ive ran 900-1000 chests in pongmei so far, got a storage panes full of echos all single modded except one that was 10 vs dragons -2/wstance. That was the most profitable item that dropped for me.

If you're looking ONLY for echo items, i've found quite profitable to do a shorter version of Pongmei: Maatu Keep -> run straight to South -> there's a consistent chance of chest spawning in front of Tanglewood Copse portal or near there, a kirin/undergrowth/dragon moss chest.
Run takes like...40 second, if you get the closest spawn. Only problem is that doesn't spawn 100% of times, and if you do not find it then is faster to restart rather then run rest of the valley.
I like a lot pongmei for the variety of skins it can drop, but cuz atm i'm looking mostly for echo items...well, i'm quite happy of skipping 4 mins of less interesting stuff.
So far seen mostly usual amber crap, a couple of Goth defenders, one echo, holy branches and dragon kamas.... keep going.

I run it dual account (when I run it, which is, not very often lately, since I haven't logged on in for ever). Just split screen (which works even on my tiny 15" monitor). The run takes me a little bit longer than normal though, about 30secs-1min more usually, but since the chest rate becomes 200%, it's easily worth it. You could even triple/quadrupel run it if you have the skills, which I don't. A solo run always takes me like 3:10-3:30 depending on spawns (I always skip the yeti's, spawns are annoying, and drops are not worth it) and a dual run takes me like 4:10-5:00. 5 mins is if I RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO up or go derp somewhere usually. Also, if dual accounting, "BUH!" is a good skill
Also, to answer the q8 question: I've only had purple q8 11-21 staffs drop in Pongmei, and all dropped from the mobs around Tanglewood. Anything else q8: nope. I don't know why this is the case, I also don't care, if you do, ask Yawg, he'll prolly know.

I've gotten a q8 16 armor purple shield in Pongmei from a chest near the Am Fah (round shield skin or something like that) mods sucked so it went to merch.

my comp is too old for dual account running, always wanted to try though :O
also if you do the whole pongmei you usually net 2-3 chests(rarely 0 to 1) at echovald side which is a pretty good minute to chest ratio considering the chest dont spawn every time you zone from maatu keep.

Recently got a new pc and wanted to test out the quality of video i could make with it so decided to make a quick video of my favourite chest run. Not as fast as others but a lot of Echo and other shield drops. I recorded 1 run then add a couple spawn points from 2 more runs. All the spawns arn't in the video but it gives you a basic idea of the run.

By the way, does anyone know an equivalent to Rhea's Crater die/rez run in the Echovald Forest? Where you simply die next to a town with the opposite faction, rez in the middle of the map and get a chest or 2? Would like to do one with 3 accounts
AndrewSX
I've seen a couple of chest spawns that way dieing right outside Varsburg and ressing near kirins (nec boss): never tried to seriously chesting that areas that way tho.

there are two neutral shrines that i usually run , one in drazach thicket and one in morostav trail
for the first one , start from brauer's academy or saint anjeka's , die and then
check the area of the mesmer & necro bosses then die again and go straight to skill eater-pain eater spot , which is quite an interesting one. if u aggro only the kirins just in front of them , 3 undergrowths spawn , 1 by 1. on each one spawning there's a chance of a chest spawning as well. that chest is a great echo dropper ( i've got 60/3 hex and 45/2 ench there)
great advantage of the whole run in absolutely no runes dropping at all
time : 2-3 mins , chests : 1-4
regarding the second one , start from vasburg , die immediately and get rezzed at the centre of the map , the huge opening filled with mosses , kirins etc
just check the spots where stone rains and stone reapers pop and a bit of the surroundings
crazily fast run , always 1 chest and as many as 3 in 1-(low) 2 mins
also , nicer shield droprate that the one i mentioned before
don't bother with warden chests(toward sunreach e.g.) they have high rune droprate , which i don't like tbh
time: 1-2 mins ,chests : 1-3
in both runs running on warrior is highly recommended
on the first because of 30% dp
and on the 2nd , because of too many shoves from dredges= stance killers
personally i run with war+full 7hero party
i might do some vids and upload
if any1 is interested in an in-game demo , give me a call
maps are as follow :
good luck!

