then I got:

Smiting 8
Protection 10
Restoration 10
Spawning 2

... and 8 unused points left.

Is that right?

Since I got Superior Restoration Rune in the Headwrap that gives me only 14 points total. (10 +1 +3)

Also, I got Superior Spawning Rune in the shoes and that gives me total of 5 points (2 +3)

Your guide says:

How do I get Restoration points up to 16 ?

Is there something obvious im missing?

Any tips for beginner farmer like me?

Gear Im using atm:
Basically, I got starter armor and bought me that + 15AL headwrap in Shing Jea Monastery. And im still using Hourglass Staff.

Nice guide and very nice vidoes on teh tuuube kthnxverymuchos.

You might not have the full 200 attribute points that is possible to get. There are acouple quest for getting those extra points on the factions newb island. Check out the Gardens and the Harbor... there is one 15 att quest in both towns.

Problem with farming Djinn's in Hidden city is the the damn mesmers that do damage without triggering Spirit Bond, so it you don't do it just right, they can easily kill you. Another thing, is that the djinn groups have Diamond Djinn's which are paragons, and tend to heal alot. I used to kill everything but the diamonds, but if you got Pain Inverter, you might beable to clear everything out. Still takes along time to kill them. But when I farmed there, or tried it, I used the original build.

I'm trying the rit/monk duo for cathedral of flames. But i'm finding it impossible to kill faze magekiller and his group of charr (the first boss). As his name suggests, i die in 5 seconds. The initial strip enchant (strips my life bond) + bunch of aoe spells that does burning + interrupts = Dead. Any ideas on how to get past him?

Stick in some sort of regen, and maybe a mantra to prevent interrupts. Have a play around, then post the build on here

If you are using my 330hp for the tank... have the monk take Spellbreaker or something, not sure exactly what builds you are using though. But, with Spellbreaker, you shouldn't get anything stripped. Make sure the Monk takes arcane echo too, that should help keep spellbreaker on long enough. But then again, I haven't tried any dual in Cathedral... You could take Pain Inverter instead of RoD, which should kill the bosses alot faster.

And, aslong as you got Spellbreaker on tank at all times, you shouldn't have no problems with casters... unless of course there are signets.

Update Note: I had finally added some PvE skills to the Alternative skills list. Just sucks that Guru doesn't have any skill cards for the EoTN skills, so I was forced to use links instead. I also made a few minor changes through out the thread.

In these forums, a double post consists of any two consecutive posts from the same user. It does not matter whether or not the contents differ -- if no one else's words or opinions come between two posts from the same person, it's a double post. Since the forums are growing extremely fast, and the moderators have limited time, those who ignore the edit button and repeatedly double/triple/quadruple post can have their second, third, fourth, etc, posts deleted without notice, and without having their contents pasted onto the first post as per usual.

Use the EDIT Button
As the EDIT button will never disappear, you can always go back to edit your last post and add new thoughts. The practice of "bumping" is highly discouraged in these forums. If people wish to respond to your thread, they will add their opinions without the need of repeated spammed "bumps." Repeated "bumping" of a thread will most likely lead to the thread's deletion, instead.

I never thought about using the Ebon Battle Standard, thats pretty sweet to cut down the recharge of VwK. Not sure how it stacks with the staffs inherrent 20% HSR but even if the cap is at 50% its great (also at low vanguard ranks).

This might seem like a stupid question, but i just start farming on this game for the first time.

Anways first of all great build and ive been using it alot to make money, how ever i dont seem to make alot maybe 1-2k even when doing luxon quest.

Anyways my question is im i just selling the wrong stuff? the stuff i loot should i just sell everything or salvage and then salvage what i sell? any feed back would be great. thanks in advance

Great build! Thank you so much for it!

Yesterday, I discovered that you can farm the raptors outside of Rata Sum in HM, even the boss. It just takes some careful timing to avoid their interrupts, which is often their first attack since it's a lead attack. I used Pain Inverter instead of RoD.

