It's random and pretty much the same everywhere.

@Andrew I tried the Undercity (with the Plague up) and used the build that Glorg used for Hell's Precipice, although I would take A/E with Glyph and perma Dark Escape (Kappa hit hard) and it was a 1:30 run that would yield 0-2 chests, Plagueborn and Kappa. So if you want to farm it, it's not so hard.

Mmmhk, i'll give a shot to Kappas. Only concern...how is the chance of getting the Kappa shield (including worthless ones, i mean just get the skin drop), and which are the other things getting out those chest?

If is rare as an echo, and apart that skin there aren't any other drops of interest...i'll figure out why so few persons farm those.

chance to get one = rly rly low
rarer than echovald = by far imo
other drops from chest near kappa = celestial items (many), grinning dragon axe, clouded maul + other canthan/tyrian skinned stuff...

Best way to get Kappa Shields are to just farm them rather than opening Kappa chests, imo. The chests in undercity drop more of the stuff that vermin chests drop and hardly ever any Kappa Shields.

Farm them outside Gyala. 55 monk can kill them easy

finally got that diamond aegis drop from pongmei that i have been hunting for, still missing the iridescent. Still a lot of chests to go to max my lucky title so maybe ill get lucky...

Never had a Diamond Aegis, and I'm closing at over 13k chests on my accounts combined... Still waiting. Had bunch of Outcasts/Echo's/GoTH's/Gothics/Amber/Ornate shields though... But also still waiting for a Diamond/Irridescent

I get quite some Emblazoned's while running in Pongmei, while I almost never get any Ornates, I've effectively gotten more Ambers than Ornates in the past few weeks. I think I got 4 Ambers and 2 Ornates.

That's just my experience tbh, at about 14k chests across 2 accounts.

What my 21k chests have told me:

I'm actually not positive I agree with the Iridescent > Diamond, but it's just too close in my opinion. It all depends, of course, on luck any given day. I've had 3 ambers in less than an hour and then none for a few weeks.

Kappa and Outcast aren't THAT rare, in my opinion, if you're running in the right areas. I think they feel more rare because people don't run them as much. By the way, running for Kappa on noob island is much better, so you can avoid the celestial-related drops (of course, a nice cele wand is never a bad thing :-)) Although, I do agree that farming them off of Kappas is the way to go!

I think it's more Iridescent=Diamond. In my 11k chests, I've never gotten a diamond but I've had an iridescent drop.

For the kurzick shields, from my experience it's Ornate(in gold)>Gothic>Amber>Echovald>GotH

I once had a GotH drop in two consecutive runs and those aren't the only ones that have dropped for me. Imo, anything that is mob specific (like the goth, kappa, outcast) aren't very rare because if you want one, just run those specific chests and you'll have a decent number of them in a couple of days (depending how long you chest run each day

).

One shield that most of you are forgetting about is Spiked Targe! Idk about your experiences but I've had less of them drop than Bladed/Amber/Echovald. They drop from Jade Brotherhood/Am Fah chests. What do you guys think of them??

I actually got a very decent Ornate a q9 tact +45^enchant and -2^stance. Also did some runs last night. 6 runs and I got 3 Echos (two in the same run (both q9s)) I have never seen a diamond drop or iridescent except for a screenie. I say iridescent/diamond>amber>Exalted aegis (only Elite chest for tyrian)>Gothic>Bladed>GoTH>Kappa>Outcast>Echo> ~INSERT MEDIOCRE SHIELDS~

To be honest, Exalted's are not rarer than Kappa per se, but there isn't a good farm to chest run them. If you want to farm them, you'll need to actually participate in the Deep/Urgoz to get them. But once there, they're easier to acquire. The problem with farming them really is that when you want to do an Urgoz/Deep run, most guilds resort to SC'ing them and skipping almost every group, leaving very few to kill for drops.

You can just trade the speed of completion of area (skipways are under 10 mins, an records are 6-7 for deep/urgoz iirc) for killing stuff with a caster spike, slower but still efficent...

I know, but my guild and the guilds I know have no interest in partaking in such an activity unfortunately. Ironically, on a Deep skipway, I got a q9 tac Exalted -3/60 once.

