Modding your own GW
Asrial
1) Where's the nude female mods?
2) Is there a texture for the FULL map?
Not sure where I'm going with this yet, but just getting an idea for mapping purposes.

The textures used for clothes, face, skin and hair seem to be sort of piece-mealed together in memory. If you mod, say, your top, then you change your gloves, it reloads the original top texture and your change is gone. Altering your charaters appearance will only work if you plan to only wear 1 outfit all the time.
I already made a polar bear mod. I really want to do a panda, but for that I want the existing in-game panda texture, which would require having access to the one quest where a panda shows up. If anybody wants to roll up a canthan noob ranger and play up to that point I'd be greatful. IGN is Ms Massacre if you have that quest and want to contribute to a panda patch.
Gaile- Nothing easier! What kind of kitty do you have? A stalker? You want the whole thing lavender?

This'll be a weird request.
Quartz has high resolution skill icons, but what about...high detailed skill icons? It's a little known secret but we get what I would call "low detailed" skill icons in game.
For example:

High Detail: http://www.guildwars.com/images/prof...lifesiphon.jpg
In-Game: http://gw.gamewikis.org/images/4/44/Fireball.jpg[/img]
High Detail (Harder to notice, their is stuff coming off to the back from the sides: ) http://www.guildwars.com/images/prof...t/fireball.jpg
In-game: http://gw.gamewikis.org/images/5/54/Sever_Artery.jpg
High Detail (sharper sword) : http://www.guildwars.com/images/prof...everartery.jpg

If you can provide me with a set of skill icons you would like to use I could have it done within the hour, just post a link in this thread, couldn't find a full set where you were getting those ones you posted.

Ok i can't seem to get it to work, I'm following this guide 'http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guide_to_modifying_in-game_graphics'
to add the mods wich Ailia has made.
I only want the following mods 'AilHealthv2.tpf' and 'AilRadarv2.tpf', but when i click 'run' on 'texmod', Guildwars will load normally and when I login, I don't see any differences. Do I need to run every single mod of the package of Ailia or am I doing something wrong?
I really just want those 2 mods, so if anyone can help me out here I'll be very thankful.

This looks a lot of fun. But I would like a definitive statement that AN have checked the tool for both spyware and it's use is compliant to the EULA, as I have seen conflicting reports.

" am glad this was resolved happily. And yes, I did respond to your PM about 30 hours ago, but the forum must have timed out because I do not see it in the Sent folder after all. And no, we do not work on the 4th, which begs the question of why I'm here, now, but we'll not go into that. --Gaile 00:33, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
To all modders: It's important to note that the parameters concerning the use of third-party programs do still apply. We cannot condone the use of such programs, and we cannot support the accounts of those who may be negatively impacted in using such programs. That's called the "If it eats your hard drive and blows up your refrigerator, don't call us" policy.
Honestly, though, as previously stated, it is unlikely that we would actively pursue or action those who use such programs in a positive manner, that is, those whose only interest is creating benign mods of our games. Keep in mind that occasionally people get creative and might bring up the use of a harmless program to attempt to mask other harmful activities. We see that with other situations, such as where they say "But I was only using an alternative OS, why was I blocked?" and we discover they are using major bot programs.
If you feel that this creates a "mixed message," then I guess we should discuss that concern. I can understand where the strict "Don't do that" is clearer than "We can't say you can do that, but we won't take action if you do choose to do it." There are some cases where it's not black and white. One example that comes to mind is the use of emulators to play Guild Wars. We develop only for the PC, but others play on other systems and that's totally ok. However, if they develop difficulties, our Support Team is not available to help them resolve those issues. So we don't prohibit the alternative, we simply decline to support it.
What I want to say above all about this matter is that if you're going to mod, have fun, but do stick with the benign and positive uses of the programs and create mods that impact the game only in ways that are fun and harmless. If there's more information to share, I will do so as soon as it becomes available to me. --Gaile 00:33, 5 July 2007 (UTC) "

Yeah man the entire program is spyware, thats why people have been using it for a couple years just fine.
And heres the problem here:
"3. LICENSE TO USE
(…)
You may not (…) (b) modify, adapt, reverse engineer or decompile the Software (…)"
You aren't modifying the software. In fact, you don't even do anything with the software. All the mod does is splice in different images over what is already there pretty much. And you aren't doing the later.
Gaile has pretty much "asked" for a mod, and Emily and Gaile said it was ok, and Emily got here confirm from the freaking FOUNDERS of Anet.
So.
IMO:
HUMAN BEINGS > AUTOMATED RESPONSES
Also:
Ailia, I PM'd you.

By this defnition, whatever is in the .dat file is part of the Software. Now this begs the question, "Is using this mod program modifying, adapting, reverse engineering, or decompiling any of those files in any way?" The last two can be pretty much thrown out, and apparently the program doesn't actually "modify" the .dat file so much as redirect it. But then we have "adapt." What exactly does this mean? Dictionary.com gives the definition...

It's been previously stated that the modding program merely redirects the program to look for another file in place of the one in the .dat; this is verifiable in that running GW without the modding program does not produce the mods. Therefore the original .dat remains unchanged. However, what exactly does "redirecting" the program work? Honestly, I don't have a clue. However, if the mod program changes a line of code, adds something in, or whatever and causes a redirect, then that can be considered modification, and is thus against the EULA. To know for certain whether the program violates the EULA, you would have to know the inner workings of the program and determine whether it changes any of the files installed when you downloaded GW or installed it off the discs.
But if we take the words of those who have posted previously (here and other places), and the mod program leaves the .dat and other files unchanged, then modding would not be against the EULA (or at least that part of it).
Of course, this post by Gaile clears things up considerably for the time being.

It doesn't. It just redirects stuff based on a texture location. Nothing is changed at all, and that is why it is not against the EULA.

I took this idea from that Quartz mod and made a mod with only the health bar upgrade, so now it shows the 50% and 80% mark, for a more effective use of ZB and LoD. Its not very attractive but it does its job.
if you want to use or improve it, download the picture above and open with WinRar, I included the tpf, picture and log file.
edit: been trying different colors, light pink is what looks better to me.
Also, its safe. No trojans or anything lol.

I just want to make sure people are clear about what's at stake here:
Fake modding software is the number ONE method for having your account stolen.
Just thought I would put that in bold clear print somewhere in this thread.
The issue is not the players with programming experience who want to fiddle with the executable and crash their GW for kicks while turning their Koss' afro into corn rows; the issue is those who do NOT program.
Many youth (ages 8 to about 16) are VERY careless about computer security. I help a lot of friends with their home PCs and the number one security breach is their kids. They download all these "cool" gadgets and toys that also install spyware and adware and mess up the memory and processing and completely bog down the machine.
These same guys see a website for "cool" GW mods that allow you to run around with a lightsaber... Ooooh! An opportunity to post a screenie and brag about it to your buddies in the guild. You download it, install it, start GW and true enough, your warrior is running around with a lightsaber.
Unbeknownst to you, the "mod" is also a "trojan." It logs all your key strokes and sends them over the internet to a bunch of bad guys. They read the keystrokes and see when you typed in the e-mail and can see the password typed right after it... They login into your account when you're offline. They transfer all your stuff into one of their chars and then leave you a naked wammo (albeit with a lightsaber).
I have friends in-game who had this happen to them. And then they use your naked character (while you're away) to advertise their site in-game. And when people report the nude dude, your account gets banned, not theirs. It's pretty insidious.
So, to all the young guys who are excited about downloading these mods... DON'T Download any mods off the internet.
Unless you're computer savvy, you're better off without a lightsaber.
