What is the most pathetic scamming attempt that you encountered?

What is the worst and stupidest scamming attemt you encountered?? I was selling a req 9 Stormbow perf for 75k.... the buyer agreed, and put in 75g and tried to convince me to press accept.... lol...

if you're sleepy you might fall for it... but this is the bottom i've reached...

This guy is the worst scammer ever.

I was selling a tormented shield.

This person asked to go outside, soon as I spawned outside the person had cast [wiki]recall[/wiki] on me, and they requested that I drop my high end item on the floor while I was far far away so they could see it.

Lol

I had someone that wanted to do this once. The first time I had no idea about what he wanted to do so I dropped my item (noob weapon, had many of those greens so it wasnt a big deal). Few days later same guy (me on other profession) wanted to take another try so he went outside and asked to throw it on the ground. I Refused and he said if I dropped he would pa 100k for my item. This time I just left and blocked him.

I hate scamming retards who are too lazy to fight for their own gold etc.

me: "oh yea sure - just let me sell some stuff at the merchant"

he didn't wisp me again

was selling destroyer sword, guy complains about some bad lag and tells me that he can't see stats in trade window. after that he asks me to die which will stop his lag (lol!). i'm a good soul so i do it, he ress me with unyealding aura or how'd you call it. at that point i leave him

2 hrs later, he pm me again, and he tells me he's sorry. he want to trade it for an "über-rare thing which you can't get anymore". he trades me and offers a frozen ecto at that point, i ignor him

The big scam is that luxons are cool >.>

All pretty much same story. Someone wanted to help me dupe an item. Asked me to go outside and drop it. I dropped an item and they shadow stepped to me and grabbed it. They then laughed at me for being a noob.



THEN they opened their inventory and saw their brand new bone.
THEN I laughed at them and they told me they were going to report me to Anet. So i laughed harder

One of the most stupid things I constantly keep on doing - is forgetting that I can't trade stuff directly from my Storage! I always end up transferring stuff directly form the Storage window to the Trade one and then I always end up with something like "It's not working! What are you doing? We should try something else! ....".
IF I am lucky it hits me what stupid thing I am doing BEFORE the interested party leaves me thinking I am just another scammer ....

JUST a heads-up though so that people don't need to write about my stupidity ....

Also someone in Kamadam tried to sell me a super rare brand new gem material called a "Luminuos Stone"

If your going to try to sell basic drops as rares don't do it in the nearest town to where they drop

Was selling a Mini Lich in Kamadan a few weeks ago and a D/A pm'd me saying he's interested. Invited me to team and refused to talk to me about the sale 'til I accepted.

Me: Hi. <amount I was selling it for> okay?
Them: I've heard these have been duped and I want to do a test to make sure it's the real thing.
Me: Uh, okay? O_o
Them: We need to go outside, I'll make sure I'm far enough away from you and you'll drop it, then I can do the test
Me: Uh... How about no.
Them: OMG DUPER DUPER!!!! I'm going to report you for duping! Unless of course you sell it to me for <half price>
Me: ...
Them: OMG YOU REALLY ARE A DUPER
Me: How about I report you for scamming instead?

Someone wanted to buy some elite tomes and he told me he'd offer a very rare mini. So I take a look at whatever he has to offer, and he offers ... a Ceratadon..

This was at the 2nd day of that promotion, so pretty much everyone and their mom was running around with one of those, yet he kept trying to convince me that it was an uber rare mini worth a lot more than my elite tomes.

He stopped trying when I showed my ceratadon..

A scam I got was a runner from becons to droknar's for 3K. He made a full party and then left and started making a new party. I reported him to anet but they replied that, if someone had not fulfullied their agreement then nothing can be done. Which since then I've hatted their support.

Oh.. I'm sure everyone has seen this one.

WTS (new chapter name) for 100K. I got 2 of them for my birthday and can't return the other one.

But the BIGGEST scam.. Eye Of The North...

I preordered a hard copy soon as it was announced then forgot about the preorder and bought one from ingame store to get BMP. Day after i buy ingame another comes in post

Hmmm..the worse for me was when someone tried to sell me 50 Globs of Frozen Ectoplasm as real Ecto. I noticed the color immediately it and told him outright "nice try". He then proceeded to call me a noob and said it was my monitors color that was off....LOL.

Worst one I actually fell for because I was playing for about 6 hours straight and was dead tired.
I was selling a Grey Giant mini for 20k and someone offered 20g in the trade window and I accepted. DOHHHHHHH
Oh well live and learn NOT to sell anything when I'm tired.

The countless people who tried to get me to drop my Torment Shields when I was selling them, to make sure they were 'real'. lol.

I scammed myself along time back.

I was buying Charr Hides in Ascalon areas for over merchant value (less than a quater of fur square value of course) and someone put Charr Carvings into the trade window and i just accepted

I learn't my lesson even if it was only a small loss, i decided i'd quit while i was only slightly down

Ofcourse that was a week before the Halloween event and the Charr Carvings were suddenly worth quite a bit due to the new traders

Hmm not sure i did learn a lesson
Owell now my mates just started playing i don't scam noobs anyway so the worlds as it should be (i only scammed the once for about an hour and i do feel guilty even if it was trivial compared to the major scams)

Some retard offered me a Black Pearl saying something about how it makes your weapons better.

It was funny reading his explanation when I asked how.
