^So true. The Survivor title has just become a joke because of those that decide to take the easy rode, and because Anet isn't willing to patch this hole^

Armor: Warrior FoW. The helmet looks good with many other sets of armor, I'll give it that... The rest of the set makes the person look like a walking trash compactor. Just my opinion, though.

Title/skill: Ursan power gogogo! The illusion of skill awaits you!

Accomplishment/title: PvP titles/ranks ect. And only because many of the people that have them assume they're some sort of PvP god. It makes me sick and is one of the main reasons I don't PvP as often as I used to.

As for the FoW/chaos gloves/etc.etc. etc. the way I look at it is... there's nothing left to do in this game except to count your money. Once you do that, I guess ya gotta spend it. What's the best way to spend it? On expensive things! Go epeen?

Titles? Hmm. I think anything where you legitimately work to get them is okay by me, whether it's guardian, survivor, vanquisher, etc. But if you copped out and did it in some sorta pussy way, then I don't care. The best part about it is that I know that you know you didn't earn it

Anything you are showing off is over-rated - really. Everything is GW is grindable with no skill whatsoever from a build someone else did all the hard work to make. Always has been, always will be. Make sure you note that "showing off" is VERY different from "displaying".

I have titles I am *personally* proud of because I know I didn't get them that way, but I don't expect other people to care one way or another. I also have items I am *personally* proud of, but again have no reason to expect others to do so. I display ones I am proud of or ones that currently give me some type of advantage

I am MUCH more proud of a protector title I henched on my own than I am of my SS/LB that I flagged hench/hero to get while in Wurms. Of course, I could have easily purchased runs for said protector titles so I have no expectation of others being impressed by it even though I did it the hard way.

What I generally find amusing is that many consider wherever they are currently at to be the one that shows actual skill - especially in PvP. Only rank 4? Well those people asking for rank 6 or better are noobs that don't know what they are talking about - anyone above rank 3 is *obviously* good (well, until you reach said higher rank, then it is vitally important that you are that rank or rank-1).

There are only a very few things in the game I find somewhat impressive, though more because it required some level of dedication and can't really be bought. High level PvP titles required lots of hours, Treasure hunter required you to actually opened said chests, Vanquisher titles meant you spent a lot of time actually killing things. Are they really impressive? Not really - it just proves you spent a lot of time. None of them show skill - there are low rank/title players out there that have WAY more skill than high level ones and will continue to be so because they make no attempt at gaining titles. There are H/H builds that make the PvE titles easy and BotM that make the PvP titles easy (though still time consuming).

There is one, and only one, metric I respect from just being there and that is when you get into the very high parts of the PvP ladders. I know of no way to cheat your way into that place.

I agree with that, i mean i'm not a person who thinks everyone who dyes armour black are doing it just for the status, because black is actually my favourite colour. However, i do set myself limits. I will not dye my 15k platemail, or templar black. I've not even bought primeval, but if i did i would not dye it black as it just does not look nice, imo.

Overrated is anything that get more worship (or more rated) Than it should do, that can include armor/weapons/proffessions/anything. FoW is considered Overrated by many because most PvErs think your a better player for having it somehow, that it makes you better than others. If you like FoW, get it, just don't think having it makes you good. It's the same with Chaos Gloves, Dragon Gautlets, most people in PvE get the idea that grinding makes you the best.

i have monk fow dyed black and i am 40k away from getting my chaos gloves

however i did not buy these things because i wanted respect. ever since that fateful day almost two years ago in lions arch i have wanted monk fow. ever since i saw chaos gloves i knew i wanted them. i totally agree with the fact that you see people in armor dyed black and it looks horrible (warrior primeval ewwwwww) who have blatently bought it for the fame, along with many other cases, but instead of stereotyping us all together you have got to realise that there are people out there who buy things because they actually like them, and bought in order to look good in their opinion. i would never buy something as ugly as male nec fow (in my opinion, and you are entitled to not like my armor combo, but do not put me in the same group as the attention seeking ones) just to earn a bit more fame. i do not believe grinding is the best either...i just got a few good minipets for my bdays. its about how you play, and in my opinion the best players are those who help others achieve what they want --> thank you so much Princess of Dragons, who taught me everything i need to know about gw.

Besides what has already been said here, the crystalline skin is soo overrated, its a translucent piece of glass, its only extraordinarily rare that people want it so bad. FoW in general is pretty overrated, except for a few professions like maybe necro or dervish.

Also random titles like drunkard are so overated, they require basicallly no skill at all since all you do is click alcohol for MONTHS, to say yay i have a title...

It's also pretty overrated to be high-ranked in general. Before the release of nightfall I would have agreed with much of what is being said in http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10208428

But nowadays any honest person who takes a look at the current meta can tell you that any twat willing to go through the social loopholes of top guilds can become a "top player". Skill is no longer a necessity to steamroll top 100's and R9+'s. The "skill gap" that used to exist is a thing of the past.

armor - most fow sets look fugly, and the people in them tend to think they are so high and mighty for spending a million on armor, i also hate primeveal on warriors, i see it all the time and like above says its fugly.

Item - elemental sword, origanally it sold for loads, which i liked when it dropped for me, meaning i made some money, but the skin just looks horrid, it would be nicer if animated.

title - any that requires grinding, so thats pratically all of them, the only titles i can think of which are not repetitve tasks like killing mobs for points or even clicking on items, is prolly protector/cartogropher and skill hunter.

i'm tired of seeing monks in slaver's with fow armor, chaos gloves, and some ugly gwen headpiece. the dread mask looks just....uggggh.
most of the gwen gloves and headpieces are ugly. very rarely do i see a set of armor that they look good with. the only set that looks good enough that i'm considering buying is elite stoneforged ele armor with destroyer gauntlets.
oh and chaos gloves on a mes. but mesmers always look awesome.

I used to really like the Warrior Primeval armour, looks pretty similar to Nightmare, from the Soulcalibur games. But yeah, the amount of people you see wearing it has really killed it, it's just boring. And dying it black is a good example of people who use black dye for the prestige, and nothing more. It just looks terrible.

I also don't really understand the popularity of the fellblade.. Just a big ugly blob of a sword.

Hey! The dread mask is SUPPOSED to look "....uggggh." I intend to get it for my monk, and combine it with primeval armor, an outcast shield, and a nightmare spear. Grotesque and silly armor pieces have their place, and at least they show some personality. I am a lot more forgiving of dragon gauntlets and dread masks than I am of the "I'm rich" uniform: black fow with chaos gloves and spectacles.

The Dread Mask looks good with some armours and not so good with others. On warriors with the heavy bulk platemail-style armours, it can look a little strange.

With some Necro armour it looks good, also, a couple of Sins have worn it quite well. It's not so much the mask, as what it is put with and how it's dyed. The same goes for Chaos Gloves and Destroyer Gauntlets (minus the dye). Dragon gauntlets hardly ever look good though, which is a shame, as they could have been nice, if they were smaller.
