Anyone interested in sharing builds for the Norn tournament?
I ran into this Monk build on wiki and with a little practice I beat it several times!

You can't see me
There's a very simple trick to it.
Run a Domination/lllusion Mesmer. Elite: Ineptitude, make sure it has backfire on it, and play around from there. Those two skills are the ultimate counter for casters and meleers alike. Play around with your other 6 skills, see what works. (Oh, and do make sure to have enchantment removal. Shame/Guilt works well with Dannika also).
The main person that gave me beef with this build is of course, dannika and her two pets. This is because you have three targets indtead of one, and dannika has three heals. My advice to this is to carry energy burn and Diversion. Divert her healing skills, and while their down, just level her pets. Battling her alone is very easy, especially w/ backfire and diversion.
It takes a bit of practice but whatever, the main thing to remember is to use your head.

[skill]elemental attunement[/skill][skill]earth attunement[/skill][skill]kinetic armor[/skill][skill]ebon hawk[/skill][skill]stoning[/skill][skill]obsidian flame[/skill][skill]Rending Touch[/skill][skill]mystic regeneration[/skill]
Edit: Ty dies like fish. It works now
Well, here it goes: always keep up the attunements for energy.
Kinetic armor and mystic regen give you excellent defence.
Keep casting to keep Kinetic armor up.
Attack:
1.) Ebon hawk: Eat rock
2.) Stoning: Eat rock and kiss dirt
3.) Obsidian flame: Eat rock.
Repeat until target is dead.
Somewhat difficult: Mhenlo needs to be stripped from his enchants, make sure you don't remove your attunements in the process.
Gwen can be hard because she interrupts everything. Try to finish her off quickly.
It's quite fun to play because most enemies do no real damage to you.

Any good builds that would work with a ritualist? I've managed to get pretty far, but there's always one or two characters that give me trouble (mostly Danika and her cronies).

16 Sword, 9 Curses, rest in Tactics.
For those warriors having a hard time. Because the Deadly Riposte/Riposte/Grenth's Balance build doesn't really work against the challengers before Bison.

Spawning Power 12+1+3
Channeling 11
Communing 11
Equipment: doesn't really matter, energy is most important though.
Usage: Once the gate lowers, step forward to the second metal bar on the ground. Cast Boon of Creation, Ritual Lord, Bloodsong, Pain, cast Fury on the Spirit of Blood Song, cast Bloodsong again, Shadowsong, Dissonance, then cast Painful bond on the target and run back a bit so they come to spirits, then let the spirits kill them. Works against all enemies although Magni the Bison may sometimes require a second casting of Shadowsong to keep him blind as he sometimes lives through the first Spirit of Shadowsong's duration.

Your build is looking good but I don't quite get the part where you say Grenth/riposte doesn't work against the challengers.

This build can beat all of the challengers, short of Danika (she might be possible, just didn't get to practice against her often)
I'm not taking credit for the build of course since it goes all the way back to the Great lambda's SF solo build.

I haven't tried much, managed to win twice. I get pwnd by Alesia (which is kinda embarrassing, Danika, and couldn't kill Eve so I gave up there. My fight with Norgu dragged on a bit, but I managed to drop him eventually. Important to keep prot spirit up as much as you can in the end.
I also tried switching [skill]Signet of rage[/skill] for [skill]ether feast[/skill] for a self heal, which worked pretty good. Signet of rage does give you slightly higher damage output, especially against the warriors.

It's pretty flexible though, I just wouldn't recommend using sup runes, you need the HP.

In preview weekend opponents stood still but now they start attacking as soon as you enter the arena. Therefore cast BoC before entering the arena then wanderlust (just inside the arena), stop the foe with "you move like a dwarf" and use summon spirits to draw spirits away from bison when he starts pounding them, if necessary.

I'm not taking credit for the build of course since it goes all the way back to the Great lambda's SF solo build. What if you're blind? The only thing you have to stop blindness is Savage Slash, which has a 20 sec recharge time. Condition removal is so helpful in this tournament.
Oh, and because the generic Riposte/GB build doesn't include interrupts.
Your build might work, but I haven't had any trouble with any of the opponents with my build. And might I add that mine might be faster against non-melee opponents.

