Costume Brawl! Opinions?

Hero Arena with human players = shitter than Hero Arena.

It's alright, but I wish there was a TA-based version too. My last couple teams seemed to be unable to grasp some very simple tactics. Every team I've been in we've faced a sin, and almost every time my teammates would insist on disengaging the rest of the opponents in favor of chasing the sin around while he used speed and defensive buffs and heals... ugh.
Tactics people... tactics... just because the sin is almost dead doesn't mean you should chase him across the entire map to try and finish him off...

I've never had so much fun in any pvp as I just had in CB. I had an awesome team we rocked, everyone knew what they we're doing and when to do it.

I think it's a fun little holiday mini-game. Which is exactly what it's supposed to be.

I have been having a good time playing... I would like to see a variation brought into play on a regular basis.

Essentially it's just another step down from TA and RA. In team arena you choose a party and builds, in random arena you just choose builds, and in costume brawl you don't choose anything. It's fun though, and it's a good way for new players to get a taste of PvP without any real requirements at all...

Ritualist bar is absolutely kick-ass. The only things that can take me on one-on-one are Mesmer and Ele, and they're supposed to do that anyway.
Pair me up with a Melee class = You lose.

Must say I enjoyed it about as much as I can enjoy PvP. Only played once, but my team made it through a couple of rounds.
It just has the usual problem I have with PvP - the rewards aren't worth the time.

It's ok.. xD
Think it's the only event-time game that i've played and not get annoyed by.. o_o;

I love the costume brawl, i've been having so much fun with the AoD sin. make your anchor point at a shrine if possible and then run around the map and cap, and then cancel AoD if you need to recap the shrine or flee to heal. for notes i think falling lotus works perfectly wiht that bar.. keep energy up with it very well.
i wish this would become a permemet addition to pvp, i absolutly love this format.

The highlight for me is playing on my derv and using rending touch on a sin's AoD, sending them halfway across the map away from me and my team rocks
Kabroz the necro
Nah, not needed. People who says monks are lame, haven't tested them.
1.We had party with 4 monks and Rit = 14 in row, ended since one leaved.
2.2 monks, 1 derv, necro and ele. 7 wins, this one: http://bayimg.com/laHKAAabM

I like it. I think the Derv skills are good. Had 13 consecutive wins. A strategy we used was, I would go one way, and act as bait, while the others went another way and capped shrines. The other team would see this lonely guy and go for me. Worked everytime.

I think it's a fairly good newbie gametype. It's like playing the templates before you unlock anything, except attributes and runes are also locked and even if some of the templates are bad at least everyone else is stuck with the same thing. It's much better than anything else available for someone new who's still trying to figure out what to click on, much less how to get his skills and attributes in order.
Not sure why they went with the crappy Hero Battle lookalike, though. Haven't they figured out that format is terrible yet?

I love the ranger build. easy, fun. and you can be quite annoying to casters and melee!
I usually win the first 3 rounds, but then we find this team that is well coordinated enough to be like on TS or sumthin :P
All in all, I love the Costume Brawl. I don't mind the reward, I get halloween items w/o farming 3 of this, and 3 of that ^_^

I didn`t like it too much, tried on Necro and lost big time (i never play Blood Magic) activeted my old ranger and yeah it`s better but still lacks fun, in every single team i had atleast one quiter!
And why did i thought that we can choose class we play ???

Tried this Costume Brawl and liked it. Main reason is its something new and different.

Great fun! It changed my usual water skill bar to a more fire based, wanted to try for a while (yeah I know, what was I waiting for? )
Though my impression is that it is higly dependent on the luck of the draw, whether you have a "good" team. Did 7 wins thanks to a great player managing the team. Even in the last game, we were only four and keeping well with 8 kills.
I guess that it's a lesson from PvP: coordination is essential. Like in the army .

Mhenlo's smiting build gives monks a bad name =[
*or i just suck at smiting*

It was fun having a new look and animations, but the fighting bored me to tears. It would have been better picking your own teams and coordinating with them.
Count to Potato
I tried mesmer and it is by far the best build, shatter enchant counters the AoD sin, empathy makes nub warriors kill themselves energy surge and interupts screw with all the casters, very easy to play as mesmer
Qual
I like it, it's okay

I had fun with it. I used a pvp ritualist (I don't really play ritualists), and I managed to get a real good team on my first try. We got like 8 flawless and 24 consecutive wins before I decided to quit due to boredom. There were even a few matches when we were one man down.
pumpkin pie
first day I was happily searing my opponents and steaming them and gotten away with it in many consecutive wins
second day into the brawl, pretty different as a lot of players has gotten a hang of the skill bars, now you have 50/50% chance of encountering a good assassin who knows to interrupt your steaming and knock you down. warriors now know not to get close to you when they gets steam. (speaking as an ele)
There are many good monk with the pre-assign smiting build, they also manage to heal their team mates while smiting and are much harder to steam them to death than warrior.
I only hope they have included "throw dirt" for the ranger skill bar, that would make the rangers skill set sort of invincible if you know how to use it. i would say take out pin down as the map isn't that big to need you to pin down any opponent. Ranger can be quite deadly to the ele as they have 2 interrupt skills. be smart, don't run into an elementalists who has full energy bar thinking you can take them down, or you'll be dead even with the 2 interrupts.
I must say i do not know how to use the ritualist skill bar yet, but some good ritualist players have manage to use it quite effectively and will render you dead within seconds (at 5k pings that is, stupid laggy IP)
so overall, I think the Costume Brawl are very successful.
Lastly, I still say read the skill bar, and go in with the profession that you know how to play the most.
BE COURTEOUS! don't shout at a level 3 in the brawl because they are low level, I think they become the hero/hench, meaning they have the same skill and energy and health as the rest of the players. (i am saying this because there's an incident where there's this player who shouted (caps) at a level 14 aksing why they had enter the game ??)
Happy days!

I tried the monk build and it works just fine, I'm not sure why people think it sucks they can hold their own against alot of the classed and if you go into melee range and use smite hex/condition you can release a steady stream of armour ignoring pbaoe damage.

And if you did look a bit what some of the content from the trick or treat bags can be sold for, you would not come with such a silly statement.

I guess many people here cannot unlock or do anything with faction anymore.
I would like to donate my excess faction to the balthazar fund for new players...^^

Played now with 2 other sins in my team, that was hawt. Punny Warriors chasing you the whole map only to realize that you had AoD on yourself and now you're far, far away capping shrine.
