Change to Favor System :wow:

i think anet had just pushed the game one oh wait 10 steps more to a WoW like grindish game....

Rarely have people actually gone in there for favor. It's mostly just fame farming.

At least the e-peen'll finally be amounting to something...

Not really, because those of us who actually gave a flying RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO about titles already have 20+ of them already... and the rest aren't easily maxable.

Thank goodness for GW:EN then. We'll see how many titles that'll bring.

As a PvEer, I enjoyed how PvP influenced my play. It provides some sort of illusionary bridge between the two play styles. Without this bridge, the GW universe is inconsistent.

It should be interesting to see how this plays out; it'd also be harder to keep track of, unless a counter were included in the announcement. Twenty also seems a bit high to wait with maxing titles. At least we still have scrolls.

You know whats painful about this,

Favor.... Favour... /favor gets a response, while spelling it the way many english speaking countries intended gets UNKNOWN COMMAND!

The real problem is not about grammar, but about how the favor system works.

Seriously, Anet, I didn't really agree with the PvP side controlling PvE access, but I didn't know there were more ridiculous options.

QFT. If people start catching on that you can throw lore out the window to fix a game mechanic, things are going to get *very* interesting

Why grind on this game when I can play a whole new one? MAX titles? I wonder what will happen in a few months when nearly every one has their titles maxed.

yea we already have passage scrolls to use anytime we want. I see this as doing two things really... 1 good 1 bad...

1: this makes Ecto farming really hard now in some cases, cause I doubt an ecto farmer is going to grind a character for titles just so they can farm ecto. and this will drop people from HA, Yay. for HA becoming dead... have not liked it since it was moved to PVP battle isle anyways.

2: passage scroll drops will be in high demand as they will now be considered bonus reward items allowing a full party to go to UW or FoW or whatever regardless of the favor system. The end result of this will be skyrocketing Passage scroll prices which needs nipped in the bud ASAP by Anet. Otherwise the gold seller suppliers will use it as their new money source to keep in business.


I look at it this way. get rid of favor entirely and have the passage scroll only... Then add a vendor for them at the end game areas of each chapter... I said thi sin another thread so I dont want to repeat it again, but that will control inflation markets, and provide access to whoever wants it any time reguardless of favor.

simple point is I already play them this way anyhow... I consider UW and FoW both off limits 100% of the time unless I find a Passage scroll someplace. then I save it for an Alliance group to go down and have some hours long fun... I think thats the way it should be...

Scrolls were fine way to give access to those areas... this is... crpa.... WTF is up with the pro-gring thing? Jeez... now we even have to grind for FoW and UW...

How about, make number of wins necesary to gain favor 1?
But each win grants favor for 20 minutes (so people would have enough time to set up for FoW/UW)... Making it possible for multiple areas to have favor at the same time..
Its not a gread idea, but way better than this Maxed Title crap! How many people out there are actually maxing titles out? Think of something esle... This sucks totally...

I think it's a weird change to the Favor system, I'll have to see how this works. I wonder why they just can't open favor for all territories permanently.

Oh i don't like the sound of this. What about players like me who don't like to max out their titles? It was much better before, and not because i live in Europe (ok maybe a bit). Actualy, i don't mind it this way, i don't go to FoW and UW anyway!

well anet. im not stupid, and im not going to pour in hundreds of hours of gaming to get a piece of text beneath my fake alter ego, JUST to get into an area thats got crappy drops to begin with.

doing something over and over sucks ass, and that's what most of these titles are (open a gazzilion chests, kill a gazzilion monsters for sunspear, win a bazzillion AB games, get to level 20 in presear when the means to do so arnt even there).

People who are saying whats gonna happen when ppl max these titles, theyll just add a higher one on top....for someone who has never been much interested in these titles this is awful. Some people like to achieve the max titles, let them go do it, but for me, someone who is happy just acheiving the title as it happens this is just so sad.

I've been playing this game for 2 years now, almost since the day of release and ive never had the compulsion to post on forums about an update till now. You cant change something this big imo two years into the game, this will just shoot new people wanting to go for fow armor in the foot, when in the past you've made it more accessible. Ok yeah maybe other continents dont get favor often, but a long time ago it was the same for europeans.

Please revert.

I've already maxed 15 titles... I don't think I want to max any more. And what of the 15 titles I have already maxed? Do they count? And if not, why not? o.O Its not like i can max them again. lol.

Give them until the end of the Dragon Festival Redux, Anet will fix it.

I propose a change to the Favor system, however still including max titles.

For every max title you have on your account, you get that many times access into FoW/UW per day. For example, if i have 7 max titles spread over my account, I can visit FoW/UW several times a day. Maybe still having to pay 1K access? Also would have to decided whether it effects everyone in the party, or just the person who talked to the avatar?

Just a thought, but I think its a more realistic system then the one they have decided to implement.

Expanding on what someone said earlier, i think /favour should also count towards seeing who has FotG, as it would support the correct spelling in other English speaking countries... like Australia... O.o

they've made some terrible changes before. but this is the worste i've ever seen
you're changing the main fundimentals of the game and now there will be no favor most of the time so you'll see alot of people quit, i've been playing with this new system now for about 3 hours and still had NO favor...

