaning between word of mouth and the following: rumour, gossip, innuendo, and hearsay; however the negative connotations of these words are not included in the meaning of word of mouth.
I copy/pasted the decription from wikipedia.org. (full article here ----> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Word_of_mouth) If they really did pull a WoM marketing move then it's safe to say that some of the information on the site is true (just as Gaile mentioned somewhere in these 600 + posts) but they could of also combined it with viral marketing to but in the false and misleading information.

GW2? GW:EN? What?
I'm about to go jump off the Space Needle now. I hope for all that is bright and fluffy that those rumors of GW2 being non-backwards-compatibibbly with GW1 are False. I really really hope that article is wrong. God helf us if it isn't

Reading the original article again, I'm struck anew by the really poor grammar and grasp of the English language displayed by the author. It's quite strange.
Much of what the author claims seems to go against the direction Anet has been steering this game towards for the last two years.
IMO, this is the true part, and nearly all the rest, if not all of it is false. Gaile said that some of the story is true, but she never said just how much. It could be just a snippet.
I will wait and see, since I have no choice, but my gut says that the story is 99% bull.

actually...i just realized that GW2 could very well be true. If any of youve watched the making of GW.NF, towards the end, the staff of ArenaNet say that its only the beginning and that theyve barely scratched the surface. IMO, theyre really planning to make a revolutionary game in the future and that my friends could be GW2

Well, I am a little skeptical of the story, but it does make sense. Trying to keep up with campaign 4 rumors, I saw a press release from NCSoft that mentioned "...a new major update to the Guild Wars franchise in the latter half of 2007." (Source: Press release: NCsoft records KRW 338.7 billion in sales in 2006) It is interesting that they call it a "Major Update" and not a "New Chapter" or "New Campaign." Maybe GW:EN is that update. Although, I would really doubt that they won't realease ANYTHING else until GW2. Perhaps not another full campaign, but at least another Expansion pack; if for no other reason than for the continued stream of revenue (no new product = no new money to make GW2 with).

(I just can't get over the fact that Gaile refuses to say what's false/misleading or true.)
What about this possible floating mountain in the middle of the ocean between Istan and Tyria? Is there anyway that this REALLY has to deal with Chapter 4 and the whole snowy place north of tyria thing is really a ginat distraction?

So here's my take on the article, and the minipet.
Okay. GW - Eye of the North. If it's another expansion, I'm not sure on that name. Mainly because, well... Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, Eye of the North. That last one just doesn't fit in very well. My take is that it's another Sorrow's Furnace type place, but with more substance to it than the Furnace was. Not that the Furnace wasn't awesome, but still. Larger.
18 multi-level dungeons. Multi level? WTF? Can someone explain this for me?
10 new heroes - one per class. Makes sense to me.
40 new armors - 4 per class. Again, makes sense, although seems a bit much.
150 skills. That's 15 skills per class. Uhm... bit small... But I guess they can do this, if they're planning on charging less. Which I don't see why they would, with 18 new 'multi-level' dungeons! ... Does Guild Wars even have dungeons?
50 skills for PvE. Seems like a bit much, that's a third of the skills... Oh. Five per class. Huhm. Possible. I'm not sure how much I like the idea of dividing PvE and PvP even further, but some PvE only skills might - MIGHT - be nice.
Guild Wars 2 - The Search for More Money.
Huh. Hundreds of years. I hope that the ending in Eye of the North has, you know... A huge 'world-go-boom' effect. I can understand why they'd do it many years later - redesign everything, blame it on the world changing. I'd kind of look forward to this.
Zone-wide events: Snazzy? Might be fun to have large-scale PvP with a smaller squad system. Oh. Wait. We have that already...
Multiple races - from ANet's history, I think it's more probable that we'll see a few new races, but no more playable than humans. But I wouldn't rule it out - it just might be a bitch and a half to set up.
Now comes my worries - the 'huge area-battles' - does that mean that instancing is going to be gone? I like the idea of the small groups roaming in the PvE countryside. If they get rid of that, I'll ... I'll cry, damnit! Although I will look forward with baited breath to seeing any new combat system ANet can dream up! (C'mon, melee staves!)

If Gaile told us what was false in the article, she would also be telling us what is true...and GW probably has some sort of agreement with PCGamer to let them give us the exclusive info first, which is why she can't tell us.
