His name was Khazad Guard (well Celestial Magician at the time) this is his story :P. Its not the most pathetic scam, but all scams are pathetic, so yeah..

Was in Kaineng City International District (Inter. Dis-black market of the GW world:P) (I'm in International Dis. purely because it takes me faster to load when I'm playing h/h). So this guy was spamming for awhile, but being I didnt really bother reading what he was selling as I saw the 500k price tag.

Apart from that I've been rather stupid on a few occasions such as forgetting items from Storage cannot be taken directly into Trade Channel and submitting nothing. Oopsy

Was Selling a Bow of the hierophant, dude offers 85k,sale wouldnt go through because he had full packs, he says "here take these and give em back after the trade", puts two items in the trade, while also changing the gold amount to 8,500g, told him to go empty his packs and come back, he comes back and only puts 8,500g in trade window, told him to take a hike........

Well heres another oldschool scam, if anyone remembers it.

Situation 1:
LottoMan: LottoMan's lottery! Bettings start at 500g. Use "/Roll 100" Roll 60-80 for 1x money 80-99 for double money 100 for 3x!!
Random1 gives him 7k.
Random1 rolls a 2 on a 100 sided die.
LottoMan: Oooh, too bad.
Random2 gives him 6k
Random2 rolls a 100 on a 100 sided die.
LottoMan dissapears and can now be found in a different district.

Situation 2:

Random1: lol i tell bet then roll... that way if i win or lose we only trade 1 time

For all of you who don't know what i'm talking about, go outside or to your guild hall and type /roll 100. This was removed from towns because of these lotteries.

I've only been playing GW a month and although I'm getting the hang of things quite quickly now i still have trouble with what things are worth

well i was messing around in PS and picked up a purple skull shield with +10 armour didn't need it and needed a charr kit so i thought id sell it to help towards saving for that

the euro server was dead as it was about 4am so went to the American dist
and started advertising my sale in trade when a guy wisp me with an offer of 3.5k well that's a huge amount of money in PS so i jumped at it

only to be told the next day that that shield was only worth about 500g
i felt really guilty but couldn't remember how to spell the buyers name

i still feel guilty about it =(

Don't feel guilty - anyone with 3.5k to spend in pre knows very well how much things are worth. If he was willing to spend that then either it fit a build he was using or he was trying to help a new person out with a little extra cash. Either way, he knew what he was doing and he meant to do it.

Haha , I towtally agree with you about how fun stalling these guys get. They just have to be patient but their greed overwhelms them to the point where they can't hold back their anger and start givin off sparks so we can report =)

I've been a runner for god knows how long and in that business, you do meet all kinds. Afk pretenders, those that show u cash in the Perch and then drop it off at storage before u go out, outright stupid ones, so on and so long. But it's always super fun to be persistent and ruin their game. I have one event that comes to mind , not too shabby but why not share.

I was yelling in beacons to get a full party o payin customers for a droknar run in beacons (I had the wammo veil runner build) and I had 2 free spots. A dervish with a mate of his had been trying to join despite all my rejections. I did accept at last to tell him that I don't run lvl 20s. He immediately said: I'll pay (and showed money). His friend, also showed money and said he was his guildie. That was good cuz that means he would be easier to track if something were to go wrong.

We start the run and finish lornars and DD. At the start of snake dance I ask for %50 the cash (like I advertised in beacons) and all the customers but the dervish pay. So I start the same o same o, scammer de-programming crap =P He doesn't budge (afk pretender). After about 10 minutes ppl try to convince me to meet em at beacons for a re-run. I give their money back and zone to DD, start luring griffons to the party so everyone dies.

After enough DP I quit, I dunno if he ever made it to rankor with that DP (if he had indeed a running build packed) but that was creative improvisation on my part I'd say, and I'm proud of myself

Even better is to then add insult to injury is to add the following : As you see him pick it up, you type something like "NOOOOOOO, not my favorite lucky charm..." type of comment and proceed to convince him that you actually value that worthless thing you dropped, then repeat the slap across his face harder with another convincing item for his sins

Hahah ok these are funny.. I have a decent one. Doin my droks runs for a few days cuz what else is there to do when it's raining. Start a group, tell them the story, pay here and here and here. Everyone's like ok sounds good. Have the cash. So i get to payment spot one, no payment from 1 guy, so ok, cut your losses 2K or w/e. Kept running, got to second load zone for payment, guy who didn't pay started harsh lagging. Wouldn't pay me, so i told him i'd abandon him right now if he didn't pay. Everyone started whining and telling me they'd pay for him and what not. I didn't care, said I would abbandon this one guy if he didn't pay all. He kept cancelling. I load extremely fast, and he unfortunately doesn't. I walked in and out of portals until he dropped. Got a pm 2 seconds later, i just reported you. Everyone laughed, and i finished the run. All in a days work.
