BMP for sale
Shadow Spirit
If they knew they were going to sell it, they should have just put it up for sale at the same time they ran the promotion.
Buy GWEN in the OL store = get the BMP for free
OR buy the BMP for 10 bucks
That's how it should have been back in November if they were going to do this.
No one would have bought extra character slots they didn't need. People who wanted their box would have gotten it. Everyone would have been happy.
I hope they keep this in mind for the future.

Bad wording on the retail purchase bit: i ment GW:EN, i will fix. |
Anet NEVER told people to purchase GW:EN through the online store to receive the BMP, which is what you are implying. Anet said that if people spend over $39 dollars through their online store, the customer would receive the BMP. If you decided to purchase GW:EN for more than retail, its YOUR fault, not Anet. You should've bought something else not available at stores.

And stop with the 'YOUR fault' stuff, thats all you say to people who bought GW:EN on the online store for the BMP, and not buying it on retail.
For the 'You should've bought something else not available at stores.' bit, maybe i don't NEED extra character slots?
Maybe i don't WANT them either?

The Skill Packs were pulled off the on-line store, only to have reduced prices released after the BMP deal was over.
All in all, this was poorly done. I now have more bonus slots than I know what to do with, and I'm short $20.
But I guess I should be thankful Guild Wars doesn't cost a monthly fee....

pygar...seriously...how much to ship the box?
EDIT: Yeah, I've already got more character slots than I use. I was really hoping they would have had mugs or sweatshirts or something during the promo. Then I would have spent $29+ to get the BMP plus $40 retail for the physical copy of GWEN...and have been absolutely pleased about it. And I would not care one iota if they sold the BMP later. I don't even care now! I just need a box.

Well maybe you should stop complaining?
Maybe you don't want the box?
you make it seem like you wanted a box so bad, but even though you had that opportunity, you chose not to get it. You still have an option to buy a box, so why be upset about people who didn't have the option to get the BMP, and now do? Stop being selfish.

Yay for all the Q's, I think I'll buy it now :O

LOL, I never said it wasn't my fault for not buying it back then. But now I have the option, the same option that you have to buy a box. You don't see me making a thread complaining. If I have a complaint , I email Anet, which I did and now I am going to buy the BMP
WinterSnowblind
This is just another BMP whine thread. Only now the roles are reversed, is there really any point, we're just discussing the same things AGAIN.
If there's one thing I think we can all agree on, the promotion was a terrible idea and was handled very poorly. Hopefully if they do something similar again, they make it available in a more sensible way, but the fact is the way it was done was always going to leave some people unhappy. Making it available to everyone VIA the ingame store was the best move they could make at this point, IMO.

It's worth $10, IMO.
But not worth $30.
Making the $29 promotion available would have been the best thing they could do. Might actually get people to buy their stupid skill packs.
But not worth $30.

I think it's great news that more people will be able to get their hands on this wonderful addition. I also hope that this precedent set by Anet propagates to other small account additions that could be distributed by micro-transactions (like upgrading to a collector's edition for 5 bucks ) |
You think this is a positive?
Stuff like SF used to be given for free. I think this is the exact opposite direction, adding more and more content at a charge is inching closer and closer to "monthly fee" style of payment structure.

The only thing saving Guild Wars is the fact it's free to play. If it's pay-to-play with bonuses, then it loses some luster. Sadly, I think that's the direction that GW2 is headed towards - some kind of free-to-play "basic" Guild Wars 2, and a "leet" Guild Wars where you have to pay for extra content.

Honestly, the only real complaint to Anet would be to increase inventory slots, yet I have yet to see those....

On topic.....this has all been said before with different sides crying. Whining and crying aren't going to change anything so let's just stop.

Well I am not bothered by this a bit. It’s only PR marketing the first time, so that way the money could go straight to A-net with the release of EotN. They are now just picking up any lost revenue they can take from the BMP. This was not unexpected to me, given that A-net is just a corporation.
It’s just like when I see the Xbox 360 or PC only logo’s stamped on a retail box; I know sooner or latter that will become obsolete.

Where are people getting the idea from that this would never be available again? Unless someone wants to give an actual source, I believe they NEVER said that. In fact, Gaile said numerous times that she was unsure if it would be released later, but it would be a possibility.
I mentioned this earlier, but again, I have to say, I'm all for this approach. I have no problems paying for additional content that I actually want and I'm going to use, as opposed to the WoW style of paying for everything constantly, even when you're not playing.
If you don't want the expansions, you don't need to spend any more money. But if you want some extra content, it's there for you. Much better than paying monthly, in my opinion, especially now as 90% of PC games are MMO's, it's just becoming impossible to play more than a single game at a time. Due to subscription fees.

Surprising? Definately not. ArenaNet needs to milk as much money as possible.
Releasing BMP to stores to further increase profits: Wait, what?

This sucks for all those who bought extra stuff to get "exclusive" content.
Of course ANET wants to make money, but going back on their slogan/word of "exclusive" is quite lame.
ADDED: And Of course as well they removed the old page that said that BMP was a limited time offer--wouldn't want too much legal trouble? (not sure).

And the thing about people whining it was "so impossible" to get in Europe is straight bollocks, too. I'm from The Netherlands, probably one of the most digitalized-money countries in the world, where everything is ran through the PIN-system and hardly anyone ever carries loose change. This means we hardly ever use credit cards also, as we have a PIN for everything. It was still childishly easy to obtain a credit card and anyone could have done it.

I'll sell someone my game packaging for $10.

BMP looks shit anyway, doubt I'll buy it. Glad I got GWEN for 12.99 in a local shop, even though gwen fails.