He's answering separate questions not just blindly posting for bumps - i can't see a problem with his posts nor why your feathers are ruffled. Fair call on the third post (update note -editing the OP would suffice), but Rez is simply being helpful and answering as many questions as he can and keeping us up to date on the latest build. Give him a break...if only more of us were as giving of our time.

Rez - given there are no skill cards for GW:EN, you can get the skill icons and links by using the following format -
[*url=http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Whirlwind_Attack][*img]http://gw.gamewikis.org/images/2/2c/Whirlwind_Attack.jpg[*/img][*/url]

Just copy the URLs of the page and skill icon into the url and img tags. Remove the *'s and you end up with -

Update:This is a monk build for dualing places such as Dungeons in EotN... There is also a 330hp tanker skill set for dungeon use below. I tested it out yesterday, and it worked great with 330hp Tanker for completing Cathedral of Flames dungeon in HM. I also added it to the original build post, but I will post it here for quicker viewing.

================================================== ========
Dualing with Spellbreaker Monk: This is a build for a monk that works great for dualing with 330hp tank. It can be used just about anywheres possible, and can have many variants to fit you farming situation. The monk could also help to free up acouple slots for tanker if needed.

Profession: Mo/Me (Monk/Mesmer)

Equipment:
* Any Max Armor.
* Divine Scar with Superior Divine Rune.
* Any Vigor Rune.
* 2-5 Radiant Insigneas with 1 Attunement Rune
* One Minor Smiting and Minor Protection

* Any weapons or staffs can be used, aslong as you got 20% enchantment mod.

Attributes: Attributes for Protection and Smiting can be adjusted to any amount you needed to fit you situation or skill set.

Divine Favor: 16 (12+1+3)
Protection: 10 (9+1)
Smiting: 10 (9+1)

Template Code: OwUT4yXC5IiLJlnEg5TeyEA

Skill Set: This is the skill set I use for dualing Cathedral of Flames dungeon in Hardmode. I am Sure it can be used in more than a few different places that are suitable. Anything can be replaced if needed. This also frees up a slot for Tank as they don't need to carry Balthazar's Spirit.

[card]Spell breaker[/card][card]Arcane Echo[/card][card]Blessed Signet[/card][card]Purge Signet[/card][card]Blessed Aura[/card][card]Holy Wrath[/card][card]Balthazar's Spirit[/card][card]Rebirth[/card]

Usage:
* Apply Balthazar's Spirit and Holy Wrath upon entering farming area of course.
* Cast Spellbreaker on tank whenever it is needed against casters with Interrupts or Enchant Strips, or anything that would counter the tanker.
* If only one Spell Breaker is needed, there is no reason to stand near by the tank, just move to a safe distance to avoid aggro.
* If you need to use Arcane Echo for Spellbreaker, take off Holy Wrath to prevent energy drainage so you will have energy for the second Spellbreaker.
* Most small groups with casters will only need one Spellbreaker unless there is a caster Boss that has Interrupts or Enchant Strip spells... Most of the time, Arcane Echo won't be needed, as most groups of enemies go down in about 10-15 seconds.
* Use Blessed Signet to regain energy when needed, mainly just after killing a group of enemies. Holy Wrath will drain all the monks energy while taking on a group of enemies... But you will only need enough energy to cast another Spell Breaker when using Holy Wrath, so there is no need to wait for monk to regain all his energy. Otherwise, if you don't use Holy Wrath, use Blessed Signet to gain enough energy for Arcane Echo, Spell Breaker, and the second cast of Spell Breaker.
* If using Arcane Echo for Spell Breaker, make sure you time your second cast of Spell Breaker before Arcane Echo ends. Also, for the second cast of Spell Breaker, make sure you are near by and close enough to tanker... then you can move to a safe location away from tanker.
* Use Purge Signet for after killing off a group to remove all conditions and hexes from Tanker if needed. Purge Signet is best to use as you won't have no energy after killing a group of enemies, and removes everything at once.