these 2 bosses, are they similar to the rt boss in melandru's hope, that you have to agro him to make him pop the hidden chest along with the hidden mobs?
|
to my knowledge chests in those two areas
are always obvious
hidden chest may spawn only at skill-pain eater area
Rice
can someone else confirm that? That nec boss is in a spot very similar to the rt boss in melandrus hope, alone in a pond. The chest in melandru is actually about 80% time hidden, but once u agro the boss, it will pop with the first mob.
Glorg
the chest near the rt boss in the melandru's hope is not always hidden.
For the morostav trail, i've never seen an hidden chest

Thanks Salv! I'm looking for a run to get a lot of Warden though (GoTH/Echo/Gothic/Amber ftw) even if it gets me armors.
Just curious about your DT run. I mean, you die and rez basically next to each other. If you take the southwest exit from Brauer, wouldn't it be better just to run there? No DP and it's probably even faster than dieing + waiting 10 seconds...
I'm currently out of Lockpicks, but I'll try it later on. I would love a solid run where I could get 1-3 Warden chests preferably that I can run with 2 or 3 accounts.
EDIT: I'm retarded, I thought the rez shrine in Drazach was at a completely different location.

No but its hidden most of the times. My estimate is about 80% of the time.

For the Brauer Academy run, is it not better to take warriors / paras with Charge / fall back and go from the southern exit to Drazach thicket and just run to the rit boss, check for a chest and continue running? doing that as a Mo/A I can complete the entire run without rezzing again. The /age is 2 minutes most of the time.

I made a video of a morostav trail run some months ago if anyone is interested. It's just the die/res in middle of map one but shows you the full run if you want warden chests too. I try and give a decent enough commentary.

Yeah... I do same run and it's more than easy to get at least one chest in 1 minute or so. Now, maybe my luck aint good, but the amount of amber crap is overwhelming, let aside tons of holy branches. Out of 200 lockpicks so far I got just 1 (one) gold Ornate shield, crap mode ofc, 4 or 5 grapes and absolute no trace of Echovald, whatever colour...
I guess I stick with it for another 200 picks, then back to old Pongmey...