I've easily defeated everyone I've come up against, but so far I have not yet encountered: Ghostly Hero, Palawa Joko, Morgahn, Old Mac + Joe. I don't think they will pose any difficulty as the strategy is almost always the same.

*This build uses skills from all three campaigns, including Sunspear skills. My Sunspear title is at level 9.Summon Shelter as soon as possible before the fighting starts. Run into the arena and summon Vampirism. Apply Insidious Parasite -> Spiteful Spirit -> Enfeebling Touch -> Parasitic Bond to the target. Parasitic Bond isn't entirely necessary, but is an emergency heal if the opponent isn't defeated quickly. Spam Necrosis (and Enfeebling Touch) until the target is dead. Use Signet of Lost Souls only if necessary for healing and to regain energy.
Special Notes: Cyn uses AoE damage, so move away from the Vampirism spirit so not both of you take damage. For Danika and her pets, I put Spiteful Spirit on her first, then Insidious Parasite on one of her pets and spammed damage on it until it was dead, then when skills were recharged, repeated the same entire strategy for the second pet, then focussed on Danika when she was left alone. Magni uses Purge Signet, so after the Vampirism spirit is up, cast Parasitic Bond first so he wastes his signet, then proceed with step 3 above. You will most likely need to use Signet of Lost Souls before he is dead. Make sure to have at least 15 energy in reserve to quickly re-apply Insidious Parasite if he re-uses Purge Signet before he is defeated.

Your build might work, but I haven't had any trouble with any of the opponents with my build. And might I add that mine might be faster against non-melee opponents. IIRC there are only 4 challengers that use blind.
Kisai is easy and somewhat rare, the blind comes from the glittering mark, just interrupt the second one, when you're lowish on life for a sure kill from GB + melee.
Vang runs out of En very fast, he wont be blinding you anymore about 30 sec into the fight.
Gwen's sig of midnight is somewhat hard to interrupt, but you only need to interrupt it once to kill her. Even if you miss it, as long as you're careful with your healsig, she can't kill you.
Panuku's blind is really short, and he'll be more than happy to die to the deadly ripostes if you're short on adren. Not an issue against him.
Oh yeah I guess there's a fifth one, Zethuka, just don't step into the dust trap =p.
This wasn't a "my build > your build" post you know (esp since I'd be foolish to claim the Grenth/riposte as my own). I was just genuinly curious. I guess the savage slash does make all the difference. I'm sure the spinal shiver build works way better on casters. It can take up to 2 minutes to beat Norgu and Eve with the one I posted. Faster against casters, slower against melee, looks like it's a toss up between the two.
I heard that Ursan blessing makes short work of the tournament. There's no point in arguing over obsolete builds now is there ? =p
On a side note, I never got Dunkhoro or Pawala Joko to spawn against me. What do they use ?

i have yet to meet dunk, and joko appears in place of bison in the final round, as a lvl28 with 2 lvl 15 undead add ons which do suffer from conditions. i was to busy killing the add on cause in preview you could win by either killing main opponent or the add on but i guess it changed or you have to beat both adds.

Well, here it goes: always keep up the attunements for energy.
Kinetic armor and mystic regen give you excellent defence.
Keep casting to keep Kinetic armor up.

1.) Ebon hawk: Eat rock
2.) Stoning: Eat rock and kiss dirt
3.) Obsidian flame: Eat rock.
Repeat until target is dead. Does that build work for Magni? It worked great on everyone (except Joe + Mac, BHA owns me) up until I finally reached Magni. I couldn't interrupt his bear form because he casts it right away at the start and I need 3 seconds to use ebon hawk+stoning to knockdown and interrupt the bear form, but bear form is only 2 seconds casting. So, now I'm at a disadvantage because he has bear form on and is doing extra damage, and then his devastating hammer ends up knocking me down at some point causing me to miss re-casting in time for kinetic armor, losing kinetic armor causes him to be able to out-damage +6 mystic regen, and I die.
Edit: Ty dies like fish. It works now
Well, here it goes: always keep up the attunements for energy.
Kinetic armor and mystic regen give you excellent defence.
Keep casting to keep Kinetic armor up.
Attack:
1.) Ebon hawk: Eat rock

3.) Obsidian flame: Eat rock.