330hp Tanker Skill Set (For Dungeons): This is a great skill set for dualing dungeons such as Cathedral of Flames in Hardmode. Pain Inverter is great for bosses, including the last boss. LoD is good for getting the extra treasure chest throughout dungeons for more profit, and it is also good for extra damage, especially against Undead.

[card]Vengeful Was Khanhei[/card][card]Vengeful Weapon[/card][card]Protective Spirit[/card][card]Spirit Bond[/card]

yes, it can be run with a monk in HM UW, albeit without Spellbreaker. IIRC that's stated on the first page.

this is a farming build, riceman. don't play through the game with it. there are plenty of good builds to play through the game with here.

I have a question. If none of the spells rely on spawning, as well as nothing is a spirit or minion, why use a superior rune of that in this build? To me there's no inherent benefit... but increasing something (especially smiting) appears to have a great benefit... I've never farmed but I'm creating this build to start and was just confused by this.

You use a superior spawning rune to have lower health. Any other Rt rune would work.

Well, for start it is just to help get your health down to 330hp... and Spawning does give you little benefit for Weapon Spells. And with 5 spawning I think it gives you around 10% longer durations on all your weapon spells. It's nothing really really useful, but something to add on from spare Attribute points. Plus if you use something like Resilient Weapon, it would give you acouple seconds longer on its duration.... its not much, but its something. And increasing Smiting wouldn't give you higher damage from Retribution unless you put your health up higher... and like he said, you can't put monk runes on a ritualist, if thats what you were trying to say. And if you take off those spawning points, there won't be enough to increase Smiting anyways.

Well, I run this build since you released it and I must admit that it rocks hard in normal PvE areas...but at least for me, it sucks in UW HM..I know that many ppl have those problems, but I never got to the smites so far...

1) Nightmare strips ench and aatxes pwn me before I can get to the body block NPC

2) since the update, the body block NPC is hardly body blocking anything
3) cant get away from nightmares spawning when aggroing aatxes

4) before using Purifying Veil, my journey ended with the grasps, but now its easy..

but gratz gratz, good build, made tons of platinums farming Cantha HM etc..
good job mate

good job mate Yeah, its not the easiest to farm UW with the build. But, I didn't really make it to only farm UW... UW was just something that was possible. I personally don't like farming all of UW anyways. I usually do Smite runs only, which seem to be way more rewarding at a fraction of the time. And the change for the Body Blocking does suck, because it will make the run a bit harder. I am really not sure why they decided to do that so late in the game, since GW been out over 2 years now. Doesn't make much sense to me. I also don't remember anything said on the updates about it, sounds like a low blow by Anet.

I never really took the time to test out Purifying Veil, but it was the only solution to removing Dazed fast enough. It should work, but having to double click can give some people problems. There are some experienced UW farmers that claim to do the UW run with ease, which I can still have a hard time to do still... but then again, I don't farm there much anymore. Those people spend alot of time down there to know the in's and out's of everything possible.

I'm pretty new to this game, only about 3.5 weeks in GW so far, and I'm REALLY new to the whole farming thing, so bear with me. And I apologize if my question has been addressed already, but 24 pages is a lot. . . I've only made it though about 10 so far lol.

First off - I love the build. I'm not amazing with it yet, but already I'm making more money than a 1 month old player probably should be

Here's my main question right now. . .

When farming Fahrunar, The First City HM, at the undead guys after the big stomper thing. I have no problem killing them. But how in the world do you survive bleeding after all the bad guys are dead ????? Too many times now I've killed all the guys and had a long duration bleed on me. . .and sat on the edge of my chair hoping I didn't run out of HP before the spell, just to die at the last second.

Any suggestions? Again sorry if this is a noob question. . .but I'm a noob ><

"Pre-nerf" is incorrect. It's pre-buff.

Requirement Begins With R [notQ]

Me/

@ Farseer,

If you find your health is degenerating between fights, remove your armour pieces with superior runes by dragging them in to your bags. That will grant you +150 health which should buy enough time for the bleeding to expire and for your health to regenerate.

If you have a non-farming armour set with a Vigor rune on it, put that piece of armour on for more temporary health.
