The price has fallen to around 10-20k, the price before the finale last year, so it's not as bad if you buy for anything more than 10-20k then your have cash to waste.
BTW I always knew Pigs domianted the economy, pigs being rich people who pay a lot to be the first to have new stuff, raising the price of items (to unreasonable amounts) so people with less money can't get it right away.
Pigs and Rats the economy is domianted by vermin, BRING ON THE TIGERS AND DRAGONS!!

Players with 3+ active characters don't have a lobby among Anet's designers. Since NF we are supposed to have 1 or 2 characters, 1pvp slot and several mules. (a guildmate who has only one pve char has a mule full of piggies..)
Single character grind is endorsed by all actions of the design team.
Personally, i'm waiting for Mythos and if it's good enough it's QQ+ByeBye GW franchise.

I think I have about 4 pigs in storage - I kept 1 for each of my mains.
I'm not sure what to do with them now - sell or trade to collector.

I guess i can understand why they are doing this, from reading how many mini pigs people actually have, its flooding!! looks like a way to get rid of them all to bring it back down or something. The prices for these new pets will probably be ridiculous, it always is, people want to be the first to get something so they will pay lots. Give it a few weeks and the price of these new minis will drop.

You know ... i actually hoped for this event to flood market with super cheap minipets. Was it so bad that one mini was so common to become simple token of goodwill: gift you would give to stranger that was not so lucky to be online during festival? Bad enough that some gold colored mini was comon so that they needed to fix it?

Weapons, with very few exceptions, are now pretty cheap. With the exception of tormented weapons, I haven't seen anything over 100k in a long time. Even the new design-a-weapon additions won't stay high priced very long.
There is a wide variety of armor in the game but with no new expansions what we have is all there is likely to ever be.
New quests, missions and explorable areas take a lot of time and money to design and so we have seen the last of them - except maybe in the form of future BMPs.
the only new things, because they are easy to produce and implement, are titles and minipets (two things which, coincidentally, have almost nothing to do with actually playing the game) Soooo....expect them to continue to rise in price and expect ANet to waste lots more time fiddling around with them - trying to adjust the "pet economy".
Minipets are now the whole point of the game.

Most people gave away or sold their Mini-pigs or at least most of them. I have a few left but will probably end up giving them to guildmates who destroyed theirs. I only kept the couple I have because I have multiple characters doing HoM - so far only one is doing mini-pets though.

Remember last year people were buying the Mini-Pigs for 50k each. That hit 2k in a few weeks, might happen again with the item you receive when you trade them in.

- Extremely sad as many people will bite themselves in their arses for using up all the snowmen and stuff for FUN before this title was introduced.
2.) Giving a special reward for last year's mini
- Seriously, they forget that many people have more than 1 char. They used them up in their other HoM's or sold them. Who is keeping these pigs? And now they are suddenly valuable... DOH!
Totally screwed up ideas and logic. Who had this idea, and how could the majority of responsible people at ANet (I guess they discuss such ideas) agree on that???

If we look back to last year Anet has made some changes which I personally think reflect what the community complained about.
1. Too many mini-pigs - now we can get rid of some
2. Some of us did all the work to get the ingredients while others just stood around - this year we get a reward to give items in - good job here
3. Don't do the rats the same way as the pigs - looks like they won't
So.... seems like a good deal to me

The thing is, people had been "getting rid" of the minipigs all through the year, one way or another. So, introducing a reward for NOT doing that now (despite the very limited storage and no hint of what to come) is just plain wrong. It'd be fine if they had introduce such fix right after the event (or better, during the event).

We arent certain it is a mini pet we trade them for :P i could just be bags or something.
Also the price seems to have stuck at 20-30k rather than 100k :P

(Confirmed) The Celestial Rat Minipet can ONLY be obtained through Lunar Tokens
(Confirmed) The Special Collector will Require Two or More Mini Pigs in exchange
(Confirmed) The Hats for this year's Canthan New Year is the Lion Mask, same as last year, with a possible twist if I recall.
(Confirmed) The Event at the End of the Festival will not award a Minipet, instead something New and Cool will be awarded.
Where else do you see the Second Minipet being awarded other then the Collector?
Although Gaile DID state that Top Winner's in the Roller Beetle Races will be rewarded with something special, which could only be the other place I can Imagine.
