Brr, well most people don't know how to deal with monks imho. It's more like door opens->ZOMGATTACKMONKFIRSTNUBZLOLOLOLOL. After stomping a monk that is loaded with prot to begin with they usually don't look back to see what's happening to their own backline. Usually I take good linebacker builds with hammers, shock, lots of cripple and whatnot because I'm usually the one that also thinks a little bit about defense while the rest is wailing on a monk that doesn't drop.

Another good thing about RA...

I had a worse win ratio (or less awful loss rate if you prefer) against Rits. After a while, I noticed the skills they used, search about it and decided to kill spirits first, Rit latter.

Eventually, things started to improve and I started to win a bit more.That learning experience, of failure, research, success, I only found on RA. Same thing happened when I changed my attack chain to a unblockable one after noticing everybody brings some blocking stance.

I've had 55 monks on my team, and everytime I don't have a monk I face a monk . Almost EVERY match.

You gotta sit in dist 1 and say:

WARRIORS! You go for monks>rits/mesmers/necros (depending on build)>eles'>sins>dervishes>other warriors.
Sometimes though, the warriors on the other team are silly and attack the warrior on my team so then it negates itself in that respect, although we still will probably die.

Nearly every other class should target the monk unless they are setup to be anti melee. Ele's if you have blind, blind warrior, then go after priority targets.

Monks please kite/hide behind things, don't stand in one place.

Everyone besides monk: Don't overextend!

NOTE on the priority of the targets, sometimes it can be different depending on the builds you face, sometimes someone else on your team should go after something else etc etc. Knowing what skills do what helps to do this. Also note that I'm not a top or pro or good pvp player even, so wait till a pro comes in to correct my mistakes and then follow the advice.

Personally, I like the Random Arenas because it's a nice source of fame if you come in with a half decent build, and I find it much less annoying than TA, where some moron wants you to either run some idiotic build that you know will never work, or a wiki TA build that is easily counterable, and doesn't listen to reason when you try to explain it to him.

Not in RA, in RA it will be more like this:
You set up as anti-cast mesmer, get teamed with two other dom mesmers and a monk who thinks healing breeze is the best heal in the game, and the opposing team has three narutards and a mediocre monk who is miles better than the one on your team, because he at least uses prot.

I know it’s probably been said, but I feel I need to reiterate. As we all know, after 10 wins in RA you move on to TA. Some people freak at this point because, for some reason, they think that going up against a team in TA is unwinnable, simply because this team had a choice of who’s on it. This doesn’t make them a good team though.

For instance, I was playing RA the other night and wound up on a decent team after being on a couple of turkeys. We pretty much rolled through RA. When we got to round 11, a couple of the guys freaked. “Oh no! TA! Everyone resign!” I told them to relax and give it a shot. We had nothing to lose. Sure enough, we steamrolled that team as well. Unfortunately, it still didn’t give these guys the boost I thought it would and they still quit before we got to play round 12.

Anyway, the moral is don’t sweat it if you get 10 wins and go to TA. Just because they’ve organized themselves doesn’t mean they’re good.

I used to play RA -> TA until I noticed some teams play using ventrillo. After seeing some voice-coordinated spikes I kinda lost the thrill to play on TA.

This the "magic" from RA its a luck draw, somethimes you win 10 without a monk because you have 4 killer machines in the team... sometimes you get a R/MO with sword and shield (last nite to me...) in your team and we win because we have 2 killer machines dervishs...

I play RA to relax from pve Hard Mode its fun its clean...

Only one thing piss me off...

Wow I had forgotten why I'd stopped RAing even though I'm so close to getting title. So Last night I roll in with my monk (so to give me a chance at winning) anyways, first match 2 monk team with no damage. Second match same. I literally went like 5 matches with 2 monks on a team in a row with last match having 3 monks!!! (wonderful)

Then I reroll on my Ele and guess what, no healing on team or coordination and all we face are Sins. That's all there is in RA sins with knock down and spammable whatever it is they spam 123, 123, 123

even i encountered a A/Mo healer with WoH, E/A with sin only skills. so 0 wins last night and I'm put off RA for another good while I think. It's really horrible along with attitude of ppl in there.

RA is pretty much Sinway now it seems.

Oh damn Moko that was you in Great Temple the other day? I said something about you not being female or there not being females there and you said you were then later on I seen Moko's Insight and said your name (you were by that Spike guy) and said you were the only female in that place or something like that. I was on Nauty Nurse Porlest I think...and said you were 10 feet tall as well cause your monk is a giant.

Also, RA makes me rage completely. Mostly because I face a monk every time almost. I do not like facing monks WHEN THE PEOPLE ON MY TEAM GO AFTER WARRIORS IF THEY'RE A WARRIOR. Tried out multiple builds, had some good runs some bad just an average day. Raged a bit more than usual cause I keep getting interrupted by rangers because I cannot sit there and watch them and wait for them to interrupt me then cancel before they do because then I wouldn't be accomplishing anything.

Hell I don't even RA much, it's like a week thing that I get every 5 months. I'm close to r1 Gladiator though and making good faction to get keys. If I didn't seemingly suck so much I'd probably have Gladiator already.

I face a monk everytime on my mesmer, Yet I get no monk. Theres two outcomes, We squish the other team faster then they can squish us, or we get squished into goo. Most of the time the latter happens.

I should just keep grieving on my monk.

yeah that was me. i was selling keys, and suddenly people ran to me and i'm like wtf. O_o

and i remember your monk, but i didn't say anything, just the others were talking about genders..i think. xD

and just something i noticed -- early in the mornings (euro times, 8 am~), there's usually a lack of monks, which raises at like 4 pm, but on the other side good melees go down. anyone else noiced this?:P i always get easy points by doing monk/melee at these times if i really want to, but if i do the opposite at these times i'm usually screwed.

one thing i love RA for though (i had forgotten i must say):

I am probably the only person who got both monk teams and non-monk teams, it seems. :P

I played Monk a couple of times and OMG, RED BARS GOES DOWN FAST, HEALHEALHEALHEAL.

Dude.. monking is stressfull. People have no sense of preservation. I pity the monk who heals a asscaster. They have low armor, ,no self-heal, no blocking and like to shadow step to the middle of the fray.

I don't know how they can heal between interrupts and knockdowns now and then.

Good RA monks have hearts of steel.

That sounds interesting, can you share the build please? Ive tried a few perma KD builds, usually based around Gale, Gust and Slippery Ground, but my damage output is useless then.