Btw, i think that "chesting" could be possible in Deep, and maybe Urgoz.

Observed some times a chest spawn right in the first aspect room (second if you consider the 4 starting ones) or the following one(where you use recall for activate plugs). With a hero team could be easily possible to clear quite fast the starting room, and the 2 following ones for search that chest, resign and start again. Pure speculation basing about what i've seen tho.

Same for Urgoz, sometimes is possible to have a chest spawing before the first serpent guardian, get it and resign.

Not sure about efficency/spawing rate tho.

Tried that back when Factions came out. It often took 15 attempts to get a chest to spawn, sometimes more. Totally not worth it unless you're desperate or if the spawnrate for the chest has been changed.

^This Exalted are rare from chest because of that reason, no real efficient way to farm them. Kappa shields are rare from chest, I have never seen a drop from them, but i get more of them from killing kappas. and thats right I get tons of Echos, but finding one with a good mod is pretty rare.

Hey there. Was reading this and then I was like oO...Tons? Rly? What am I doing wrong? Not that I tried like 10k chests or anything even close to that, am just getting close to opening 200 chests in Morostav Trail and haven't seen at least one mono purple Echo...so where are the tons you're talking about dropping or what am I doing wrong here? Btw - am zoning from Vasburg, getting killed, ressing in the middle of the map and looking for a chest or two around the res point and sometimes running to the area where Arbor Earthcall is, so am opening like 2-3 chests / run. Is my luck that bad or am I doing the wrong run / wrong area?

Some ideas / suggestions?

Echos are dropped manly from chest near Kirins (Konruu zone in MT for example) than Wardens.

You were chesting in the wrong place. I guess you got a nice bunch of GotH then.

never knew iridescent aegis was such rare shield drop from chests. Found a q9 tact +29 20% blind one 2 weeks ago. Found it while running maatu keep if i'm correct.

I got 2 echos in 1 run. 1Q9strength purple monomod and a q9 gold tactic dual mod. I got screenies. I'd say in an hour of running I get 0-3 of them. Compared to 0 Kappa and etc..

I thought Wardens couldn't drop Echo's, just like Outcast can't drop Emblazoned/Embossed?

Some ideas / suggestions?

When running Pongmei, I get about 1 Echo/100 chests opened. But note that this is 100 chests in Pongmei, this isn't 100 Echovald related chests in Pongmei. If I had to take a safe bet, I would say that about 40/100 are echovald chests, that would be 2/5 chests in Pongmei being Echovald chests on average, which makes a good average imo. This might be a slight overestimation, so let's say 1/50-1/60 chests as a worst case scenario.

Ye, experienced that too here.

That's why i said him that chesting near Sunreach Warmaker won't yeld much echos, those are (should be) warden chests.

wardens do drop echos and other shield skins, its just its hard to get from them because you get armors from their chests as well.

you can also drop magmas in mineral springs with this quest, but the run takes 7-8mn for 4-5 chests so hells precipice > shiverspeak

you have some good rapport to
-hell's precipice
-pongmei valley
-witman's folly => crap drops
-boreas seabed (with quest the alchyon job) is fun (0-3 chest 1-2mn)

boreal is pretty profitable, you will definitely get even but you will never get anything that is exceptionally rare and potentially worth hundreds or even thousands of ectos.

Silent Surf is faster than Boreal, if done right (average ~4,2chests/3mins) and Pongmei is about equally fast. Pongmei generally gives better drops than Silent Surf and can easily be done with multiple accounts for even more chances of good loot.

Also, if you check your weapons for shittyness, you can id the ones that will be good yourself and sell the others unid. This way I'm currently actually making a pretty decent profit when dual account chest running Pongmei. The only things I id myself are shields (unless they are +5x while hexed, then I'll sell unid, depending on skin sometimes for 10-15k), rare weapons like Jugs/Paper Fans, rare staffs like Bo/Plat/Dragon staffs or q9 weapons that are +5 energy, which can usually be sold for about 10-40k a piece depending on skin. Rare martial weapons like Katana's/Broadswords etc that are q9-10 but not +5e, I'll usually id as well, just for the offchance of getting 15^50. But any higher req goes straight to the unid box in my storage.

Also, Elite Tomes give you quite some payback.