So, here's a little guide to dual account running Pongmei.
This is the map that I drew using MS paint:
A little explanation to the map:
-Red line: Main route
-Pink arrows: check for those chest spawns
-Blue lines: Shadow of Haste paths
-Green/white orbs: flag position for heroes while getting chests with Shadow of Haste
-I posted the build I use on the map as well. Both accounts use this build. (don't hate on the skill order, I'm used to it)
Okay, so what you need for this is:
-2 accounts that have access to Boreas Seabed and preferably, the build I use
-A bunch of heroes you can take with a bunch of shouts. I use 2 W/P's, 2 Mo/P and 2 P/Rt's basically, the only skill these heroes should have is "Can't Touch This!". The rest is up to you. A bunch of Fall Back's, Incomings, Charge's etc. Just fill up their bars. Preferably you should have the 6 heroes on 1 account, otherwise you'll have to microflag the heroes on the two accounts at the same time, which will be more annoying than just having to do it on one.
-GW Multilaunch
-A computer that is able to run 2 copies of GW
-A working brain (very important!)
Guide:
You should have both copies of GW next to each other on your monitor, I put my main account on the left side, the alt account on the right side of my screen.
Upon entering Pongmei Valley, hit autorun (R) on your main account with the heroes, go to the other screen, select your main account and hit spacebar. Just autofollow your main account, or hit 'closest item' (m on my keyboard) when going towards a chest and hit space then. Your running will basically be done on your main account, using your heroes as a speedbuff.
Important note: because your main account usually has a headstart, and more importantly, heroes are fcking retarded, occasionally, your main account will be without speedbuff for a while while your alt isn't, and your alt will catch up with your main, thus stopping to move. Make sure you recognize this asap and hit spacebar again to follow.
Follow the main route I posted, opening chests and ignoring mobs as you pass. A couple of mentionable chests:
-The one at the Island Guardian with the first pink arrow: if that one spawns, I go around the rock at the west side.
-The one at the Rot Wallows (bitchass chest): when this one spawns (and it spawns a lot), don't aggro the group, but run around it. Go towards the flag spot I drew on the map and flag your heroes there. Cast Dwarven Stability and Shroud, followed by Shadow of Haste on your main account, micro "Can't Touch This!" on one of your heroes, hit closest item and hit space. Cast Dwarven Stability and Shroud on your alt with Shadow of Haste, followed by closest item and spacebar as well, by the time you're done with this, your main will be almost at the wallows, quickly hit Shadow Form + IAU and hit space again, once you've done this, do the same for your alt account. Don't forget to hit space again after you cast spells. Open the first chest, pick up item and stance out, this will usually distract the wallows enough to ignore your alt account, who can easily open the chest and stance out.
These steps are used for pretty much every Shadow of Haste situation, except for this one requires the micro'ing of "CTT!", the others don't. I don't micro anything except for that skill. It's really that easy.
-The chest with the wardens (third pink arrow): if this one spawns, I usually go around the other way, checking Tanglewood Copse first, then checking Maatu Keep, it's preference, doesn't really matter either.
Other important note: most people have no idea how aggro works, or don't know the details, but it's a little bit important doing this to know this shit. When you get aggro something and you want to break it you either have to move faster than the enemies you've aggroed, or shadowstep/teleport a far enough distance to get them to lose attention, this is something everyone knows. Most people don't know the little details though: if you aggro a group, and an ally aggroes this same group before you break their aggro, upon which you move out of aggro range (by for instance teleporting), but your ally still has aggro, you will still have aggro, always. If my alt account holds the aggro, and I run to the far end of the map, touch it and run back, I will still have aggro. So, if I run into the wallows with my main account, grab the chest, but my alt aggroes as well, upon which my main stances out, breaking their aggro, my main account will still have aggro, because my alt has it. Due to this mechanic, they will start running towards you. This is not that important, this happens to me all the time, but the reason I say this is because you should hurry up getting the chest with your alt account. This goes for every Shadow of Haste situation, unless of course your alt aggroes the mobs after you have stanced out. The reason I don't do this is because, when I stance out, I still having aggro, the enemies that had their attention drawn to my main account, will still have their attention drawn to it, ignoring my alt account, granting it safe passage to the chest (at least for a couple of seconds) avoiding bodyblock.
If anyone needs any more questions regarding this, feel free to ask. It's not that hard to master.
Just to give you an idea: I do this run on average, depending on spawns, in about 4:30minutes, I would guess. So, seeing that Pongmei yields 3-5 chests, always, I get 6-10 chests/4:30 minutes, which is quite a good average. I know the yetis spawn chests, but I ignore those because: a.they're a pain in the ass to grab and b. I don't really care for the drops they give that much, except for Emblazoned Defenders. Another note on the chests at the Am Fah/Afflicted (depending on your WoC) in the North-Eastern corner: I usually don't get them unless a chest at the yeti's or the am fah dude on the bridge on the east spawns, I go check. A chest spawns there often enough, but the extra time it takes + general difficulty of getting the chest gives me no interest in getting it.
I also use the exact same build and similar tactics to chestrun this area solo. The only difference really is that I don't Shadow of Haste at the Rot Wallow group at the start, or at the Island Guardian near Tanglewood.
I hope this sparked some people's attention^^

For kappa I either farm them in panjiang or just outside gyla killing kappas.
Or u can chest run in panjiang. I do it with 2 account, 1 main runner and 1 zoner. I enter panjiang from kinya province and run with main runner. Sometimes u get a chest within first few kappa groups. It usually takes 30s to get there. Then u zone back to kinya with ur zoner and repeat. Ofc u can run further pass the first few groups and pass the bridge but its not very efficient.