Anyone got any good secondary profession builds that would work for any primary?
I had a great rit spirit spammer build until they bloody changed the Arena so that the opponent rushes you instead of waiting to be aggro'd.
Thanks,

[skill]Burning arrow[/skill][skill]Distracting shot[/skill][skill]Savage shot[/skill][skill]Mending touch[/skill][skill]Natural stride[/skill][skill]Troll unguent[/skill][skill]Apply poison[/skill][skill]Nature's renewal[/skill]
Before entering the arena, put up Natures Renewal behind the wall so that when the door closes the opponent can't reach the spirit.
Now for most opponents, run along the right wall, the opponent will go after the spirit (which he can't reach) then just fire burning arrow with apply poison and watch them degen, when they come running for you, run away and they will go for the spirit again. Reapeat and make sure to interupt heals.
Some casters are easy to simply plow through and kill without the sppirit trick, but the effect from the spirit will help you none the less.
The spirit trick works well on the last opponent as well, just fire a burning arrow at him whenever possible and keep him running between you and the spirit hitting neither. At the time when his form drops one or two more burning arrows will finnish him.
Enjoy

[skill]Burning arrow[/skill][skill]Distracting shot[/skill][skill]Concussion shot[/skill][skill]Needling Shot[/skill][skill]Pin Down[/skill][skill]Sloth Hunter's Shot[/skill][skill]Apply poison[/skill][skill]Favorable Winds[/skill]
Usage:
Start by precasting favorable winds and apply poison before the gate goes down.
For most melee characters: Open with pin down. Then pound them with burning arrow and slothhunter shot while they slowly limp towards you. d-shot or c-shot their self-heal (according to whether it is a spell or not). Under 50% health, start pounding with needling shot. In the unlikely event they outlive the pin down or actually reach you, just pin down again, run away a bit, and repeat.
For casters: Using a longbow or flatbow, open with burning arrow, and queue c-shot while it's activating. Done properly at longbow/flatbow range, this should make sure that c-shot hits their first spell and dazes them. Fire regular arrows for a few shots to interrupt everything they've got as they cycle through their whole skillbar. Then switch to burning arrow and slothhunter, then needling to finish them off. (Start with regular arrows because, if you try to use burning/slothhunter before they've tried all their skills, they might slip a spell through during your long activation time - which can screw you if it's Kasai or Eve.)
For Tydus/Morgahn: You have superior damage, so just make sure to interrupt their heals to win. You might d-shot apply poison if they give you an easy opportunity.
For Bison: Once you're done precasting, move up to the door and run at Bison as soon as it drops. If you're quick you can get into longbow/flatbow range and hit bear form with d-shot. Regardless of whether or not you stopped bear form, you've just poisoned him so he will use purge sig. Once he uses it, hit him with pin down. Pepper him with burning arrow and slothhunter until he gets close to you, then run away and repeat. Reapply pin down when it wears off or after you fail to interrupt a purge. If he manages to purge while pin down is recharging, just run until it recharges - at most he will get in 1 hit while you're firing. Reapply apply poison only immediately after a pin down (you don't want to get caught applying poison when his crippled wears off). Don't bother recasting favorable winds. Needle under 50%.
Sometimes he will focus on favorable winds (which is behind a wall) or just lose aggro for awhile for no apparent reason. Take the opportunity to renew apply poison and pound him with damage. Wait until he starts coming towards you again to use pin down.
For Melonni/Kahmu: If you come running out of the gate, as you would for Bison, you can d-shot their forms. Don't pre-queue d-shot though, because they don't always use their forms immediately.

Ive been running this W build for awhile and it seems to work out just fine. Mesmers are the only ones that you have to be somewhat careful with. Since Gwen blinds, you just keep hacking away until you get your Brawling Headbutt charged and time it for Signet of Midnight. Same with Argo but time it to Stoneflesh Aura.
Attributes are flexible: roughly 10 sword, 11 Str, 12 Tac
Dragon Slash {E}
Brawling Headbutt
Reposte
Deadly Reposte
For Great Justice
Doylak Signet
Heal Signet
Flail or Drunken Master
To add some humour you can take out one resposte and replace with one of the Asura summons.