I like how title-getters are announced in all of the major towns. That's neat. I actually had my name announced earlier tonight for completing Legendary Skill Hunter, and got more than a few congratulatory PM's about it. That was awesome.

I like how there's an actual /favor command that does something now.

I don't like that this game is switching to max title grind now. If this is the way it's going to be, can't ANet at least give all the Survivor-failed characters a consolation title? Survivor-like XP requirement on any life - ie. not just the first life - and one that characters who already have Survivor aren't eligible to max out? PLEASE?

Ok it's abudently clear that many of us are not convinced that the max titles will provid us "oogles" of fun in FoW or UW. Rather than complain on here on how ANet's new idea displeases us, maybe we should offer solutions and "force" them to read this or at least any ideas that hit home with a lot of us on here. As I'm sure enough e-mails will get them to notice us and listen.

But anyway here's a few ideas:

1) There are 24 hours in a day, now you can have them provide access to FoW and UW to a region once every so often, like say every 8 hours the time to get into FoW and UW is open for an hour, or better yet once every 6 hours. This way ANet can manage traffic as access to FoW and UW is avaliable only during Mid-day? It would aslo be nice since if you were from Japan and most Americans we're sleeping during what you consider mid-day. It would be nice if they wern't hogging the favor. Same could aslo be said to Europe from America. I Would however say keep the Statues for Blessings avaliable for ALL times. Such majesty... and yet I can never truely be AWED by the Balthazar's statue on fire right outside of Ascalon City. It would also be nice if they appeared inactive but once you got closer they activated, as I'm never near a statue when we gain/loose favor.

2) Well, last time I checked the storyline Balthazar had a half-brother that's pretty much his Evil Twin. Greth contested with Dhuum for his position. Abbadon had an army to fight against thier armies so obviously all 5 gods (now 6 if you include Kormir) have enemies. So instead of transporting you to FoW and UW you must first assit each god in a mission-style fight against its enemies. All regions would be seperate as you would gain favor once you have helped Dwayna, Balthazar, Grenth, Lyssa, and Melandru. Once you have the blessing of all five the region now has the favor of the gods for all intents and purposes for 24 hours or less.

3) You could create objectives for the community to hit to gain favor of individual gods. For instance Balthazar might demand 10,000 foes to die by the hands of his Warriors, Dwayna would ask 1,000,000 points of health be healed (not regenerated), Lyssa would ask for 1,000 hexes to be cast on a profession specific enemy, Melandru would ask for a number of spirits be cast or a number of pets be tamed, and Grenth would ask for a number of health be stolen or sacrificed. Once all five are statisfied the region gains favor use, or just individual gods instead of all of them.

There's are just to name a few...

Favour was a nice little bonus for everyone else though when people went to fame farm, and it occurred much more often.

Ofcourse all the vociferous disagreers are tending to overlook one thing. You can simply buy a scroll and get access. Guess thats too complicated, huh?

Oh gimmie a break people. Stop your girlish whining about the new system; you have been begging for a new system for how long now? I personally think this is a great step in the right direction; taking PVE away from PVP. Indeed, I agree, maybe title MAXING might be a bit hard. But at least they didn't up the cap on how many time your region won HOH to gain favor or something else that's totally lame. It has always been my express opinion that PVP should never influence, or be connected to PVE. Ever.

Again, I think this is a step in the right direction. But it is also so very typical of you Guru posters to whine, and complain when they finally do FIX the problem you've been whining, and complaining about for so long.

I'm just glad America actually held favor last night at a reasonable time. Some of us work in the morning.

Now eveyone has equal chance to access UW or FoW.
Read: no one can access UW or FoW.
Soon protector/LB/SS titles will run out. I already maxed them out a long time ago.

currently, the favor system seems to be working well imo. titles are getting maxed fast enough that there's plenty of uw and fow time. i'm not sure how long this'll last however, so we'll just have to see.

Except, this is not a "fix". It's a swapping of one "happenstance-that-has-absolutely-nothing-do-with-you way to access for FOW/UW" for another "happenstance-that-has-absolutely-nothing-do-with-you way to access FOW/UW." An exchange of one problem for another.

A fix would be to fix the problem, period. Not exchange the problem for a similar kind of problem. Which is what this Favor change has done.

so, we need 175200 maxed titles in year for all time favor.
We will see how many REAL players is in GW in next days.

FAvor should EASE entrance to FoW and UW and using statues, not being the only way to get them active in explorables.

People should really give this a chance before they start complaining. I don't know how well it'll work, but I welcome a change to the Favor system. I, for one, am willing to give this a shot and see how well it works...or not. Besides, Anet says that even more titles will be added.

Yeah because everyone who plays this game wants to waste there time maxing Sunspear/Lightbringer on 8+ different characters... or wants to spend there time mapping everything on 8+ chars... or wants to do Hard Mode on 8+ chars... or wants to spend several million getting the gold sink titles on each character...

Then your lucky... from what i read before i went to bed, people were getting abused by morons when they got a title.