Feral Aggression should be able to take out most of the challengers. Shoot one arrow and immediately follow with Distracting shot to interrupt his bear form. Cast Faintheartedness. Wait for him to remove it before using enffeble. Sit there and absorb a few hits. Wait until you get within one hit of death, and cast Grenth's Balance. Now, run around and kite him while GB recharges. When it does, keep absorbing damage until you almost die. It should take 4 or 5 GB's to take him down.

OMG, I finally won with my Ele
This worked really well, even killed Alesia.
Necrosis
Parasitic Bond
Grenth's Balance
"You Move Like A Dwarf!"
Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support
Shock
Gale
Aura of Restoration
Use the dwarf shout to knock them down and interrupt, use shock and gale also as needed if they have lots of annoying skills you want to interrupt; use parasitic bond at the start of each battle and spam necrosis until they either die or your health gets low enough to justify using grenth's balance, and then a couple more hits of necrosis should finish the job. Summon the vanguard asssassin anytime you want to get a nice little burst of damage and have your opponent stop damaging you for a few seconds while it focuses on the assassin.

Ursan Blessing rips through every opponent with ease, I'm still working on magni but I assume that if bear form is inturupted then he'll go down fast.

any1 have a good dervish build?
ive experimented with a 130 dervish build but i keep running into problems. Im sure i can take out magni but getting there is hard, i usually get mesmer spawns or something that ends up killing me.

[skill]Painful Bond[/skill][skill]Anguish[/skill][skill]Pain[/skill][skill]Wanderlust[/skill][skill]Bloodsong[/skill][skill]Union[/skill][skill]Shadowsong[/skill][skill]Displacement[/skill]
Cast Union and Displacement in the waiting area, step up to the line but don't cross it or your enemy comes running. Cast Pain, Wanderlust, Bloodsong, Anguish, Shadowsong (notice those that live longer get cast first), then cross the line, have your enemy come running, cast Painful Bond ... and on to the next level.
I usually placed my entire bunch in the right corner of the doorway, basically right on the front line of the entrance door, it seems to avoid a blind spot. One exception is Razah, if you get him, sprint out, cast Anguish within his range, hex him with Painful Bond and move out of his range.
If you get the heavy ele hitters, step away from your spirits or they get AoEed. I just hexed and kept moving from the left to the right wall and back.
Shadowsong is reasonably important for Bison Man, and in his case, I kept recasting spirits, just in case, plus obviously rehexing.
Last but not least, it's 12/12 Channeling/Communing, so any /Ri will do. Weapon sets are your friend, being able to switch to +15/-1 and back helps.

E/X
Fire Magic 16 Water 9 or above and the rest in Energy Storage.
Recommended gear is:
1. Caster Weapon (Sword/Axe) w/ 20% longer enchants, +5e
Flame Artifact offhand w/ whatever you want. (I use Korr's Flame)
2. 20/20 Wand and the same offhand
And if you want to get really fancy bring a 2x 15/-1 Set to make sure you finish off Magni.
Does the Entire tourny including Magni in ~5 min. Everyone except for Magni should drop within 10 seconds of the gates opening.
Usage: Put up Fire Attune and Flame Djinn's before the gate opens.
For Melee opponents, throw up Mist Form as soon as they start running at you, followed by glyph and meteor shower. Make sure meteor shower drops when they are ontop of you, or youll screw up the entire chain. Follow up with bed of coals, frozen burst, flame djinns and finally flame burst as quickly as the prior skill is done casting. Be careful with the aftercast delay for PBAoEs cause you dont want to mess up the cast order.
For Casters, you dont really need to throw up Mist Form, but it doesnt hurt and you will probably just do it on as a habit anyways. Run straight up to them (recommend using a sword/axe with caster stats) with flame djinn's and unleash the chain in the exact same order. (2/3/4/5/6/7)
None of these enemies should really get you below 80% health. The only ones you might wanna watch out for are Zho and Old Mac. Make sure you put up your enchants before engaging, as well as putting up glyph before they are upon you. You can ussually finish them off without unleashing the entire chain but watch out for interrupts nonetheless.
For Magni you need to do this in 2 steps. Throw up fire attune and flame djinns out of the gate, run near him and 'aggro' him. While hes putting up bear form throw up Mist form. But make VERY SURE that you dont glyph or it will only take you longer. Start casting meteor shower on him and by the time hes on you it should be dropping. Again DONT USE GLYPH FOR THE FIRST CHAIN! Meteor shower all the way down untill Flame Burst. You will only take him down to about 50% health after the first chain so you need to kite him untill meteor shower recharges. (this is why you dont glyph, cause it will merely take you longer to bomb him again) While MS is recharging, you should be kiting him with Flame Djinns on. My technique involves me wanding him a couple of times, and before he gets near me I run off to the side a bit. He will break aggro because of your increased movement speed and run back to his gate. Rinse and repeat for the 45 remaining seconds it takes you to recharge MS (Recommend putting a 20% HSR Wand on before casting MS, you might get lucky) Be extra careful not to let him get to close, as he can probably kill you in his 2 hit combo before you have a chance to stand up and run away. Once you have MS recharged, put Mist Form back up, glyph then continue down the chain again. He will most likely be defeated after the second chain if you do it all properly.
I have never lost using this build unless I get antsy and let Magni get too close while im wanding/kiting him.
Oh and if you recognize the build.. its an old Mist Form troll bombing build

I've got nothing for Bison, but since I didn't see an Assassin Build, this one beats everyone else.
1. Siphon Speed
2. Iron Palm
3. Black Spider Strike
4. Horns of the Ox
5. Impale
6. Signet of Toxic Shock
7. Open
8. Open
If someone has an assassin build for beating Bison, I'd appreciate it. This one is my AB build, thus the holes in it. Easy to run though. Siphon Speed slows them down with a hex. Iron Palm does great damage and knocks them down. Black Spider Strike poisons and hurts them as they get up. Horns of the Ox knocks them down and hurts them. Impale does massive damage as they get up. Signet of Toxic Shock finishes them before they can cast. Basically kills everyone easy except Bison. Note: I have never faced Danika, but if she's like Old Mac, forget her pets and kill her and you'll win.

I also have problems using derv builds to win the tourney. After a couple of tries, I decided to use ursan blessing instead. I combined that with pain inverter and managed to take down almost anyone with the first 4 or 5 bear strikes. Then Magni came along and absolutely crushed me. I remember trying for like 7 consecutive times and each time I would breeze through the first 5 rounds (except for one when it took me ages to beat mhenlo) only to be owned by magni. I even tried kiting and waiting for his bear form to wear off only to realise that his hammer skills are equally devastating!
Desperate, I decided to follow some of the advice here and equip myself with rit spirits instead. I cast Pain, Anguish and Displacement before gate opened and then repeat the pain inverter + bear form thingy and finally managed to best him. =)

Ok, I don't see anyone post the Paragon solo yet. I based this build from some of the solo builds from the Paragon section so I won't take any credit for it. I have taken out some skills here and there.
With this build you can go up against both caster and melee easily. Start the battle with Finale of Res then Soldier's fury. Depending on the enemy, if you're fighting a caster use "you move like a dwarf" follow by Awe for kd & daze, after that just let your spear do the talkin'. Keep spamming GotE for energy.
For melee, start of the same use dwarf shout to kd & cripple him/her, then barbed spear, blazing spear then maiming to cripple the enemy again. You can also use you move like a dwarf to interrupt their healing, healing sig or alike.
Pretty much the same with Bison, but remember to keep your distance and keep moving, moves like a butterfly sting like a bee. He'll be cripple all the time from dwarf shout & maiming spear and won't be able to hit you at all.
Take some getting use to but can easily be done.

Burning Arrow, Savage Shot, Disrupting Shot, Apply Poison, Mending Touch, Troll Unguent, Natural Stride, Pin Down.
Went in with a pretty standard Burning Arrow build. You'll wreck most opponents, the blindbot can be annoying though, and Lukas is if you don't d-shot his healing signet. Bison takes some a lot of kiting and frequent use of pin down and natural stride to escape his 300 damage bitchslaps, and you need to keep him poisoned so he degens to death. Not to hard, but a stupid move gets you killed.
